I can't get the sides to match up, any ideas? Maybe I am just being picky because you can't notice it with the normal game camera but I kind of feel it looks sloppy.

Export the mesh, make a UV template, overlay the UV template, that way u can see exactly where the seams are. as theres usually a bit of an overlap when it comes to the texture and seams.

What program would I need to do that?

What program would I need to do that?
Sculptris is free and relatively easy to use but very limited.
Daz3d is free and somewhat easy, also limited
Blender is free and powerful but has a learning curve
3ds can be free for students and is the best

If you either know someone who is a student or have a student email regardless if you still attend; you can get 3ds max for free. It just sends an email to confirm the email is real, and it sends you the activation codes once you download the program. I've been using it for years without any issues.
Keep in mind of you change computers you have to get an entirely new key for the program.

if all that is required is to get a UV map rendered out of the object, the blender is the best choice. Its free, no need to go thru hurdles, exports and imports to standard formats.

Yea, I realize that's true. Though, I never found blender very user friendly. I attempted to use it several times due to scripts that were made only for it. I'm not really a fan of the UI interface either (yes, I could have probably found a custom one).
The reason I recommended 3ds max, is alot of us here know it. That includes myself, Adela, you seem to be quite familiar with it Eham, and Kiitosu. I'm sure this won't be the last person asking for help with UV maps. Especially once we can import more things into the game ;p

I use 3DS as well, but I know people tend to gravitate towards the 'no fuss' free tools, which is fine, I just can't help with them is all. No experience with them personally.
As to the pattern over that seam, i'd say the easiest solution would be to stick a black element along the seam or introduce a new patch of cloth in the sides that has a texture where you wouldn't notice the seam as much. Depending on wrap stretching it can be a real pita to line that kind of stuff up perfectly. Can already see you've got some stretching in the back area there where you'd need to contort the pattern opposed to just moving it to line up with the chest bit. Because it's such a large seam and the pattern extends alongside it entirely, you've not made it easy on yourself.
Not saying you shouldn't try, just don't beat yourself up for too long. Lining that up is no picknick.

Just like to add to the texture seam discussion, there are programs you can get that allow you to paint onto 3D models making it easier to match up seams. 3DCoat and Zbrush are the main ones that I know of, 3DCoat is easier to use and cheaper but doesn't have as many features as Zbrush. I also believe the latest versions of photoshop supports painting on 3D models but I'm not sure how easy it is or what the results are like.

That would be optimal. Something I've always wanted to get into but never had the time to research.

Daz3d shows uv maps but doesn't let you edit them without a plugin

@Renmiri - Hmm, now that is very interesting. I'm quite an avid Daz3d user, I use it for rendering quite often (till I found octane render lol). Where does it show the UV maps?
The only UV setting I see is under the Editor > UVsetting of the texture. It only lists default UVs. I'm currently using 4.7, cause its free. Though, I use to have the professional version of the older Daz3d.
Also which body style are you using? I tend to use Victoria / Michael 4 (playing around with 6 now). Hmm, looks like for Victoria 6 you can swap between V4, 5, and 6 UV's...very interesting.
You mention a plug in, do you happen to know which plugin that is? There's like a billion daz plugins rofl.

@Renmiri - Michael worked fine for Silvist
Spoiler
Wow.. indeed!
My beef with michael4 is it looks a bit "squatted" if you look at the full body. Is a human body and elves are slim and have a longer body. Solas has both the longer / slimmer body of elves and the strong human shoulders

Oh no, that's terrible! I've been looking forward to seeing your modded hairstyles, I hope that won't affect them.

@Renmiri - Lol, first of all as you can see with the beautiful mods released here; textures can do a world of wonder. You should be able to adjust everything you listed. You can even unlock the sliders to go beyond the limits if they don't please you. The issue with that can be the texture. Such as it will stretch oddly if you make the mesh to deformed. There's alot of addons you can get for even more morph forms. Alot of the detailed characters require these kind of plugins.
Like Victoria 4 alone has at least 3-4 plugins to get the correct body shape. Its even worse when it comes to shaping armor. Thankfully I've learned some tricks to fix issues with this, which is applying a modifier that gets the armor to shape better. It doesn't always work perfectly, and it'll increase loading times anytime you change the pose by alot.
I haven't gotten Silvist the way I used to have him. Like Adela, I had to reformat, and lost all my good stuff (so many custom textures lost). This is why you should always back up lol.
Also, which Michael are you using? I think the newest is version 6. I'm still using version 4 of Michael and Victoria; because they are the most universal for both poser and daz3d. There was some morph addons for Michael 4, that can really change the shape. Honestly, you should be able to make Michael look how ever you want.
There's also the new Genesis 2 male. I haven't toyed with him yet, but the female looks a bit odd to me still.
If you ever want to drool over some good daz/poser stuff, check out Renderosity. There has been quite a bit of inspiration for alot of mods out there by some of the models there.

Does anyone have the DAI modding tool version 1.15? If so can some one link me to it pls?
EDIT:
Ok so I re-installed Windows 7 (in English) installed DAI (in English) , installed VS 2013, .NET Framework version 4.5 and Slim SDK
The DAI Modding tool opens fine but when i go into da3>actors>baseheads>hair and click on one of the hairs to view assets and then when the window pops up the preview button is disabled as well as the import and export button. I downloaded version 1.26 of the DAI Modding Tool
EDIT2
NVM I figured it out, back to work i go
