A few of us are trying to use 0.48 mod manager (that's the most recent release) to work with the newest patch, but have been coming up short. I have a very long scan/merge going right now in fact, one where I changed up the numbers in the .ini for the mod manager, but I don't have much faith it'll work. Only other thing we can do is revert to patch 5 and play offline, maybe revert to vanilla for the dlc only, and wait patiently (or join us in trying different stuff lol!).

Regarding BW purposefully patching out mods

And, from another BW employee in the same thread:

"Sorry you feel that way, but we are in no way actively trying to "patch out" modding. When making a patch we focus on our systems, and making sure whatever changes we have made don't break the game. We are not thinking of the consequences our changes will make to a mod.

To echo BioAdmiralX, it has always been stated that Modding is 100% not supported. If you make a mod for the game, and it does not work after a dlc/patch, it is up to that creator to update/patch their mod.
Mods are awesome, and good on everyone for making them, but we are not going to change our testing or patching because of them."

Certainly, it would seem far-fetched beyond reason to accuse BW of deliberately ruining modding - but to not support mods at all puts all the players who enjoy mods in a very vulnerable position. All the modding for DAI so far has been based entirely on the work of what, 3-5 people? Eham and WV here and at modding tools, olegbl and twoflower over at cheat engine, and maybe a few more, few of whom seem active any longer. Without people with that kind of know-how involved, unsupported modding will remain vulnerable until the day patching stops altogether. And as has already been stated above, all the people creating mods are building on shifting sand.

Yeah, as expected, changing the values did not work. Gonna just revert to vanilla to play dlc...

Yeh, I'm thinking of trying to get someone at bioware throw us a bone, i.e. add a ""MODS" folder to their now mandatory patch folder, or something like it.

On Wow you can add "addons" to your game by putting on their mod folder and even in this very forum that Bioware uses (Invision Power Board I think) the modding is done the same way: add all mods to a mod folder.

That would help a little, as Mod Merger would no longer be needed, just the mod maker

It's the name of the game though, we knew what we were getting into. If we didn't and now feel sorely disappointed that's not on Bioware, but our responsibility to harbor realistic expectations modding a game that has no official mod support through not having an official toolset. Simple as.

Ren I doubt they will do something like that. We had a functional override folder of sorts before patch 5, they changed it for reasons unknown to us, but reasons all the same. They are extremely unlikely to try and find a workaround for a fix that restores our makeshift override solution just for modding as, as they've stated, it's simply not supported.

Thing is I think they are better off waiting this out for a bit as well as we've seen considerable change in the way the game works with it's Patch folder and it's necessitated a rework of the modding method since patch 5. We just had a workaround we no longer have anymore. Point being, they could come back and produce a fix now potentially wasting their time when next Patch hits and functionality is changed again. It's more time-efficient to at least wait out the BE release now to see if anything changes from this point on.

This stunts mod development and mod functionality for a while but there's really nothing we can do about that but wait for the moment, whether or not Eham would be on a break or WV would still be actively coding for the project. It changes little if you ask me.

What dicks me off though is the amount of pressure that was put on the little coders the project counts, yes, they are the ones with most if not all the answers but obviously it's not wise to put all pressure on the top shelf expecting the answers from them on so many subjects. It's why I hope, when Eham returns, we'll all try to unburden his load as much as we can within the modding collective so at least pressure won't build up again as fast and as hard.

I, for one, am amazed those two (Eham and Voider) figured out a workaround at all for FB3. The code is... well, a  mess in a lot of different ways. The fact it couldn't do mounts, extensive dialogue trees, and crowds when Bioware was first told to use it for DAI should tell you just how much freakin' work the devs put into trying to make it work for an RPG. The dragons alone (with the multi-articulated points of attack) are an achievement that gets ignored by 99% of the gaming population. I was expecting DAI to have errors, mistakes, crashes, etc, and was pleasantly surprised by how *relatively* few bugs it had compared to other games that were first-gen for their new engines.

Now, put Eham and Voider in there, tackling a customized engine that the devs themselves don't fully understand, and with very little help outside their own knowledge base and perhaps those select few who specialize in making game engines jump up and beg, and it's a miracle we have any mods at all, frankly. I'll bet a million donuts that the engine has been changed at least twice since the game was released, given the size of the updates vs what was actually changed (which is relatively minimal based on the patch notes). Plus, of course, Patch 6 wasn't JUST Patch 6, but also a preparation for the DLC. No WAY that list of patch notes was 800MB of new game file data.

Honestly, I don't mind when people are sad that their mods stopped working - I can totally understand the sentiment - but please don't complain about it to the very modders and little coders who figured it out in the first place. Give them the time they need, because they literally don't have anyone to refer to. There's no Google for them, and the devs probably wouldn't be able to help them out, and EA is known to actively discourage mods.

Give them a break. They've earned it. And when they're ready, they'll get back in the bullpen. Never send a tired horse into a race if you want to win.

So someone figured out a workaround to make the patches work after downloading Patch 6 (basically restore patch 5 and run mods). So let's be grateful for the little favors and thank our modders with hats held high.

