With the new tools, does every mod need to be repatched, or will making a new merged patch work?

Is anyone willing to help me out? Here are my files : http://www.mediafire...ublcd/Dwarf.zip

Could someone make them into a mod and send it back to me? Every time I try the texture ends up blurred.

Yes, i downloaded the newest version and rebuilt the cache. Denise made me the mod but when I open it in Mod manager it says (This mod is incompatible with your patch)

My Official patch says version 5, while the mod says it needs version 7. I repaired my game but it's still version 5.

Well if u used the latest version, you should not have gotten blurry textures, when compared to vanilla, if ur comparing to the results u saw in a distributable patch, then don't, they were incorrect.

As for the mod version, can't explain that, 7 doesn't exist, so I suspect Denise's setup is wrong.

I remade the mod and started a new game. Texture is working. I went back to my save and the textures is blurry. I'm not sure why that happened. Thanks for helping me trouble shoot.

Setup? Is there something special I'm supposed to be doing?

Check your patches package.mft and see what version it says in there, it should be 5. Thats the only place that is checked for patch level, so for yours to say 7 in mods, your package.mft must say 7 for whatever reason

It does for some odd reason. I'm not sure what I did. All I did download the tool and run the initial scan. I'm not sure why it's doing that.

Maybe once upon a time you overwrote your patch by accident? I would suggest rather than manually changing the package.mft, just in case there is more secretly wrong. I would backup ur patch directory and do a repair and see what happens. If for some reason it still comes back as 7. I would be interested in the patch files as maybe you have a different patch, which would throw a spanner in the works when it comes to dependent versions.

When you say run a repair, do you mean through origin? I have patch five saved, and I just copy over with it every time I update mods.

What do you mean? Your not overwriting your official patch with the merged folder are you? If so, don't, this is where the issue is coming from, the Merged folder should sit a long side the Patch folder (it has a +1 version to override ingame).

Um...yeah. I thought that's how it was done. Is this just with the latest tools or has it always been like that?

In any case, the merged folder goes in the game files with the official patch?

It always been in a separate folder in the Update folder, so it should have the following layout:

<DAI Installation Dir>\Update\Patch

<DAI Installation Dir>\Update\Merged (Or whatever you want to call it)

<DAI Installation Dir>\Update\Other DLC's

This is to ensure you don't have to overwrite any official content at all, we let the game do the overriding by increasing the patch version.

But in your case because you overwrote the patch, it set the patch version to 6 initially, then you've ran the mod manager and overrriden it again with one that has 7, so when launching the modding tools, it now things ur official patch version is 7.

So as you said above, you have your original patch files, remove the one from Update, replace with your backup, delete your cache files for the modding tool and let it regenerate, and in the mod manager, force a rescan of the patch, then when saving make sure to choose a new directory in Update (in fact in the latest versions, it won't let you save over ur patch).

Is it safe to mix old mods with ones I've remade with the new tools? I'm rebuilding all the ones I've made, but I have several made by other people that are still distributable patches.

Yes, but distributables have a number of caveats:

 - All textures are loaded in at their highest mip, as there is not enough info available to reconstruct them correctly. So if you have a low GPU card, you may run into issues if you have heaps

 - If they modify links in EBX files that have been patched, you may end up crashing because they edit pre-patch data, instead of post-patch.

 - The "Remove Weapons Restrictions" mod does not work at all with the new mod manager.

The EBX files, would that be like the vitaar that have different colors?

Another question, if I leave the mods still in patch form out, am I still going to have issues with saved games that used those mods?

Not all EBX have issues, only ones that have been patched - So don't worry about it really, if you try to play ur game and u get an endless load, just cut back ur list until it stops, then report the mod you find that doesn't work, I'll investigate and see, and if need be I will contact the modder to upgrade.

As for issues with savegames, generally no, it would only be in really rare cases, and more in the case if we were adding things, basically the modding tools are not in a state that would allow for savegame corruption yet. But removing all mods will still cause the save game to not be usable. Unless u create the dummy mod (duplicate of the patch with an increased version number).

Just want to be sure I have everything right. I reverted to the backup of the official patch, redid the scan, and set up mod manager again. My merged folder is in the update folder. I rebuilt the vitaar mod i made, so now it is in the mod format. The mtf in the merged folder says version 6. is this correct, or did I mess up again?

Thats correct, the merged version will always be +1 of the official patch version, so at this current time it is 6

When you encounter problems ladyofpayne, you need to be way more specific and provide us with as much detail as you can, as I am unable to say what the issue might be based off what u wrote, please explain what the issue actually is, and what you are trying to do.

I have this problem for MAx 2008 and 2011
