Yes, the title is a little sarcastic. The purpose of this thread is to ask the question, "Why not?"

 

I'll leave 64 bit game systems for someone else and concentrate the OP on one area that just aggravates me to no end.

 

I'll also leave aside the save game limit with the question, "Why?"

 

There is no save game manger worthy of the thought. Never mind the name. Why not?

 

It's still 2014, right?  A save game manager that actually provides information about your saves and helps you make decisions about what to cut and what to keep is necessary if you continue to insist on save game limits. I will freely admit that I should be managing game saves as I go, but I don't. I'm probably not going to start, either. Habits of thought are a deep well, that I'm not climbing out of any time soon. I also admit that I'm a save spammer.  Decades of working with computers have made me one.

 

A developer may legitimately ask, "What is my responsibility in regards to this problem?" I don't have a good answer other than, "Make my life easier." I realize that building any program on a computer requires assets that are not being used for some other, worthwhile project. Let me say that I don't expect a save game manager to be provided for DAI, although it would be nice. I'm just asking, in your next game, build the system with managing saves in mind right from the start. A save game manager doesn't need to be rocket surgery. Just some kind of info about game state is all that is necessary. Character name and level. Chapter ID, save location and open quest would be plenty.  Is that too much to ask? Thank you.

The limitation is on console. not pc

as for 64 bit. It's so the game can take advantage of more memory
