That character you want to punch....

Sera. Went from one of my Top Three most anticipated characters to 'get the hell away from me' within the span of an hour of gameplay. She's everything I cannot stand in a person wrapped up into one tiny little package, and with a sprinkling of character from the characterization of Rip Van Wrinkle from Hellsing Ultimate Abridged. I see why people like her, I do, and don't begrudge them for it or her writer for penning her that way. But he literally could not have made a more unappealing character to me if he tried, which I'm flabbergasted by since I've either been ambivalent or loved most of the controversial female characters up to this point. Ah well, different strokes for different people. Love that people love her. She's never being recruited again for me. Full stop.
Everyone else I was fine with it. I might not love Vivienne, but I do like her inclusion and think she's honestly one of the prettiest characters I've ever seen when she drops that stupid hat of hers.

Sera is easily the most annoying character. Even characters I don't necessarily fully agree with, Vivienne and Solas, are able to back up opinions rationally.
Only thing that rubbed me the wrong way about Vivienne was her treatment of Cole but considering the last Spirit that inhabited a body blew up the chantry and created the present war...yeah.

Lets see, Viviene bugs me, probably not enough to warrant a punch... Sera did annoy the hell out of me at first, but after pulling pranks with her and eating a cookie on the roof (non romance btw), shes actually one of the more well liked characters.... Cole i find disturbing at times with the whole violate the mind thing, but after our cutscene trip to val royeaux after you finished his quest was just hillarious.
No, if i had to hit someone it would be solas. In haven when you talk to him he seems like a visionary, a truly interesting person. Then after a story mission or two you just cant please the man even if he has high approval, plus he has issues with a lot of my other characters and that just puts him in an even worse light.... Plus hes kind of a dick in the endgame.
Honorable mention: Id like to hit Celene for her horrible accent, then maybe murder the rest of the court for dancing when the world if ending.

The Inquisitor, can't be role played in a way that would make me not want to punch him/her. Gets the most screen time as well.
If male, go with the british voice... that made it much more bearable

Main conclusion from the topic - there are a lot of very judgmental people among us. Thanks the Maker we are not at power.
As for Vivienne my curiosity satisfied - those who loved Wynne either love Vivienne as well or fiercely refuse to see the slightest similarity between too of them

Sera, I kicked her out the Inquisition the first chance I got and I doubt I'll ever recruit her again.

Solas started off well, I thought we would become fast bffs. But something changed when we got to skyhold. He's like a bald Sheldon Cooper. Mr. All knowing, don't question my all knowingness.

I adored Vivienne. A true iron lady, with nerves of steel and a political mind. Even if you disagreed with her, I feel like she made a good case for herself explaining why she believed she was right regarding the mage/templar conflict. Her endgame was never about leashing the mages and elevating the Chantry; she wanted order. Those things are merely side-effects of reaching that goal. If anything, I found her worthy of respect. Having her and Solas in the party is interesting, because I thought Solas had a liberal yet intelligent outlook on most issues which had him and Vivienne clash constantly, yet she stumped him more than once on the realities of mage freedom. She is snappy, but I don't find her without reason - far from it.
That being said I wanted to punch Solas a few times when my choices didn't align with his. He seemed far too idealistic at times, and less interested in making the Inquisition as powerful as it could be through alliances.

Ugh. Solas, all the way. Just because you are usually right doesn't mean you have to be such a big fat jerk about it. I get it- you are really, really smart. Now shut up. I'll be in the stable with Blackwall.

My Inquisitor seems to have a serious issue. She can't stand the thought of any of her companions disliking her so she goes out of her way to try to please them all. There have been times when I wanted to grab Cole or Vivienne, shake them, and shout "STOP HATING EVERYTHING I DO!" Then I go and cry in a corner and and say "Why don't they like me?" That probably says something bad about me personally, though.

Mine is Sera at the moment. I mean I thought Fiona and Tallis were bad(and they still are) but she gives them a run for their money. Hypocritical, childish, and despite standing up for the "common" people she has a disturbing lack of empathy and its a wonder that I kept her around for as long as I did. Maybe things will smooth over as I move forward in the game or they can be a hell of a lot more worse.
Also I heard about the way she treats the player character at the end of a certain romance...ouch. :/

I don't want to punch Cole, I want to punch the edgy 13 year old from the burbs that wrote him.

Pretty much my exact thoughts on Vivienne.

I actually preferred Solas on so many levels because of his idealism and emphasis on understanding things. Understanding something led to less fear and less fear was a good thing, especially where people's feelings about mages were concerned. Vivienne, on the other hand, was more concerned about keeping the status quo because it would elevate her own power and because people being afraid gave her a weapon of manipulation. When you look down your nose at the very people who are being oppressed because you think that them being oppressed is perfectly fine as long as "order" is maintained then there is a problem.
But that's just my thoughts on the matter. I tend to be very pro-freedom and the idea of forcing people to be made tranquil set me against the Chantry, Templars and the entire Circle system from day one.

Then Sera. I tried. Really, I tried to get along with her. I placated her several times when I wanted to do the exact opposite. I'm not sure if the relationship gets better if you romance her, because as of now, she's the only character that doesn't grow. That doesn't change for the better. She's stagnant. Still bitching about the chantry, mages, magic, and whatnot and just doesn't get it.
Dorian grew during my playthrough. He forgave his father, and he realizes Tevinter needs a swift in the ass. Bull realized the qun wasn't for him and that he loves his Chargers. Varric took responsibility finally and stopped hiding from everything going on. Cole became more human...and Solas was surprised by my quizzy's unconventional decisions and respects him. Blackwall left and I haven't resolved his arc yet, but crap, he left because my quizzy inspired him to do better. And even Morrigan grew in character and I saw aspects of her that humanized her a great deal. She's one of my faves now when I use to think she was an arrogant snot. And Cassandra...I thought I would hate, but ended up being best buds with. She goes from zealot to a more balanced character.
The only one who is still the same? Sera. I don't get it. It's probably why you always have the option of getting rid of her.

Most of these are "at the moment" opinions, subject to change
Blackwall. I'm secretly glad every time he seems disappointed I found something without him. What an arse. Will probably never like him in any playthrough.
Also, Solas. I get it, you are the only one with insight and intelligence and we should be happy to simply be in your presence. Although, at least he seems like a polarizing character - I feel my opinion of him may potentially change with subsequent playthroughs and different choices made... but in my first playthrough: ugh.
Sera is a bit highschool, but for the most part I can handle her, so far. I kind of get what made her as she is but...
