You need the app for creative cloud first, then you can get the free trial or subscribe.

Yes, and your subscription is good for two computers. My mother in law was kind enough to take PS off of her laptop so that I could have it on my comp here :D

Are you just trying to edit a spec file?  It's lighter = more shiny and darker = more dull.  The easiest way to edit sections would be to copy the original layer and paste a new one.  Hide the original so, you can go back to it later.  Do Image -> Adjustments -> Hue/Sat then use lightness to go lighter or darker.  You can just quickly erase the sections you don't want changed.  The alternative to that is you can select the areas you want to change individually.

Sure.

Generally when you open a tint file you'll see one of two things.  If the file is entirely black that equates in game to that particular item not being tintable.  If you see red, blue and green areas.  Each of these areas equates to an area on the item that can be tinted.  If you're having trouble seeing what correlates to what grab a copy of the tint and paste it on top of the diff then change the opacity to about 40.  Then you'll be able to see which sections will change what.  You'll want to make sure you use the eye dropper tool to get the exact red, blue or green that they're using if you're going to change a section.

Does anyone know what would cause this banding in my shadows?  I'm using Mantle instead of DirectX.  I'm running everything on Ultra or Fade Touched (Mantle only I believe).  I thought it might be my SweetFX settings but I disabled them all and I'm still getting it.  It seemed to only be this noticeable once I edited the normal and spec to make the faux body piercings stand out more.

That looks great!  If you want to just not have a tint just make the _t solid black and save it like that.

I notice this occasionally in game, mostly in the chantry in Redcliffe on Dorian's neck during the first cutscene with him. I had no clue what it was.

Something like this should work fine for your spec.  If you do it solid black the faux skin areas won't look the same as your face.

If the original buttons are showing through you need to go into the normal (_n) and remove them.
