Sera already behaves like she's been punched in the head a few too many times... But yeah, she is very annoying.

Wow, the amount of hate some characters getting is astounding. What happened with "I like them all" attitude - first excitements wore off?

Sera. She's like foul mouthed child that needs to be slapped and told to grow up.

I can't even understand Sera most of the time. She makes me think of David Brent (The Office UK) on cocaine.

There's no one I inherently want to punch though. My Mage Inquisitor and Vivienne are on good terms and see eye to eye.

Sera, and I'm shocked because I thought I'd love her. Didn't help that my first PC was a Dalish. Even as a somewhat-elfy-not-really-though Dalish they just clashed. After the final Solas romance scene

Spoiler

But I was too worried about losing approval to be super mean about it. I'm excited to go back and play another Dalish now that I've experienced the game once. I like to try and be friends with everyone the first time around so I pander like a mofo. Next time: prepare to argue, Sera.

Sera because everything to her is either stupid or weird and if its weird she doesn't like it. But she is pretty funny sometimes. And Viv and I don't think I have to explain that one. Solas and everyone else is cool. Even Blackwall even tho he lied about being a Grey Warden

Walking into the Lion's Den on this, but imma bite; what exactly is hypocritical about Vivienne? I see this word getting tossed around alot but it's not exactly a term I believe actually applies to her. She believes mages should cooperated and work within the system, which is exactly what she did. There's a clear distinction between that and straight up rebellion.

She lacks empathy for mages who have had harsher treatment, which is definitely a negative quality, but that doesn't make her a hypocrite.

Sera. I REALLY regret letting her join the Inquisition.

In my next playthrough, she will not be joining me.

Killing Fiona in Haven was the most satisfying thing ever.  I really applaud BioWare for letting us put down a MarySue like that.

I never read Stolen Throne, why is Fiona a Mary Sue exactly?

I don't understand it either, honestly. Never once is she hypocritical. She even admits that simply by being a Mage, she is a potential threat. If your Inquisitor is a Mage she flat out tells you that you're both threats.

I find she has a realistic and pragmatic view of the world. She brings it forward in a haughty, snobbish manner at times, but I've always found her to be rather respectful in her treatment of everyone.

Now, I'll grant you that she does get in some good arguments with Solas, but if you listen to them as they progress, you'll find that they do have a respect for each other because of their accomplishments as mages and for the power of their convictions.

Vivienne acknowledges the danger that every Mage represents and sets the facts out on the table without any apologies. She also has high standards of representation, etiquette and dress as she's lived nearly all her life in Orlais and all her adult life in the Game where you dress to impress.

She can't really help that she's grown accustomed to people meeting those standards.

Several

Dorian- always going on about himself. Even in his romance arc he comes off as self-absorbed and full of himself. Not necessarily punch him but wouldn't mind serving him a slice of humble pie with a side of humility gravy

The guy who sucker punched the Chantry mother/sister in Orlais- that scene makes me uncomfortable and felt totally unnecessary. Wouldn't mind clocking him back for her

Cassandra- although she's redeemable with a high enough approval I really wouldn't mind a small fight with her like you could trigger with Aveline on high rivalry (except you win)

The courtesan who orders you to find her ring at the Orlesian ball. Namely an elven character when she calls you rabbit. Wouldn't mind reminding her she's speaking to the Inquisitor.

Actually, she is not hypocrital. But she is utterly selfish. She cares nothing about anyone other then herself and will happily endorse the system so long as she is at the top and she doesn't face the same problems that the mages beneath her do. And that attitude brings the ire of many people.

I never just liked the all. Viv I hated from the beginning, Sera I just decided it was better for my blood pressure if I never ever talked to her or took her out (same with Cole).

I ended up being a tiny bit disappointed by Iron Bull but only because I was so hyped about the character before launch. I was really disappointed to learn that inspite of actually having a personality, he wanted to return to the Qun. B.S. Frankly there's a lot of B.S. in this game about trying to present the presentable sides of things. There is nothing of redeeming value about the Qun. Stop pretending there is. I really wish one of these games would just let me wipe them out. They are a cancer upon thought itself.

There's a lot of those "have our cake and eat it to" situations. Very fanfic. I haven't read the books someone mentioned earlier but just the tidbits you get from Fiona herself. "I'm a Grand Enchanter but I was a Grey Warden but I got to get out of the curse." Yeah, if thats typical of how she was treated in the books, I can see why people think shes a Sue. Not even a First Enchanter, no, Grand Enchanter. Huh.

