There's an achievement for it? That's nice to know. Thought it was a bit weird when I killed them all on the PC version and didn't get anything. Acknowledgement by the characters ingame of my dragon slaying awesomeness would have been preferable to an achievement though.

The achievement says "slay 10 high-dragons". I don't think the Crestwood one is a high-dragon. That one didn't count on my achievement progress.
It is a high dragon. The achievement progress thing is bugged, it's better to go by the in-game high-dragon kill counter. I've killed six in game but according to my achievement progress, I've only killed four.

Confirmed. I have killed 10 dragons and the in-game journal says so. However, after killing the 10th dragon, the Dragon Bane achievement did NOT unlock. I'm playing on XBox One. I was hoping that the endgame dragon(s) might fix this achievement, but it doesn't look like it.
Edit: Never mind. Reloaded the previous save and blew the Highland Ravager to kingdom come (again) and it popped.
You were lucky, 3 in my first playthrough and 7 in my second and it didn't pop up. I went into my first again and killed 2 easy ones, and didn't pop up. Went back into second play through and KE one of the ones left, it popped up. 3 extra dragons to get the trophy.
Reload before your last dragon kill and kill it again. The achievement will pop. For some reason it's as if it doesn't count 1 of them.

If only it was just one. I have killed 11 dragons (in two playthroughs) and the achievement counter says 5.
It unlocked for me upon killing my 11th in game (after killing the 1st in my second playthrough) so for some it seems to miss one dragon. But reading above it seems to be all over the place for other players.
Doesn't unlock, will not unlock, should have been credited with the quest, but does not. No option to load left
I have killed my last Dragon, the hardest, the third tower, a few times with no gained achievement, I could load as far back as Vinsomer the second last dragon i killed. My saves do not go much further back on 90 hours of playthrough. This error is absurd, to not have coding credited with the quest, is a freaking ridiculous error. This game is now, unplayable, cannot be completed.
Why is there even a dragon expert anyway? Obviously they intended this as a sequence, like most of there other questing which was not open world. Because most of the quests have a tendency to be done according to linaer progression, before stuff magically appears, disappears. Rather then functuning for completion as intended Open World per zone progression.
Just to update this I got this achievement today on PC. There was no dinging noise but when I checked achievements it was there. I killed 10 only.
PS4 and it didn't pop up for me even though my collections said I'd bagged 10 high dragons. My last dragon was the Highland Ravenger. Anyway, I reloaded an earlier save from when I had 3 dragons left (Sandy Howler, Highland Ravenger, and Kaltenzhan) and re-fought Kaltenzhan.
Once Kaltenzhan was down the trophy popped. So for whatever reason the count seems to be off by 1.
Eta: this is all in my 1st PT on hard with a single character, not sure if that makes a difference.

I reloaded a save 3 times (in addition to the original 10 kills) and I still have not gotten this achievement (on PC). I just beat the game so I'm hoping my 2nd playthrough will unlock it.
I have the dragons achievement that won't go and oddly enough the 'recruit all companions' just doesn't trigger either. On my 4th playthrough where I have progressed far enough to gather everyone.
This achievement did trigger for me when i continued my game (3rd playthrough - finished) But.. the following achievements are all bugged for me:
- Belle of the ball (100 approval in court) Got that in all 3 playthroughs
- Focused (10 skill points in 1 tree)
- Liberator (3 keeps liberated in 1 playthrough)
- Peerless (Level up inquisition to rank 10) - This 1 makes no real sense... Once the vendor with the reputation things came to Skyhold i got it to 20.
- The brightest of their age (all companions recruited)
- Trailblazer (setup a camp.. i got them all..) And i did get Pathfinder?!
- Veteran (level 20 in single player) hell i've been lvl 24 and 25 in playthroughs.
Herald and Inquisitor did both popup in my last playthrough since it was on Nightmare.
And ; On Burning Wings can only be obtained if you drink from the well yourself i believe.
Same problem here on xbox 360 I only got Ravenger dragon left killed him but no achieve I reloaded my save and killed the ravenger dragon again and still the achievement will not unlock why can't game developers test the achievemnts before the release the game
BIOWARE, FIX THIS PROBLEM!!!!
You made a patch that takes all the cheating glitches out, ok great, now how about you fix all the other damn problems with the game like missions not finishing, achievements not popping. I am a huge fan but I am extremely disappointed. Don't lose more fans and fixes these problems with your game that I and everyone else paid a lot of money to play. Again very disappointed.
Yea did all that work and no acheivement kinda upset.
I got the trophy on my last playthrough, although I don't know if this is because of a carry over from an earlier game.

Where you connected to Origin when you slayed the last dragon? It won't sync your achievements if you're not connected to Origin.
