She's fine.  She's ambitious, which I normally don't like.  I don't care how it's played, I have yet to meet anyone or any agenda that is styled as "ambitious" that had good intentions at heart.  The most you can do is channel it to a worthwhile cause.  Ambition is like aggression.  It needs tight reigns and constant scrutiny.

On the other hand, she's smart and I almost entirely agree with her point of view on the mage rebellion.

The net result is that she's not somebody I trust or love, but she's at least worth listening to.

Well...she's a ******. Sera even says so, lol. There are a lot of characters I dislike more in the games thus far, though. Say...Blackwall ans DA2 Anders. And she's more often right than wrong.

Bit off topic, but did anyone else accidently refuse her companion quest because they were thinking 'Hmm, mage wants ingredients and won't tell me what they're for.... Nope, way too dodgy and deja vu...'

I really really really don't like her. And that's what I love about the character!

She is a person who demands respect, who knows exactly who she is, who she wants to be, and refuses to let anything phase her, much less distract her from her goal. She is extremely skilled, smart, and talented, and is completely deserving over the great deal of respect that my Inquisitor shows her.

But as much as I respect her, I really don't like her as a person. She has this weird sense of how things must be and is utterly unwilling to  consider anything beyond her own narrow view, treating anything less as nothing more then misguided flights of fancy. She shows utter disdain for anything that is less then perfect in her eyes and is not shy about letting you know about it.

And this is why I LOVE the character, even as much as I dislike her personally. No, I love the character ESPECIALLY because I can so utterly disliker her personally and still have such respect for her. That's some beautiful writing right there.

The best part is listening to her interactions with Cole, it's amazing to see him just completely destroy her character. It's not even intentional, Cole is just trying to help. But he naturally sees right past Viv's cold hard mask that she's built up around herself, and inadvertently exposes her true self. Because of Cole I now see Vivienne as a scared littler girl, so afraid of being anything less then perfect. She's obsessive compulsive, doing everything in her power to stay in control, to be absolutely perfect, utterly terrified of what it might mean if she were to slip even just a little.

It's amazing, and it really sheds light on who she really is and what her true motivations are.

I will always keep Vivienne as a close ally, but never a close friend.

I was hesitant about her character then did her personal quest. That surprised me, and saw her in a more sympathetic light. Did not agree with everything about the character's views.

I initially felt very distant from the woman. Her personality grew on me a bit, though. I like someone with Class and Style, with a sense of practicality. I still feel a bit distant from her, she can be surprisingly cold and calculating.

Beautiful yet Terrifying. Hmm.

I neither like her nor feel overly impressed by her writing, because I don't think "Morrigan's evil twin" is necessarily a concept that requires a great deal of inspiration to come up with.

True. She has vastly inferior hair and doesn't have the excuse of being a crazy demigod's tykebomb for being an egotistical self-centered ass.

Well, she's also a horrible person politically, though thankfully joining the Inquisition seems to have cut off her ability to actually do anything about it.

I hardly think Sera calling her that is proof of anything. Sera doesn't have high opinions of many. Sera saying something bad about someone just comes to be background noise after a while.

That said, she's right for once.

She rubbed me the wrong way right from her introduction. I explored her dialog options in the intro. She starts with bullying but if you indicate that your honor is insulted, she will shatter the man's body right there in court, all for her own amusement. He was just a boy acting out trying to save face and its not like the Inquisitor needs her to protect him/her from a wannabe Chevalier.

I don't see her selling her people to Tevinter.

At first she does come of like she is a bish, but once you get her in your party and see her talk to your other companions you start to like her, plus she is a knight enchanter so thats a plus too.

I like the character. Now if my characters like her is another story.

Navilia Trevelyan: agrees with her on almost all points. Of course Navilia is a pro-chantry lady and to her vivi speaks wisely as a leader.

Enansal Lavellan: she on the other hand don't see eye to eye with vivi despite being mages, but their training was so different. Enansal thinks the idea of the circle is stupid, but then again she grew up as the first of the Lavellan clan, so her view of the circle and the chantry is rather negative.

*spoilers much about the Divine choice but it is on the spoilers forums so my fault*

but seriously, i need to kill her or make her leave (and seriously discredit her) before she ever becomes the Divine in my playthrough. can we do that?

she is the only companion ever in all my games that I really want her to leave but there is not even a choice to do so (unlike Sera).

I love Vivi! And I adore how Bull calls her "ma'am" with an inherent worry that he'll be scolded if he doesn't.

She is absolutely repulsive as a human being. A pretentious **** who has a very limited, impaired, and dangerous view of magic. She is unable to even comprehend criticisms of either the circle of magi or the chantry. She barely understands the fade of spirits and demons. Her obvious "game" playing is just as repugnant in her as it is with the rest of the 'nobs in Orlais.

She is well written, which is why its possible to hate her so much. If she were just badly written, she would just be annoying. She's like Miranda from ME2; a spiteful elitist who has nothing earned to be superior about.

We agree on little other than fashion.

Which it turns out, is sufficient for our relationship to be rather delightful. I don't have to see eye to eye with characters to like/care about them (Shale, Fenris, Carver, Alistair).

This is the first DA game where I enjoy my time with all the Mages so much, I can't decide who to exclude because I'd like to bring them all. That...has never happened before.

She's in the trio of my favorite mage characters in Dragon Age universe, next to Dorian and Morrigan.

I expected to like her from the beginning and was not disappointed. A mage pragmatist truly. She respects order and power. And her actions brought mages as a collective far more good than those of the likes of Anders, Fiona or Adrian.

I like her. She knows half the world hates her for being a Mage and the other half hates her for having a controversial opinion among her own kind. She doesn't have the luxury to be sweet and sensitive to people lest they use her as a doormat, especially in Orlais. You know she's worked very hard to get to where she is right now. The fact that she shows you what she does with the heart you collected for her is huge as you see her having to deal with something pretty sensitive.

I would've liked to make her Divine but sadly I didn't agree with her ideas. I do think that had it been simply to fill the position she'd be best suited. Plus a Mage as Divine.
