Depends, do you want to create a contrast so something stands out or for it to be complimentary?

For contrast oranges and reds go well. For complimentary colours shades of purple would work as well as some shades of green depending on how dark the blue is. Grey/silver could also work well I suppose.

Silver tends to go well with either of those, too.

@ Joyce - have you had any luck with your texture? I don't mean to pester...just curious.

I thought I made progress yesterday. I managed to get my t and s files looking pretty close to the game's textures...and then my game crashed when I tried to import. Couldn't even get it to load :(  Some kind of graphics card error.

I haven't really worked any more on the qunari texture, working on the normal maps in general to figure them out, because if I import a normal map that I have exported and haven't even edit it comes out looking different, specially on the left side of the faces.

I have no idea about that. I just assumed every complexion got one of each overlay, but I might be totally wrong, as I havent really played with it.

I would love to figure out the normal maps. I think, as Skaramoosh said, that is what is causing the little annoying ridge on the female lips. That drives me insane.

considering the colors in t and s, what roughness and such should it be on skin? Anyone knows?

What's the difference between a gloss map and a spec map? Aren't they the same thing?

A gloss map defines the size of the specular highlight per pixel also called specular power, where as  a typical specular map defines the intensity per pixel meaning it represents the amount of light reflected.

Finally! I am now putting up my female complexion for download. It works on the human, elf and dwarf faces. Qunari is coming too :) Use the mod manager to merge with your other mods. This replaces the 3rd complexion in the cc, not sure what happens if you use 2 mods that replaces that. I hope you will like it, I haven't experienced any blackfaces with this one so hopefully it is fixed. And if you do use the mod I'd love to see your inquisitor, just pm me the pic, if you want to :)

Hello!
I would like to ask for a little help.:) The mod manager does not work for me unfortunately (it is a strange problem, it will not let me select a Mod Path), but I would very much like to use your face texture. Is there any way to use only this mod and without the mod manager? Thank you in advance!

Do we need to paint in the individual channels, then?

What i found strange is that Alistair's "king" armor seems to be the only one that is different compared to the others... not sure why

Just to be clear, Adela: Can I just paint in each channel over my original texture? Looking at the pj s file, it seems like each color is just overlayed on top of the texture. I'm not certain how to paint in channels using GIMP, so I will have to do some research. I just want to make sure I have the right idea, if that makes sense?

I would advise  to 1st go into the channel u wish to change, select it,  copy it, and make a  new document in GIMP and paste it there that way u can do layers if you wish without  it being disruptive to the original , after your done making the necessary changes merge ur layers and then paste whatever u made in whatever channel u chose to edit but before doing that make sure u backup ur original just in case

also  note make sure that whatever u decide to paint is in gray scale colors

Hello.

May be using different shader, which takes different input. Wouldn't be surprised if they went through multiple iterations and not all models ended up using the one they settled on eventually.

btw, it looks like the alpha channel is used in some _s textures, too. Flemeth's body texture e.g. If how they use this one is any indication it may be marking the 'skin' parts which get affected by skin colour tint, but then I also saw one that had solid white alpha for some reason.

Thank you for being so patient with me. One last thing, if you don't mind. I'm still not clear on the t maps. I'm not even sure what they are, and google doesn't seem to have a clue either. I made something that resembled one, but it crashed my game and gave my graphics card some kind of fit, so I'm guessing whatever I did was not what it was looking for.

maybe, but  i think in Alistair's case it might have switched the channels instead? So far he is the only one that i came across that has that type of rgb channels but who knows... maybe it has something to do with the shaders  too

as for flemeth and the alpha, it might be just a mask? Im not quite sure i can look into it and see whats up

All the t maps  have the color red, green and blue witch determines  what color will they be in game like for example tattoos and makeup armor etc everything that is customizable in game will share those colors

Can anyone merge anything right now with the mod manager? I've got the index out of range problem and was wondering if anyone can merge my mod with the official patch?

I can merge everything without crashing it seems. Post what you need and I'll merge it for you
