Cassandra's skin colour (face) is not controlled by a shader. It is on all on her face diffuse map.

Spoiler

See it doesn't have an alpha channel? What you see is what you get.

She does have a shader for her body though which uses the same diffuse as all humans and elves.

Spoiler

This does have an alpha which allows her skin colour to shine through and match the face colour.

None of this helps you though because I don't know what the exact RGB value of her skin tone is and even if I did, there is no way to apply it to your character (even with the save editor) and even if you could get the exact value applied to your character, there would be no guarantee that it would look exactly the same when applied to whatever face texture your character is using.

The only thing I could suggest is try altering the colour of one of the CC face textures until you get a result you like. The problem then is that your head won't match your body. Unless you alter that as well and then no one's else's head would match their bodies.

Why must it be exactly the same as Cassandra's?

. It dosent I want it to looks like her skin color, if it's able to create a skin color that looks like Cass's one, on that will look simallair to her skin tone.

Yes I am,.. this sucks, I never had any problems before :(

I am addicted to modding DA:I, what am I gonna do now? :P lol

Did you by any chance shrunk or increased the size of your eyebrows? Because when changing the size of an image it could create pixelation sometimes

  • I don't know much about this but could it be a memory problem? Have you tried restarting your PC and trying again?

I'm... I'm sorry i... i... have... to...

I saw it too, it is super weird, but I did a try, and I am not entirely sure the normal map is doing alot, I didn't see alot of mess around my eyebrows.

I am doing another test now, I will take a look, and if it doesnt look horrible I might even share a picture lol.

Remember when you save normals you lose a lot of info, you have to use Ottemis trick of saturating blue channel

Is probably the saving normals bug

Normals can't be saved on DXT1 or DXT5 and Eham's import will only take that. You need to do some tricks to make it work, look at tutorial on dai forum

  • Have you tried re-extracting the texture using DAI_Tools? (Didn't you dump all the textures waaaay back in the beginning with Eham's command line tool?)
  • I don't know much about this but could it be a memory problem? Have you tried restarting your PC and trying again?

The textures looks like they should before I save it. but they are only 1024 px, are yours 2048?

I have 8gb ram, but I can always try.

No it is the same as the original I have, they aren't pixelated before I save as a .dds

Yes, I read the guide, it was great, but in this case I am not touching the normals.

You're gonna keep on keepin on.. just like I'm trying to do. I finally have PS, but I can't seem to do anything in it. It's like my mind blanked out and I sit there staring going wtf. I finally found the brushes tab... loaded up some florals to try the vallaslin, but when I go to make a brush on the layer, nothing freaking shows. Derp. WTF? I have no idea.

They're the same size.

I know the turning the computer on and off thing is stupid but sometimes it works and it only takes a minute.

Inquisitor with Cass's skin tone mod: ScreenshotWin32_0134_Final.png

And Cass: ScreenshotWin32_0133_Final.png

I would be glad if somone will make a 100% copy of Cass's tone. :) We can clearly see that Cass tone on quizzy looks much more Darker, again I will be glad if somone make Cass's tone 100%copy if its possible and  not a problem to the person who do it.   Or Varric's sin tone, that would be perfect too :D

That mod is a 100% copy of Cassandra's skin tone. Its going to look different on different characters, because skin tone is not the only thing that contributes to the color.

Not exactly, a lot of the information does come from the diffuse, but also cassandra does have a unique skin tone file, which is what I gave to him already, of course as I stated just above, its going to look different on different characters due to other information being different. Also there are some SSS parameters being fed into the shader that will change the way the skin reacts to light for different characters.

I stand corrected. Again.

Hmmm, the pixelation seems to happen where the masks in the channels overlap eachother.

No, I have been focusing more of my attention on getting the DAI Tools import functionality going, the reasons for this is, this will have an adverse affect on the Mod Manager as well, and may actually resolve all those issues. I have learnt a lot about what not to do when creating patches from writing the DAI Modding Tool, so now I want to get it right this time, which also means I will be taking my time to.

Thank you, I tried to save as a 888 RGB just to try, and it worked, so I am thinking I am having compression issues?

Does PS work better for modding than GIMP? I use GIMP, and I was wondering if that could be the reason for some of the trouble I've been having.

@Shantia: DXT compression can cause artifacts, it's done my head in plenty times on masks (ME3 modding) in the past, don't know if that's your issue. You could try re-opening your edited DDS and inspecting if you can spot the issues, in theory you should be able to. Most the issues i've seen came from situations where you have intensity fading aka black to white gradients on masks where it would create artifacts on saving that could seriously mess things up in the gradient itself.

@denise12184: I can't judge whether Photoshop works better than GIMP as I only use PS, I always got the impression PS is a bit less convoluted when it comes to viewing/editing channels/alphas separately but again, I'm used to PS myself so no clue really.

Well it looks blocky, and I can see it happens where they overlap eachother, unfortunatley I am not an experienced texturer, so I am not sure what can be done about it.

this is what it looks like, only one channel though, but it is visible that where they arent overlapping it is clear.

Yeah that looks like compression issues to me. Honestly I don't think there's any better advise than to clean it up and trying to avoid midtones and gradients as much as you can. Mess with it till you get lucky, so to speak.

Thanks for the advice, problem is that it happens when I try to save an unedited as well, that will be alot of cleaning up to do.
