Out of the two options hidden blades or chain lightning which of them is worthwhile? For crafting i mean via mastercrafting.

???

One is an Assasin (spec) skill, the other is a Mage (non spec) one, so you cannot take one or the other. Hidden blades for an Assassin is a must, however, while CL for a mage is not; still they have nothing to do one with the other because they are not same classes' skills.

I sincerely don't understand your question at all.

I meant via crafting, which of these two option is better.

IMO Hidden Blades.

But it also depends what you prefer: if you want some AOE damage (because your party synergy is focused on it) then go with Chain Lighting. However I sincerely think that strong single target damage is always preferable to mediocre AOE one for crafting purposes.

The Walking Bomb mastercraft deals more single-target damage than Hidden Blade. Hidden Blade deals physical damage (mitigated by armor), while Walking Bomb deals Spirit damage. Chain Lightning is very decent for damaging multiple ranged enemies, but Walking Bomb once again does a better job for AoEing a cluster of enemies.

another thing i am noticing chain lightning is allowing me to do the sleep combo myself. SInce my crits weaken and chain lightning shocks the targets. btw what does walking bomb?

Edit: Ah need lustrous cotton.

Yes, that's true. If you have a way to make the combo proc efficiently then it is obviously a better choice. My suggestion was only taking in consideration base factors, not combo synergies.

Not exactly. Walking Bomb mastercraft applies a 5 second DoT, dealing 50% (tier 1) weapon damage per tick, and then explode for 50% weapon damage in an AoE that knocks down. It's pretty ridiculous compared to other proc-based mastercrafts.

Also, there are two types of proc based mastercrafts. The first type has a fixed proc chance of 10% at all tiers, but higher tiers increases the ability's weapon damage multiplier: 50% tier 1, 75% tier 2, 100% tier 3.

The other type has a fixed damage multiplier (same as the original ability's), and higher tiers increase the proc chance: 2% tier 1, 5% tier 2, X% tier 3. A second tier Shield Bash mastercraft would have 5% chance to deal a 300% damage shield bash that has a small AoE, knocks down, triggers combo, and deals extra damage to Guard. And yes, it triggers on even bloody arrows. (Walking Bomb still offers greater damage output, but Shield Bash on arrows is hilarious and goes straight to Sera)

How do these mastercrafts behave with friendly fire on?

Ah hell will stick with chain lightning as it has one positive that both walking bomb and hidden blades dont. It makes my sword silver and thereby getting rid of the shitty dragonbone golden colour.

It doesn't. It deals weapon damage. If you put it on a staff, it will deal whatever type of damage the staff deals.
