Well, I am stuck. DAI_Tools.vshost won't launch. I launched it once to look at it and closed it, now I can't open in again. I tried restarting, getting the SDK tools and restarting but it still won't launch.

Yeah, I can't play unless I patch. I really hate that.
Porcelyn, if you want to avoid patching, just go into Origin, Click on Origin>Application Settings>General and scroll down to Updates. Untick "Automatically keep my games up to date," then go back to your My Games page/tab. From there, click on Origin again, and choose "Go Offline." You should then be able to start the game without the pending patch.
To be able to start a NEW game and import your Keep states, once you've started the game, Alt-Tab to Origin and go back online. It won't try to patch while the game is active, and you can import your Keep State.
Unfortunately, you have to "Go Offline" every time you restart Origin to play thereafter, until you're ready to patch. I did this for 3 days after Patch 3 came out, wanting to make sure it didn't bork anything before I let it go through.
Oh, and here's my latest elf using Shantia's brows and various other mods.
Here's Fáelán.

Thanks considering I can't model or texture to save my life, I wanted to do something to help out everyone besides create tools, so fixing bugs is something I can do
Oh and it gives me a great excuse to actually play the game or just run around mindleslly, looking for bugs.
Eham, thank you for your time.
I totally missed that update. I've passed the word to the community pc community concern thread.

PS: Eham if I delete the cloth file for Solas shirt, do you think I'll get rid of those 2 floating bits of shirt that he has ? Just painting them as jeans will not work because they float with the wind -.-
No, the cloth assets are defined in the mesh as well, they just have a different format to standard meshes which is why we cannot extract them at the moment.

Sorry for derailing the thread, but I've a few questions. Where can I look up the version my game is currently patched to (looked up game properties via Origin and game directory folder)? Patch folder in directory says last change happened last year, so I should be fine? Because I want to pass over the newest patch and still install mods without breaking my game. Should that be possible? Thanks in advance.

Inside the Patch folder is a package.mft, open that in notepad and it will tell you the "Version". Latest version as of today is 5. And it has no issues with mods.

I'm not sure if this is what you mean, but you can see what version the patch is by opening the mtf with notepad.

Yup, opening installerdata.xml in C:\Program Files (x86)\Origin Games\Dragon Age Inquisition\__Installer says I have 1.0.0.3 installed, which is fine by me because I want to keep the dupe glitch.
What I was wondering about is whether or not I can still install mods to that old version of the game, even if said mods are up to date? Or is the patch mandatory for any mods that are updated to the current version of the game? (Thanks for replying so quickly!)

Currently you can apply mods not intended for your patch version, this is fine for now since we only work on the base files, but going forward this will be stopped. Since I have some changes in the works to load patch and DLC data as part of the initial data loading, and will then introduce required patch level to mods, so at that point you would not be able to use mods that were created with a later patch.

I'm trying to merge all my mods again with the update and I'm getting this error:
Task failed. Error reported was: Object reference not set to an instance of an object.
What does this mean? I'm sure I've done something, I just can't figure out what.

No idea, merging works fine for the new patch, at least it does for me. But just to let you know, there will be a new version of the Mod Manager sometime today or early tomorrow (for me) anyways, that will hopefully introduce better stability and a couple of other features.

Good to know!
I think I just did something stupid and copied over or put something where it wasn't supposed to go. I reverted to a vanilla state and went from there and everything seems to be okay now.

Well n/m re making helmets visible in cutscenes I answered my own question. I'm dumb, and it's controlled by the same flag in cheatengine that forces armor on. You just need to turn off hide helm & reload/re-equip.
Anywho.

If I'm not mistaken, she looks an awful lot like a certain member of Special Tactics and Reconnaissance, too.

Just hopping in here to toss out a thank you to all the lovely modders. I finally got over the nerves about modding DA:I and jumped in. No more Skyhold PJs or weird sideburns for me! Y'all are awesome. That is all.

Now just holding out hope for someone who can expunge Solas's dumb hat.

I am hoping that will come soon, I am just doing some important improvements to the whole patching process that will also allow for greater flexibility, so after this I can start testing mesh importing again, with a lot more ease than before.

this makes me very excited to hear, will these improvements also fix the problem for those of us that couldn't use the mod manager before?

Good morning, all, and forgive me for what may be a stupid question. I was just wondering, for those of you that have updated with the latest patch from yesterday and have been in game, has anyone noticed a drop in fps and some hitching? I updated and remerged, but I was having a slight issue after the first patch last week, as well as last night. I turned off my AVG, thinking maybe it was memory, although I've yet to have that kind of issue before. I do have several mods merged, mostly just the face and PJ textures, the eyes, and I believe the Halimshiral finery retexture. Could it be an overload of modded textures?
I have even tried turning my gpu settings down to 'balanced' rather than 'quality' save for the mesh setting that I have on Ultra. I had no issues before the patch last week, but I was also using fewer texture mods.

I haven't updated yet, actually i can't find the patch notes, anyone? It's not in the patch thread.... SWW, you know about the perfoverlay.drawfps command right? Maybe check that with mods enabled and disabled? If you have low video memory (like me QQ) it's quite possible that textures affect performance alot

I wouldn't think it'd have a huge effect as we mod at native texture res.
Maybe the fps fluctuations from running things like fraps (or other overlays) have worsened? Just an idea

it's a new vid card, amd radeon r9 270x , 2gb. I pulled the merged file out of the update folder to check. I was at the villa in the emerald graves when I started noticing the hitching, was during the fight with the leader of the freemen. Once I took the merged folder out it seemed to pick up a bit, but it was still draggin in places, so I wasn't sure if it was the patch or the mods, or the combination of both. Last week I was running on quality settings with no issues at all.

I don't run Fraps, and I disabled the Origin overlay quite a while ago. I would not have thought it was the textures either, seeing as it's just replacing the native textures, at the same file size even, correct? So it's not like I'm bogging down my machine with extras.
I will run Malwarebytes and AVG this morning and see if I get any hits, even though I doubt that is the issue either, but never hurts to troubleshoot everything.

Oh i'm sure everyone has modded with the same res, i was more thinking in the lines of compression, but ya just a blind guess
