I respect her points regarding mages but it feels so institutionalized. She gives me the impression of preferring company of sharks and allowing the sheep to die or be neglected. She tries to help me by mentoring about fashion or the game which is fine, it guess since my characters aren't from nobility. I once imagined her having a softer voice and realized her dialogue wasn't bad. But the whole point of her character is intimidation though.

I usually keep her out of my party since she causes tension towards one or both of the other companions.

I love Vivienne, and I support everything she says. I will also always make her DIvine in my future playthroughs, since she represents everything I think Thedas needs in a new Divine.

In real life, I probably would not be able to stand her. I loathe almost everything about her in real people I know. But I absolutely adore her as a character because of how brilliant and fascinating she is. She's sort of the anti-Bethany to me for that reason.

And I value a well done character over a likeable one, so she's at the top of my list when it comes to companions.

I don't agree with Vivienne personally, but I have to say her confidence and intelligence is refreshing, and her banter is amusing. She's a well written character despite my personal difference of opinion with her, and she can hold her own arguing her points. Plus... her banter with Bull... so awesome.

She is a snob, elitist, and opportunist. Can't stand her.

She's smart, witty, opinionated , but a bit of a hypocritical ******. I honestly don't mind the bitchiness, she pulls it off extremely well, but her stances on mages and mage freedom along with her desire and insistance to play The Game just wreaks of an "I'm above the rules." philosophy to me. I won't say I've completed her personal quest, so this may view may change in time, but IMO if she really wanted to advocate Mages in the Circles she wouldn't have been throwing parties, freezing the nephews of important nobility with magic(and out in the open no less), trying out the latest Orlesian masks, or vying for any position that wasn't Grand Enchanter. She would have been leading by example.

I would love Vivienne if I hated mages and only had love for the higher echelons of society.

I respect her but she is the furthest thing from a friend.

Vivienne is an opportunist. She knows what she wants and how to get that. She has good ideas, but if she is not in the right position, her execution is lacking. Her own well-being and opinions are above everything else, although she listens to reason.

I think that as the player character, you basically play the game with her. If you smear enough honey around her mouth, she does whatever you want, while still keeping her own interests at the front.

I love her as a character. My PCs get reasonably along with her, never fully supporting her, but also never truly opposing her. I don't want her as an enemy. And it's cute how she tries to lecture you.

I kind of wonder how old she is.

I'll admit, I haven't put much time to get to know her. Her intro was cool, after that she slowly went downhill with me. I'm playing a Dalish Archer who (after living among a culture of free mages) feels that Mages have a right to their freedom. That's probably the quickest way to lose points with her.

On my second playthrough, though, I'm playing a Mage who thinks the Circles are a necessary evil. He'll want to fight for a reform of how the Circles are handled, but ultimately thinks they're needed. I think he'll get along with Vivienne quite famously.

I adore her as a character. Wicked, gorgeous, opinionated, and a mage to boot? Damn sign me up.

But wow if she was a real person we would not get along... at all. Her controlling nature and "my way or the high-way" attitude would get old fast though I would never say any of this to her face because I value my life.

That being said, she's definitely the HBIC. Don't mess with her unless you want to get wrecked.

I like her and I also like Sera.

Let me phrase it this way. I appreciate what they offer the game, and it helps me roleplay different Inquisitors different ways. My dwarf Inquisitor gets along great with Sera and shares her opinion on Vivienne, but my Qunari Inquisitor is cordial with both, whereas my future human mage Inquisitor will be a loyalist and will get along marvelously with Vivienne.

The characters each add a dynamic that I can appreciate and allows me to roleplay more effectively, well not more effectively but it gives them some more ground to stand on.

I also love her points she brings up about the Circle's, addressing concerns I have had as a gamer on the Circle System itself.

I'm still not a fan of the Chantry, but Vivienne has gone a long way to easing most of my concerns about Circle's, especially after DA2.

I liked her until she talked to Cole. After hearing that banter & later on realizing that she never treats him better, I wanted to slap the **** out of her and tell her to leave. Overpowered, stuck up, *****! She'll need ALOT of barrier to protect herself if I get my hands on her.

I am doing another playthrough ( 2.5 already lol) and I am really thinking of not picking her at all. She was almost never in my group anyway. I understand her character and what she is all about. She's all about the high life and the politic and keeping the appearance. I can respect that, but her overall smugness ****** me off.

I knew I'd disagree with her, but at the same time, I don't want companions that are simply parroting what I want. I didn't expect her viewpoint of the Wardens to annoy me as it did. I don't mind some of her Circle ideals, as she is a Loyalist. She is elitist, and in many ways, good for my gameplay. She may object to my decisions from A to Z and back again, but at the end of the day my character is the Inquisitor, and she's joined my team, not the other way around.

EDIT: I do think she's an interesting character, and I think she's impressive as a companion and a character.

I liked her until I started hearing her party banter. Then she just annoyed me. Oddly enough, in personal chat, she was fine.

She's a Knight-Enchanter. That's 90% of the reason I like her. The other 10% is pure bile.

I'm surprised, i thought more people would like her, especially when [minor spoiler]she chews out fiona and kills that noble on her recruitment mission. Don't get me wrong, i didn't agree with a thing she said but that doesn't stop her from being one of my favorite companions, evil characters are just more interesting in my opinion

I didn't think she was evil. I just thought she was entitled with no concept of the world outside her little orlesian bubble. The way she looks down upon everyone as well, I was actually hoping a decision came up where I could choose to kill her, violently. I actually wonder if i played the game again and got her approval low enough I could punch her like you can Solas. She seemed to me like a self hating, templars can do no wrong, entitled mage which would have been fine had she gone through some sort of warped trauma that meant the environment she grew up in shaped her opinion but no.

The way she spoke about Morrigan didn't help either. I don't think I've ever disliked a character from a video game anywhere near as much as her. I'd rather have had Corypheus in skyhold than her! At least he would be interesting!

Rant over. Some people like her, I can't see why but to each their own.

I have to agree. It is surprising that there are people who do like her. I for one never found anything she said to be funny. The way she talks its this high and mighty attitude.

Spoiler

I don't expect every single companion to agree with me, that would be silly. However with Viv its a whole different arena. And her whole side quest was not heart wrenching, it was funny because I was like, "Wow there is someone who would actually tolerates you on a imitate level!?!"

I am still confused as hell on how the hell she has the option to be Divine. Makes no sense.

Ah well, back to my game and dealing with Miss crap don't stink.
