I would like to find out as much as possible about human inquisitor's family and city they reside in. So far this is all i know:

-Their motto is "Modest in temper, bold in deed"

-They apparently have a cool coat of arms

-Dorian says the Trevelyans are related to House Pavus of Tevinter (i also heard the Trevelyans are in general a cadet branch of a -Tevinter noble family, maybe it's Pavus i don't remember)

-Josephine's family the Montilyet's have met them.

-The Trevelyans hold popular summer balls in the Free Marches

-They are the 7th (or 8th) most illustrious family in Ostwick

-They have close ties with the chantry and templar older

-It is a large clan with several blood related relatives spread all around

-They are banns.

Ostwick:

-The Qunari landed near Ostwick to invade other free marcher cities and this caused Ostwick to build a large wall and always remember that (i don't know if the Qunari actually attacked or not)

-The leader of Ostwick is called a Teryn, like in Ferelden

-The circle of magi in Ostwick is a sedate place and did not choose sides during the rebellion, staying neutral.

-It is part of a super secret Thedas Illuminati plot with the other cities home to noble heroes.

- Citizens of Ostwick butter up giant cheeses and race them

The 7th most illustrious family of Ostwick... or was it 8th?

Some more information on Ostwick:

The circle of magi in Ostwick is a sedate place and did not choose sides during the rebellion, staying neutral.

You have options to sort of describe your experience in the circle to Josephine so you can sort of shape how the Ostwick circle was via dialogue. I chose the option that made it seem like the Templars and Mages weren't on bad terms and that i was able to go visit my family which made the circle in Ostwick seem much more relaxed.

When Josephine says both Nevarra and and Tevinter wants for you to fight against the Venatori with their banners, you can choose both, sending yours ambassadors to Tevinter and contacting several members of the Trevelyan's family who resides in Nevarra.

i find the modest in temper bold in deeds doesnt always apply to the rest of the family....  the war table missions dealing with your family indicate that pretty well.

Has anyone found more information on the Trevelyans and Ostwick?

The only thing else i have is a list of known members:

  • The Inquisitor (If human)
  • Lucille - Great-aunt of the human Inquisitor
  • Bann Trevelyan - Father of the human Inquisitor
  • Lady Osher Lotharn Trevelyan Bayart - A cousin of the human Inquisitor

This is the real life coat of arms of Trevelyan:

Now i could be wrong but we never get to see the coat of arms of House Trevelyan in game, we are however told that it is interesting/cool by Josephine.

That is what we see when picking a human noble in Inquisition. Notice the horse looks similar to the real life Trevelyans coat of arms. This leads me to believe that a horse is in it so hopefully we the get to see it in the next world of thedas volume.

Another minor detail which probably means nothing is the surname Trevelyan is first seen in Cornwall and is described as an ancient name dating before the 1066 Norman conquest of England. In game it is said the Trevelyans are an old and distinguished family. Also the fact that Ostwick shares the title Teryn with Fereledan is sort of like how Cornwall is part of England but also had a slightly different more celtic influenced culture. Ostwick is a marcher city so It's like Ostwick=Cornwall to Fereldan=England.

It's funny because all of this probably has nothing to do with creating the Dragon age Trevelyans.

I wonder if the tarot card is just that.

Noble Trevelyan gets a stallion card and Mage Trevelyan gets an owl card.

They have relatives in Nevarra that have the ear of King Markus Pentaghast, there is a dialogue when Josephine talks about a potential alliance with The Tevinter Archon and King Markus and the Trevelyan Inquisitor points out how he can ally with both, Having relatives in Nevarra that could convince King Markus to accept the Inquisitions alliance with the Archon.

I believe you only get that comment if you have purchased the Nobility conversation perk, otherwise it isn't an option.

Just because you lack the knowledge to exploit it doesn't mean it isn't true,

We can assume the city has pretty moderate views on magic, since the PC was allowed to go to his home town circle, where as Amell and his siblings were sent abroad, despite having an even more powerful family,

Bottom option is you saying that it's kind of stupid

Top option is you saying that it's a proud tradition

Middle option is you going into detail about the intricacies of wheeling cheese, how the type of cheese, its age, and the butter you use all determine its speed and traction when rolling. Then you sheepishly say that you may have taken part in the competition

Are mom and dad still alive? Why haven't we met them, not even at the end of the game? I always pictured Bann Trevelyan like Tywin Lannister but poorer.

Considering you're always introduced as the youngest child of Bann Trevelyan, I would say that whichever parent of yours was born Trevelyan is still alive, at least.
