Sera, she is one mixed up ball of nonsense and I didn't like how childish she was at times. I enjoy the companions that like to have good time but I prefer more of someone like Varric for that type of character.
That character you want to punch....

I still want to punch my Hawke from Dragon Age 2. I can give alot of good reasons on why:
1: After the one blood mage guy did sick stuff to her mom she started hating mages with a vengence.
2: I think I had my Hawke treat Anders like crap. Regardless I did kill him late in 2. When my Inquisitor asked about him she was like "I don't even know if there was ever a Anders". Seriously? geez, how cold.
3: The whole "You are not my sister!" speech to Bethany from my Hawke then killing her was ruthless.
4: Not really helping out with the attack in Haven when she knows and dealt with the main villain back in a DLC on 2.
5: Slept with Isabella (Then wanted her dead after her betrayal), slept with Fenris (also believes in his ideals that mages are bad), and has a relationship with Merril (even though I tried to kiss Tarris in front of her but Merril denied me the pleasure).
6: Sided with Merdith and acted like she was pro templar. My Inquisitor did side with the templors but I am having my inquisitor show compassion to mages.
I also want to punch Sebastion for not chipping in too. I do a measly side quest for the war room only for him to give me 200 gold!? It's like what....did he tell Curran/Leliana/Josephine "That is highly unlikely, I'll pass" (quotes if he tries to unlock a box and fails) and gave them the gold and slammed the door on them? what a jerk. Yet I helped him regain his birthright. The nerd.

Actually, she is not hypocrital. But she is utterly selfish. She cares nothing about anyone other then herself and will happily endorse the system so long as she is at the top and she doesn't face the same problems that the mages beneath her do. And that attitude brings the ire of many people.
Incorrect. She wants the Circle System to remain but she never once supports the abuse of mages. She advocates for reform of the circle without the "Woe is the plight of mages" slant to it.

I get get the feeling Vivienne enjoys far too much her position and doesn't want competition. So better keep everyone locked up, but decently. Don't want them to rise up again and ruin her reputation.
Everything she's doing is to her own advantage. She's worse than Morrigan.
I just feel like going upstairs and pushing her off the balcony each time I enter the hall.
Can't say I wasn't expecting her to be a snobbish schemer, but that's just too much for me.

Am I the only one who would like to punch Varric, at least for a few times? I mean...
"Dude, if you are in MY inquisition it's just because I had no choice. I didn't like you in Dragon Age 2 and nothing has changed. FFS I wanted to punch you even when I WAS Hawke, and that's WTF considering we were supposed to be best friends" ![]()
To be honest I don't have a real motivation to dislike him, I simply do. Because... you know, he is such a smartass.
Edit: It's a shame that Cassandra failed at making my day when the time came. Still love her, though.

You want to punch the one truly decent truly level headed companion from DA2 (aside from Aveline I guess)?

I would have loved to give Vivienne a Fade Slap and Sera a Fade Punch.
My Inquisitor is a Rift Mage, so Fade Slap = Slap + Fade Power ; Fade Punch = Punch + Fade Power...
Physical damage + spirit damage + weakening + general overall satisfaction...

I wouldn't call Aveline level headed. More boring than anything.

Varris is made of so much win that it cannot be contained, thus he became a writer and storyteller. (Which made him even more made of win in my book)
I was slightly disappointed that there are no flirt options for Varric. Seems like it would make for amusing banter at least. ![]()
As for Vivienne? Qunari headbutt anyone?

Hahaha woah, That's...it's so weird to see, I'll never see it myself, but..speechless.
I *almost* want to do a secondary playthrough where I'm a huge jerk to most of the characters, just to see what kinds of conversations happen.

Nope, all the companions are pretty interesting and have a good dynamic to me. Sera does test my patience sometimes though. The only person I really wanted to slap was Connor in Redcliffe. Ugh, I get why he is like he is but I'ma need him to man up.
Where is Connor? I haven't found him. I was also looking for Bella, but I can't seem to find her either.

Sera. It's like she chooses to be uneducated! She doesn't care for history and has an intense fear of magic (which is fine). She lives & thinks very much in the present and doesn't have consideration for the future. She's brash, vulgar, and I can't stand her laughing! As some people commented, she's like a british chav.
The only negative part about her that I'm ok with is not caring for elvhen culture because of her upbringing.
Sera reminds me of many of my students, except substitute a fear of reading for the fear of magic. For this reason, I rarely take her with me.