I got along with Solas but I need to do this.

I'm actually surprised at all this Sera and Vivienne hate.

I don't necessarily agree with Viv but I do understand and respect the perspective she is coming from. Even though she does disapproves of several of my actions but I think we do respect each other, the occasional flirt doesn't hurt.

And Sera is really just a girl with a demented childhood, if you learn a bit about her past you will sort of understand why she behaves the way she is. The girl never had a normal childhood, so I just kind of treat her like a little sister that I need to guide, indulge in her harmless antics but be firm when needed to.

But Blackwall is such an intolerable coward who wants to escape from his problems via death. Worst companion ever. I'd kick him out of the Inquisition if not for the fact that I've invested some time in completing his personal quest.

He needs to stop being a coward and move on.

I don't need to understand anything about Sera. Bioware shouldn't have saddled my squad with such a lame character. They're normally better at this sort of thing.

But I didn't have any of the experience you had with Blackwall. He seemed a forthright hero to me. The one thing that bugged me about him was his claim that he was in Fereldan during the Fifth Blight. That made me mad. In the time we were travelling, he should surely have heard of the armies gathering under the Warden's banner and the deaths at Ostagar. He could have saved us from quite the dilemma in the first game.

And the perspective that Vivienne is coming from is that she's a bully and "lesser" people are toys for her amusement (her actions in her introduction and what you can get her to do are plenty enough proof of that, she will murder a man she's already rendered helpless on a whim in court in front of other nobles). In my book thats the very lowest sort of person. I don't need her "perspective" on that.

My initial impressions of Solas is good. The first conversation with him was rather enlightening. I sense he might even develop into a mentor figure for my mage Trevelyan. Then Skyhold came along and his approval just went for a skydive. DAT condescending sigh when i opted to ally with the Wardens. I managed to bring his approval back up eventually, did his side quest (you disapprove sparing a few foolish but harmless mages?!) and even got the scene where he said he respected my Quizzie.

And then the epilogue rolled along and....F*** Solas. F*** him.

You are the one who decides to recruit Sera, not them. Additionally, she is the only companion you have the option of kicking out of the Inquisition after you do recruit her. It seems the logical solution to such a problem.

She's tucked away in a pretty out of the way spot once you get her. I just never got around to kicking her out. Fortunately, its easy to forget she even exists.

It's interesting that for me I had the initial impression from recruitment on and then some characters went South for me while others achieved high North.

Solas for me was iffy at first but interesting! Then I when we got to Haven I was like ugh FINE whatever Solas stfu. And then suddenly I just liked him more and more having conversations with him. I'm going to roll a fem elf next play through and romance him. Yep I spoiled all of it for myself and I'm still going to do it. I love his character

Sera: wow did not expect her. I thought she'd be more serious- and grim like Leliana is now in DAI. But no she is addle brained and cannot see beyond the underdog...Ever. She's basically an extremist hiding behind her maniacal little laugh. I have high approval with her but damn does it cost me a lot to be that nice to her. The way I see it my Inquisitor is incredibly diplomatic because that is her personality naturally but she also opts to let others hang themselves because ultimately she can use whatever help she can to get the jobs done. So I just avoid Sera and I rarely add her to my party. Her personal quest is ultra annoying. My Inquisitor feels zero desire to be her therapist.

Viv: She's beautiful and I have personally dubbed her Queen Vivienne. I cannot stand her. My fem mage Treyvalyne (or however you spell our name lol) has different ideas about how to approach the mage quandary and wants nothing to do with Viv's ideas or pov about it. Viv gains everything from the status quo and doesn't want to risk anything for freedom which seems cowardly to me. I've heard her sermon about "protection" etc but she's basically ok with segregation and my mage feels there is a better more responsible way vs having permanent babysitters/guardians.

I don't want to punch either of them but lets just say my Quizzy isn't having drinks with either of them- ever.

Oh and re: Wynne vs Viv- I actually liked Wynne. I liked her grandmotherly yet sensual voice and her attitude and my Warden always viewed Wynne as an asset and a mentor even if I didn't agree with her 100% such as when Wynne tries to convince you about certain things regarding your relationship with Alistair. Wynne was a softer touch as well. Viv hits you over the head with slinky witticisms about how wrong you are DAHLING and it doesn't strike the same note of caring that Wynne does. Also Dorian>Viv anyday. He's mah bff.  ;)
