This boss is totally destroying my life. I have no idea what to do to win this fight, but there are two things I know for sure.

1. I´m not lowering the difficulty

2. I´m not reverting to an earlier save

Because **** that noise.

I´m a dual wield rogue main, I have Cassandra, Blackwall, and Vivienne. Everyone is level 8 (recommended level claims you could do this quest at level 5? Seriously?) Vivienne has fire magic along with all the obvious barrier shenanigans and dispel. Blackwall has grappling hook, Cassandra has bodyguard, Main has stealth and DW skills.

My party composition for this fight seems sub-optimal, but other than that I´m golden. Everyone is at max health, I have all 8 potions, Cassandra has 5 regen potions, Vivienne has 5 lyrium potions, Main has 1 fire bomb left. It was a breeze getting here, but now I´m getting massacred.

Having three melee characters really seems to bite a dong in this fight considering the aoe insta-lose nonsense Envy throws at you every 5-6 seconds. I heard that kiting him is effective but I don´t even see how that´s possible because he appears to only ever move by burrowing underground and doing that emergence move which, as far as I can tell, is undodgeable. Then he throws a ball of green spit at somebody for massive damage, then burrows underground again and repeats this process until I´m dead. Even if i get aggro he just jumps to someone else.

I can´t remember the last time I was so clueless in a boss fight. Like I can BARELY land one or two attacks and then poof everybody is dead. Taunting doesn´t seem to do anything, he just keeps jumping to whatever target he feels like jumping to, then throws that green goop ball and rinse and repeat and rinse and repeat and rinse.

If i somehow manage to get in range to hit him, AOE SHRIEEEK! well ****. I read that he summons minions at around 70% health, though I´ve yet to even make it that far.

P.S. If there are a bunch of threads asking for help on this fight then sorry but I´m trying my best to avoid spoilers.

Hi Friend,

Gonna bump this thread with an answer just in case you haven't  managed this fight - or future nightmare enthusiasts find this thread looking for some advice.

Boss Envy LOVES melee characters. You are going to have a really really bad time with that composition. The best advice i can offer is:-

  • Put a bow on your rogue and have him afk AA from a safe distance with hold position on (doesn't matter if he isn't specc'd right)
  • Have your mage hold position as well and disable dispel as a usable spell. You're gonna cast it yourself soon as your two warriors get feared. Don't trust the AI.
  • KITE KITE KITE. The mage and rogue will be all your main source of DPS. Have the warriors play run-around (use charging bull to avoid his jump attack).
  • ALWAYS have him taunted and use shield wall to deflect his ranged attacks.
  • When the adds appear focus fire and try to clear the field before Envy reappears.
  • When he changes form just kite all day and let the mage/rogue kill him.

Abuse tactical view. Always keep him taunted and remember to cast dispels.

Reconsider reverting a save and going back with an archer/2mages/warrior combo because it will make him a cake walk.

Good luck.

I got stuck on this fight the other day, Leftee's advice was helpful but I was still struggling a little. In the end I noticed he basically targets my tank so I could keep my ranged characters safe and just focus on deflecting his attacks with shield wall. I feel like you might struggle with 2 tanks as melee gets smashed in this fight.

I had to actually fight him twice as Ser Barris died the first time. So the second time I did recorded the fight, if you need help check my video, I think it helps cause I mess up a few times and it shows you can still survive a stuff up in this fight.

Also I did this fight with a level 6 team