I actually liked all the companions, but I appreciate the "punch Solas" video being posted. I could never choose such a line (even after witnessing the game's ending), but it's good to be able to watch such a scene with someone else's inquisitor.

Conner is in Redcliffe by the Docks. He's having a conversation with someone but you can go up and talk to him. At least he was there before I chose to side with either the mages or the templars.

Cole hunts and pecks to type, and tries to make use of the keys left out because they feel hurt and lonely. Cassandra's a mod, definitely, but she occasionally participates in the fun.
Ah but...on topic...I want to punch Vivienne and Sera. Vivienne is so high and mighty, and in a way so is Sera. I'd rather punch Sera, though, because at least Viv doesn't just go around calling everything she doesn't agree with or understand stupid.
So Cassandra is Allan Schumacher? I can dig it.

Love how so many opinions differ on this. While finding Vivienne pretentious I can hardly fault her given her background. Her viewpoints on the rebellion at times conflict with mine own but they are valid, respectable points with strong sense behind them. Couldn't respect Solas any more than I already do for seconds. And Sera, well... she's certainly entertaining. I view her as comical relief, the joker of the bunch. I've no qualms against her for it or anyone for that matter. If I am to find fault I guess I could stand to hear Cole utter one intelligible phrase that wasn't enigmatic.

Sera. All the time, Sera. Every time she opens her mouth and tells me to "remember the little people," as though I haven't been spending the entire game doing just that. She reminds me so much of a modern-day pseudo-intellectual college student that it makes the hair on the back of my neck stand up. The part I hate about her the most is that she never changes her attitude or her world view, unlike the other companions. She just keeps on running down the path of stupidity. I couldn't even put up with her jokes toward the end because they were so juvenile - it was funny in the beginning, and then I realized she was a flaming moron. All of her shenanigans took on a new light after that.

Good show my fellow King.
Your college student analogy actually brought it all into focus. Her unfocused idealism, her jokes which always seem like either in-jokes or parroted memes, her complete irreverence for anything even for people who by her witness should have earned it from her. Yeah, this is making sense.

Out of curiosity - those people who do not like Vivienne, did you like Wynne in DAO? Because I was expecting a high class b*** but with every conversation I see more and more Wynn in her - old, experienced, happy with things as they were and because of all of this feeling like she has right to judge your actions.
If you tolerated one what is the problem with another?
Nah they aren't the same at all. Wynne's quite preachy at times but she uses all that she had for the greater good. Vivienne's just aligning with power to gain more power. And Wynne's preaching (for me) is based on morals, Vivienne's just based on her self-idolation.
I would never say Vivienne is like Carver. Carver died most of the runs I did because I'd rather have Bethany than him. Varric/Cassandra/Vivienne has been the best banter so far.
If there's a character I can't stand in DA:I, it's Sera. I've come close a few times of telling her to hit the road and don't look back.
Carver's on GW/friendship path is really great story actually. He's actually my preferred character on DA2 based on char development.

I dismissed Sera from my party the last play through. Just got tired of all the class envy the rich are evil and the little guy's are great cant. It got so old that I just didn't want to listen to it anymore. Grow up, Sera, and do it somewhere other than in my fortress.
Vivienne is a pain in the backside, but she can certainly kick some serious butt in the field, so she stays, we just don't talk much..
Solas reminds me of Spock, Holmes and all the other characters of literature who use thinking as their primary way of dealing with the world. Once you don't expect emotion you get along just fine. They're all greens, or ISTP's INTPs, ISTJs or INTJs.
Blackwall's a good ole' boy. If he had chew, he'd be spitting all over Thedas.- easy to get along with.
Varrick - love Varrick, just the right amount of sweetness and sarcasm mixed together. Bianca's a lucky.....
Cole - sweetest little sibling around. Don't mind helping him grow up and figuring out who/what he really is.
Dorian - I want to take him shopping. He'd know just what looked best on me! And he'd sit with me after the break-up and tell me it's going to be okay.
Josephine - Hey, girlfriend, let's get a mani and a pedi, and talk trash all night.
Leliana - Damn girl, you're scaring me!
Cullen - Ah, what can I say? Cullen...Cullen (deep sigh). I was absolutely, positively, perfectly satisfied with Cullen.
Who did I want to hit? Sera for being annoying and Solas for breaking my heart without telling me why. I like answers too and he didn't give any. That's a terrible thing to do to an INTP and he should have known better.
