It is probably on my end! Had a few troubles now afterwards

It seems I cant continue on to Skyhold because everytime the screen turns white and wont load. My character is still active and I can shoot around with my staff, haha! Seems like the mods are bugging out, read up on it, oh well! Shame!

Sorry for the inconvenience .... im just not sure why it wont load the saved games when using it... looks like u just might have to start a new pt

@Pumpkinpatch - Did you only try that one save, or different saves?  Did you try a new character?  This is why is highly important "not" to use the save game you resume from for playing.

 

When I test a mod, I always go into my current saved game, and create a new save (basically a duplicate).  That way if anything goes south, I can remove whatever changes I made to the game and resume from the save that wasn't touched.  It also helps if you back up your saved games folder.  That way you can just delete the new ones that aren't working, and copy over your backup.

 

Once you save a game with mod dependencies, we have no way to remove those.  

 

Also when you created a new patch/merge, did you override or delete the old patch/merge?  If you have multiple patch/merge, it can cause alot of bugs.

 

Its very hard for mods to break the game, unless the mod you are using somehow corrupted an existing vanilla file.  Which, I can't see happening from texture or mesh replacements.  The trick is finding out what the real source of the issue is.

 

I've modded plenty of other games to the point of them crashing at launch no matter what I did.  Only to find out I forgot to remove one modified file.

 

Honestly, this modding tool is still being developed.  I don't consider any mod right now to be out of beta, and thus I treat them so.

Perhaps saying I "broke" the game is not really true, it just seemed somewhere a long the line the mods seemed to stop the progressions. I tried removing one mod at the time to find out what caused it! If it was conflicting mods or so. it just kept not wishing to transport one to Skyhold so I just decided to remove everything and start over.

 

I also noticed how tiresome it can be hearing "The dawn will come" several times in a row  :lol:

 

I googled around and there were others with the same problem. I could not fix it, even with a fix that is mentioned on page 3.

I am not too bothered with loosing my progress. I restarted with no mods repaired my game and now I can go through to skyhold! (just not with the character I was playing, as it says the game needs to be updated?) And when I go through mods again I will do the 'extra save'. 

 

Edit: Perhaps it was not the mods at all and just a weird bug! I am unsure!

Could just be run-of-the-mill save corruption. Could have happened at any point without your knowledge, if you keep building on top of it the problem wouldn't go away rather than escalate. These things happen regardless of modding and don't always surface directly.

 

I remember it happening to one of my saves for DA:O at some point where I noticed a tiny tiny glitch at first but got around it so thought nothing of it, then hours and hours later problems kept escalating with me not wanting to restart through the progression I'd lose ultimately ending in a scenario where I was perpetually loading in outside of normal path-finding after a cutscene trigger, unable to finish the game =P

Is there any chances, to obtain Hawke's Mage/Warrior/Rogue armor? Mod, console commands, cheat table. etc. Or has anyone found at all the armor in the game files?

Luckliy I use very minor mods like Rougher Cassandra, and Elven Skyhold Pjama 

 

How'd you get Rougher Cassandra to work with the mod manager?! I've been waiting for vyrelis to update the mod to .daimod format but it's not happening. I wanted to try to do it myself with the modding tools but they crash every time. Do you think you could upload and link it? I'd be so damn happy :D

@Ottemis - Exactly.  If at anytime in the playthrough a mod is used, all saved games from that point on gain the dependency of that mod.  If you remove that mod, odd things can happen to a save.  Which is why you don't want to test any mods on a save file you use; unless you know for 100% certain its a mod you like and that there is no issues.

 

In the case of DAI it would be a custom patch/merge file, more specifically than a mod.

 

Typically in alot of Elder scroll games, it is highly recommended to "never" remove mods until you are finished with your current play through.  Otherwise, all sorts of crazy things can happen.  You can always "add" mods, but removing a mod is a very touchy thing, especially for the save files.

 

@Pumpkinpatch - When I said "break the game"..I wasn't referring to your comment.  I was referring to my own experience.  When the first version of the daitools was released, I replaced my entire update folder with the modded patch folder.  The game actually still ran, but started to bug out like crazy.

 

I'm also a modder myself, so many many times have I purposely tested what a game engine can and cannot handle.  You'd be surprised how enduring these engines can be lol.

Sorry to bust in and change the subject - the hair mod looks great so far, by the way, well done - but I was wondering if anyone had any experience changing the companion/adviser tarot cards?

 

I'm trying to swap Cullen's tarot card out for a piece of fanart, but so far the only thing I've managed to do is turn the whole card transparent. I'm saving the file pretty much the same as the original as far as I can tell - DXT5 format, no mipmaps, the exact same dimensions and alpha layer - but whenever I merge the mod and get it ingame Cullen's card isn't present at the wartable.

 

Here's all the files I've been working from to make this, if it helps. I just want to give Cullen a new tarot card now that I'm romancing him... :(

There's a modder who did the Hawke scar and face for CC and he was looking into it

Yes lol. I have that mod and when I came across Cailan again I wanted to throw a blanket over him while I went about my business lol. I ended up trying to mod him into one of Roguelass' armors (DA2 Sebastian armor). Which worked once, and then never worked again. Still haven't gone in to figure that out.

I got the dlc weapons and armor for the pc today, and now my modding tool won't work. I'm sure I'm doing something wrong here, but I have no idea how to fix it. I even had Origin run a repair and tried a new scan. It gets to where it's almost finish and then gives me a message saying it stopped working. Is there something I'm missing that's needed for the dlc?

Yah, the prisoner from Ostagar was jarring...but I also came across Cailan...umm, oh Maker forgive me, but I laughed so hard because even IF my character could have tried to cover him with a blanket, i fear he would have been unintentionally turned into a "coat rack"... I'll have to check that out! :P

 

denise, you might need to force a rescan of your patch, since you have additions. There should be a toggle on the mod manager. Forgive me if you said you did that already and I missed it somehow...

Pumpkin, that bug is caused by mods replacing eye textures. If you are using the HD Eye Textures mod, download and install the "Tweaked" file under the Updates section. That file is fixed and doesn't cause that bug  :)

Sorry to just post this here... I took a break vom DA:I till some mods are out... now that there are, I can't really find (for example) Adelas Hair mods on Nexus. Can Someone help and enlighten me, where to find all your awesome hard work? :(

Right now, Adela has a "test" hair out, it's pretty nice and you can get it a few pages back. :) It replaces one hair for human female.