I only gonna speak for my self on this part because I myself am guilty of annoying Eham with a million questions. But the only reason I was asking so many questions, was because 1. as its a new tool i wanted to know how it worked and 2 being in its alpha stages i had some issues with it at the beginning, and who else should I have asked except the person who created it? I know its  a lot of pressure  to put on just 1-2 ppl and I really hope that I didn't came off as rude when I did ask ,  but when I 1st saw the modding tool and what it can do, I got super excited and I wanted to know everything about it. In doing so, I believe I got too carried away, and didn't realize the pressure I was putting on him.

I don't think any of us here were deliberately trying to tick them off.. I think most of us just got too carried away/excited , and in some cases needed some help

In any case, if Eham and Voider decide to come back I will try to minimize my questions as much as possible, and probably just post bugs or stuff that is nor working

Nah it's all in retrospect and obviously there are questions only he can answer that have to be asked so don't feel bad for those, it's just that the number of times he's had to repeat himself around the boards.. you know what I mean right? Not just here as also on the daitoolset forums, just ridiculous. That's aside from Nexus and whatnot, it just got way waaay out of control.

Same thing now is something breaks and the first person people logically expect answers from is Eham, it's not strange, it's not wrong but it just won't do any good.

I totally can understand all of that Ottemis, and all of you are absolutely right. If I ever came across as being pushy, I truly didn't mean to, and I apologize profusely if that's how I sound. My brain is all over the place, as I spend every day in horrid pain and have to take meds that really screw with my head, lol.

I had 4 house mods for Skyrim on the Nexus hat I pretty much ended up having to ignore due to the same questions and pushy requests I was getting. So, the pressure for the makers of this modding tool etc...omg, I really respect the heck out of them, and I am in awe of what they have accomplished. I am completely willing to play a different patch and wait very patiently.

Pretty much, what I was doing was similar to what Adela was, as I have no experience with coding and such, and that was save someone work if I could find an easier route to make it work. I have nothing but love for all modders, and the team here. Without people like you all, I would lose my interest really fast with these games that I love so much. ANYTHING I can do to help you all out, I am willing to do it. I'll tell you Ottemis, if not for you, I would have played ME3 for maybe one playthrough. Thanks to your mods alone, I was hooked for well over three months and counting on it. :D

I wrote a novel here, sorry. I just wanted to show my respect and love for you all here, and to let you know I'll do whatever I can with my limited experience to take some pressure off of you all. <3

And I just want to say that my comments weren't directed at anyone specifically, it was just more a plea for understanding why the poor guys gotta take time off and be totally off the radar for a while. I re-read my post and decided it likely came off a bit too harsh - sorry about that!

Anyway, even God rested on the seventh day, and Kronos slept an Age. I'd say Eham's earned his rest as well.  ;)

I really regret my last comment. I guess I was just frustrated but it was no excuse to complain about about the guys who have been working so hard to make these tools available. I'm sorry.

Does anyone know if it's possible to mod away the spiders yet?

Yes and no

You can change their mesh and their color to make them look like something harmless (an orange blob in the screenie below) but when you highlight the spider the highlighted shape still looks like a transparent spider

I only gonna speak for my self on this part because I myself am guilty of annoying Eham with a million questions..

You get asked daily a million times for your hair mod.. All the modders are getting swamped with requests. So you get anxious too. Is just human

It is why I sometimes have slapped some over eager mod fans a bit hard: to avoid people pushing and pressuring us modders. All the pressure to get mods out, pressure to get the tool to do more, pressure to do things faster, to do things that particular user thinks is important... To not do mods they don't like... Homophobic people, trolls... It gets old and it burns people out.

Some of us are new to modding, some of us have done it for a while but we all have a bad day when we get frustrated. It is good to take some time off. We all need a break anyway, after all the Bi-Cass mod drama and all the upheavals we had lately. Now is as good time as any.

That is why I'm recommending people to relax and enjoy the DLC a bit. Mods have happened and will happen again. But right now we need to at least wait until the game is stable again.

It's worth noting that when using a controller, I believe there's no highlighting over enemies, just a target symbol. I only discovered the outline when I had to use the Mouse/Keyboard UI today when my controller died. :)

Edit: Unless your target is obscured by terrain or something!

There is a workaround to undo patch back to patch5 (where there is a workaround for mods to work with that patch).

Perhaps that is a solution for you untill they fix the current state? :)

I myself ignored patching game or download the DLC just cause i knew the state of the none working mods.

This normally are the issue after patches :) I rather play game with my mods!

Oh and for @Adela on the edge of feeling u wanna give up. Dont! :) We need you and ur skills! :)

I was using about 15 mods before I started beta testing. I removed the mods to beta test and missed them terribly. I miss my Mabari pjs.  :)  I love the mod that took away the class restrictions and miss that too. Everybody is still wearing their modded armor but I'm not going to remove the armor since I'm afraid I won't be able to use it again if I remove it. I just glad what that the armor everybody is wearing still works.

Anyway, what I really wanted to say is that I can be very patient. I'm playing my game unmodded now. Eventually, when things settle down, I'll be modding my game again. I am very thankful for all of you that make mods, work on mods, and make modding possible for the rest of us.

You are all great. Take all the time you need.  :)
