Great work, guys.
How do I get the Restool? The download I got from the OP has the CASTool and various explorers for different formats, but not res.

@Shapeshifter777 - Over at:
http://daitools.free....org/index.php, look under news/updates for newest version. I'd suggest getting svn tortoise to keep the files up to date. Otherwise that's really the only easy way to download newer versions.
If you can't figure that out, you can download a snapshot here:
http://sourceforge.n...Tool/bin/Debug/
@Adela - Shouldn't be hard, all he'd have to do is flip his code around from converting itex to dds, to dds to itex. Just a reverse process of what he's already done. I can take a look at the code, but I can't promise anything lol.
Any idea what software he used to create the exe's?
@Renmiri - Thanks to your Solas obsession my screen shot ended up on the front page of here:

I'm trying to remain unpopular darn you, don't need it to spread @_@ (I jest)

@Adela - Thanks for the info. The video just shows how to make a bat file and then convert it into an exe. That's cool stuff. I'm aware of how to make a bat.
I actually tried to uncompress the exe with 7zip, and extracted some files from it. Though they are encrypted, which is why I asked what he used lol.
If he just made a bat file, it wouldn't be very hard to edit as long as its not to complex.
I actually used to make ROM's for android, when I was bored ;p
Check this out:
Eham made this to explain TOC's.
Also WV made yet another revision to the DA tool, has graphs now lol.

This is awesome guys! I've been keeping track of the progress on Nexus, but saw the group here. Thanks to everyone for figuring it out, and Voider for making the toolset.
I'd download it for myself, play with some texture changes, and extract mesh, but my eyes cross when looking at code. How do you know what everything is?
Also wonder if it would be possible some day to replace the female body mesh with the male one, kind of like what mods did for DAO? LOL. I know it may be possible to switch gender with CE, but again, code...

If your using da tools, I think you can only extract textures with it. If you want to extract meshes, you'll have to use Ehamloptiran's tools.
You can find that here at the bottom of the post:

Thank you, Silvist. :]
Unfortunately "Windows SmartScreen prevented an unrecognized app from running" on my computer when I double click the DA_Tool application. Is there a way around this?
EDIT: Nevermind. Fixed it.
Where are the .cat files located? ![]()
EDIT: lol nevermind about that too. I think loading the .cas file works.

Awesome!! altho im a bit worried about the last part he said... specially with rigged meshes... i needs my hair in game
and ur armors

@Shapeshifter - No problem!
@Adela - Don't give up hope, we are nearly there! I needs you hairs in game, and you need my armor! lol
Plus you could always replace the hideous 4 bald styles to start with. Once we get past replacement, we can start adding more.
The trick I have to figure out is how I'm going to piece out the armor. I may have to rip off the arms, and combined it with the gauntlets in order to match it up right. Same with the legs, I may have to cut the torso in half, and attach the legs to the feet...meh that's like a step backwards to Oblvion/Morrowind days.

Wow, it's all looking amazing so far! I was under the assumption that modding DAI wouldn't be possible but I'm glad I was wrong.
I've done some basic creating for the sims but nothing for the dragon age games aside from basic ports.
If I have a wishlist it would probably be down to 3 things: Armour that looks similar on both males and females (as in practical non-sexy armour), Armour that's already in the game for NPCs but unavailable for everyone else (like the mage robes!) or armour from the previous games...
And lastly hair (of any styles really) for all races that is textured similarly to the in-game hair so that it fits with the environment well. I prefer practical styles but even prettier ones are useful for some instances and characters.
Great work thus far!

There is an "easier" way to do that .. first off convert the mesh from triangles into quads by using the graphite modeling tools, it would be easier to select things and detach from the mesh...
then detach (not delete) the parts that give you trouble and instead of deleting them try to scale them down.. that should help you out AND shape your current mesh with the old one

So, can we swap out textures just using the res tool by changing the values in the editable text box at the bottom of the screen? If so, does it automatically save?

there is no exporter for textures into the game just yet that tool is only so you to do ur work beforehand to extract all the files in the game and manipulate them however you want
for example the model i use to make my hair on had calpernia's head morrigan's skin and the inq body

Is there any way to modify the save files with the DAS tool? It will let me change values in there, but not sure if we can save it.

from what i heard you can only "read" the DAS files but not modify them just yet Voider and Ehamloptiran are working on that

Actually with the current res tool in DA tool you can export the textures. You just have to find the line of the texture you want, then hit the options to export all (it only exports what you select, not everything lol).
@Adela - Wow! I didn't even realize that was the model you were using! I'm still unsure who the heck Calpurnia is. Is that the cousin of the Queen? Maybe I somehow skipped her (if I did don't spoil it lol). I've only done one rushed play through lol.
Hmm, what you described above for triangles sounds interesting. What I've done in the past to make skin tight armors was by taking the body and cutting polygons. The trick is to find a nice neat line that you can make with the poly's lol.
Are these graphite tools, and such in 3ds max? Or do I need another program?
