I am loving Inquisition, but I have to say that much like DA:2 there is one character companion that I just want to punch in the face whenever I talk to them or they open their mouth;...and that would be Vivienne.

 

Yeah, yeah put down the torches and pitchforks. She's such a primadona and a spoiled, mean spirited jerk that she reminds me of Carver and I LOATHED him. Backhanded insults, looking down her nose at everyone...I just with there was an option to slap her sometimes lol.

 

So I thought I'd ask the question: Is there a character companion that you just want to punch sometimes?  (Keep in mind, Vivienne is classified as character I love to hate for me) All the characters are awesome in their own way; but sometimes there's that one that just rubs you the wrong way. I'm curious to see what other people think. Sometimes it's fun to just vent about it.

 

What say you?

I actually don't feel like punching any companions, although I find Sera a bit squirrelly, so I don't really take her with me when I head out. I would still punch Carver at least once, though.

I agree in terms of Vivienne. Dorian also insults people but when he does it is either due to a relatively sheltered Tevinter aristocrat upbringing (e.g. not knowing anything about Elves if your character is Lavellan) or actually done to be funny- Vivienne just does it to be a ******. There is a reason why she was not elected Grand Enchanter of the College of Mages and that would be it.. Fiona has made plenty of mistakes and admits it but she is somewhat better at being politic than Vivienne .. not a fan of the Orlesians anyway their society is so fake .

 

That being said I do bring her out on missions because some missions are better suited for a knight enchanter rather than a Rift Mage, or Necromaner. Just like I bring Cole on missions where a dagger based rogue is more effective than a archer

I would like to punch Solas. This thought occured to me the other day when I went to speak with him and he had been disapproving nearly everything I was doing. My lovely quizzy told him she would like to be on better terms and something about respect.... to which he replied something like this..."Perhaps if you did something WORTH respecting.." in a snide way. OHHHHH that p*ssed me off so bad!!!!! In my head my quizzy will respond thustly; "Well, Solas... why don't you take a nice little nap and keep dreaming that you're cool?" Pfft. What an ass!!!

Wow ... that conversation is sad, on a number of levels. I do not agree with Solas on some magic topics but hell if I do not respect the man.

I've found Vivienne and Solas insufferable at times. Vivienne for her snobbish nature and utter disdain for everything I love about the series. Solas for his self righteousness and unpleasable stubbornness, though I don't quite dislike him nearly as much as Vivienne.

 

While Vivienne is the one I dislike the most, Cole is the one who offends me the most. By his very nature he violates the sanctity of people's minds, pulling out their pain for all to see and wiping their memory of him on his whim. I do believe he means well, but that doesn't change the fact that he is walking, talking mind-rape.

Solas is ridiculously awesome, I can imagine the Templar supporters would hate him though.

 

As for what character... Sera, easily. Vivienne might be a complete ******, but she at least has a semblance of rationality. The sole reason Sera stays in my Inquisition is her red jenny network. If it was just her, she'd be booted out, she's an idiot.

nobody, actually. all of the characters have something about them that's endearing to me. I love the huge variation we have in the team this time around. The character that ended up getting on my nerves the most was probably Blackwall, but I ultimately respected him and never came close to wanting to punch him. Well, maybe kinda close, for only a fleeting moment. lol

Well, holy crap - that's certainly an entirely different experience from my Inquisitor's relationship with Solas. We had the respect/friendship thing going on even though he occasionally disapproved of a few things.

Sera at first was the worst of them. She can be a fun one at times but others...her strong disliking of magic, even history and sometimes jibberish talk..Sera's alright I suppose. Viv I find ok so long as you leave the whole Mage things aside she's fun.
But Solas for sure is a drag. Anything to maintain the current no changes even if for the better. Stubborn and a bit stuffy. Cole I can forgive because despite what he is. He is very child like in that he doesn't understand things humans growth learn through experience.

But all in all everyone has their charms I suppose

Killing Fiona in Haven was the most satisfying thing ever.  I really applaud BioWare for letting us put down a MarySue like that.

I didn't want to punch any of the companions through the game- I thought they were really well done.  I REALLY don't understand the Blackwall hate to be sure- I thought he ended up with one of the best character archs.  I will say that I found myself AT ODDS with Vivienne the most- mostly because of her traditional, more conservative believes, but, I certainly didn't hate her or want to punch her or whatever.

Wasn't as satisfying as I would have liked. A cutscene, a conversation. Something to distinguish her from the other dozen mages I killed in that battle besides an inflated health bar.

Vivienne needs at least a good slap for being so stuck up and preachy. She knows best in her own mind and she will remind you of that every chance she gets. Solas is just a nerdy know it all the kind you see on forums who every post has to write a huge essay about why they are right. Then when people write anything to counter their argument they have to break down each individual sentence in quotes and explain why they are wrong with a huge essay for each answer.
