Get proper gear, and dragons start hitting you for only 1 damage with physical attacks.

Of course, you still need to deflect projectiles and dodge breath attacks.

My problem is Damage, even either running Solos (for rift/fire) Vivienne, and Sera, I find it just takes forever. What's the DPS on your companion weapons? Sera is 129 (item level 16), Vivienne 96 (18), and Solos 96 (15).

The DPS in my party stack tons and tons of Attack %. The lowest (mage) is at around 50%, and the highest (rogue) is at 74%.

And that's from gear right? Or Abilities?

The simpliest way to kill dragon on any difficulty solo is:

play as mage/take over a mage

make the dragon attack ur team

fall back to safe distance, when ur team is down the dragon will be stuck standing in one place while you kill him as mage (UNLIMITED MAGE ATTACK RANGE FTW)

stand in one place shooting until dragon dies.

While that is more time consuming than anything, the game tends to bug out if you use a ranged attack from outside the zone where the dragon will attack you back, this causes the loot to not drop from the kill, making all that time you spent hitting said dragon for 20 mins a complete waste.

The loot drops using this tactic but teleports near your location.

yup, the drop teleports to the location where you stand in the area of 10-15 meters away from your outside ai range spot.

this has to be fixed.

If you exploit range though you only hurt yourself (or not if you don't care).

I didnt post this to show off that i abuse range exploit. I posted this in hopes that someone from Bioware reads it and they remove this in a patch.

Until they fix the tactics menu (at least for the PC) there really is no way to kill a dragon on Nightmare at the appropriate level unless you employ some level of cheese (outside range fighting, KE invulnerability).

While trying to legit take down a dragon I have run into the following issues:

1.  Characters simply do not follow commands issued to them in the tactics menu (especially if you switch viewpoints to see what is going on).

2.  Hold position is non functional causing my players to run directly into the dragons aoe.

3.  Characters warp to other characters randomly  (especially annoying when it is the tank.

Right now dragon fights are visually stunning but an annoying buggy mess.

The DPS value is missleading. Check the weapon damage value to compare weapons. The best staff (crafted) is around 72 weapon damage. My mages and Sera are ripping everything apart. This started around Lvl15+ and gets better and better. Most dragon fights are Lvl15+, so they go down fast and clean. Each dragon except the first one from Hinterlands was down in 2 minutes or less on nightmare with controlled tank and party on AI.
