I'm curious if anyone from the community has tips for combating the atrocious party AI? I'm enjoying everything aside from combat. My party members don't hold even with the icon next to their picture, archers stand next to their targets, same for casters, my rouge attacks from the front, and the list goes on and on. I find the game significantly more enjoyable on easy without party members. Which is sad because origins I played on nightmare with difficulty mods, cools down mods, and AI tactics mods to make it even more challenging. Inquisition's combat is just frustrating and hardly ever enjoyable. Are there any tweaks I'm unaware of that improve the combat? Should I turn off tactics completely?

What's been working pretty well for my party set up is:

Me (Archer) - Defend Cassandra (though I'm almost always controlling my character so it doesn't really matter)

Sera (Archer) - Follow Me

Cassandra (Sword/Shield) - Defend Cassandra

Dorian - Defend Cassandra

I really only go into tactical view when I first enter combat.  I set up myself and Sera to find a nice vantage point (up high if possible) to pick off low health enemies.  Cassandra I send directly into the fray, with Dorian safely behind her.  With Sera following me, she should be hitting the same targets as me so we can make quick work of trash enemies.  With Dorian defending Cassandra, he should be casting barrier and AOE spells around her.

As for preferred abilities, Cassandra is set to prefer any taunt abilities, with other guard abilities enabled.  And Dorian is set to prefer barrier.  They should all be using 100% of their mana/stamina.

If my range characters get rushed I still have to enter tac view, because they're hopeless without me.  I just set them to escape somewhere past Cassandra and have Cassandra go attack the offender to draw aggro.
