Are these graphite tools, and such in 3ds max?  Or do I need another program?

Yes they are in max its the 1st tab before the one u use to "resize" ur meshes with

@Adela - Yes, I ment you can extract from the original game files, and export it as a dds.  Maybe I misunderstood, my apologies.

 

I'm going to take a look at this tool you are referring to right now ;p

@Adela - Ah the "quadrify all".  I actually don't use the drop downs as much as I should.  I tend to use the tools to the right side or right click options.  There's alot of ways to do the same thing in 3ds max, sometimes its overwhelming lol.

some tools work better then others for example  qualify mesh  in the modify tab doesn't work as well as qualify all in the graphite modeling tools bar

 

qualify mesh only works well if you have flat  meshes and then use those with the cloth /garment modifier

Yea, Warrantyvoider is working on a gui.  That's the DA tools.  He's integrating Eham's code so it can be used without commandline.  It'll be alot more efficient for extracting, due to the fact you can select single files.  Where as with Eham's I had to dump entire toc's, and in the end the entire game.  With WV tools you can just select a single texture, and in the future you'll be able to do that with meshes as well.  So ya, stay tuned it should be out eventually.

Ok, maybe I'll wait until Voider has a gui. I can open his DA_Tools, but can't get Eham's tools to open. I assume I'm missing something, a step or necessary program.

@Metalmaster - You gotta run Eham's tool in commandline aka cmd.  You gotta open the directory with the tools in commandline.  In the files with his tools there's a text of instructions.  I just copied the code in his text and changed it to fit my directory layout.

 

The gui is out, if you are having trouble with Eham's tool, just use the DA Tools.  The trick is updating the tools, which I had to install svn tortoise for.  There's a walk through on the forums that WV did, but I forgot where it was ; ;

also just to add to this if you dont know how to open the cmnd hold shift and right click on the folder you have your DA tools in and then open in command also make sure the dll file is in that folder

 

 

edit nvm the gui is out should be less of a hassle now :P

@Adela - well, i'd enjoy playing around with anything, but if I had to choose one thing it would be swapping my character's model.  Shapeshifting isn't in the game, but it's the closest I could get.

ah i see,  well for now  u just need to download the new da tools with a gui and do some swapping until voider or Ehm  come up with the exporter for in game assets :)

I'm not a modder myself, but a HUGE fan (guys like you seriously made me play Skyrim for 300+ hours).

 

If I could make a suggestion though, I will give ANYTHING you want for long hair on a Qunari female... even just shoulder length, or a ponytail :)

The process of testing that I am planning is as follows:

- Injecting new texture data (Not modyfing itexture resource) [Complete]
- Injecting new texture data and itexture resource, ie. Change a texture from DXT1 to DXT5 (w/Alpha) [In Progress]
- Injecting new model data (Not changing mesh resource or counts, just positions of vertices)
- Injecting new model data and mesh resource (Completely replace a mesh with a new one)
- Injecting new skinned mesh as per above process
- Injecting new script
- Injecting new EBX data

 

He's done the first two on the list so far.  Him and WV have done about 6 revisions today with the tool so, lol keep your fingers crossed.

I swore I've converted xml to another file type to then fbx before...just can't remember.  To much alcohol in my earlier years..bah that's what I get.

yes im currently trying to work on some qunari hair, for me its a bit of a  "challenge" cause of the horns but i have a few that might look good
