I'm really happy to see someone's looking into keeping the mod manager up to date, while also those who have already worked their asses off so far are taking a break. Thank you so much Dan for helping us out!  ^_^

 

On a somewhat unrelated note, I know modding right now is not possible with all the updates and the new DLC. But as I was playing the DLC with my very first, unmodded Inquisitor, I saw an NPC outfit that made me remember something, though I may have asked this before I don't even know. Has anyone ever looked into NPC outfits and how they could be given to the Inquisitor, before the big waves of updates and patches? I really like some and I hope we can have at least some of them one day, just like in ME. This image prompted the question by the way:

Also if anyone ever manages to look into NPC outfits, could this be another way to figure out what skin color is needed when creating custom outfits? I know there was the elven warrior outfit too, but I don't know what came out of that.

Is that NPC armor from the new DLC? If so  then for now the DAI modding tool can't even fully scan all the assets without crashing the tool with the new patch

 

 in the old patch and when the modding tool use to work as well  you could have viewed some of the meshes from the npc's

 

As far as swapping stuff right now, i don't think its possible since both tools don't work 

Yeah, I meant all that with the hypothetical case of the program working and being able to scan the DLC too  :P But at least now I know NPC outfits could be accessed at the least. So I remain hopeful for the future

EDIT btw can u guys test out if the dai modding tool works for u with the new patch and its not just us? For us it crashes right when its suppose to scan for mesh variation assets

Seems to be crashing for everyone unfortunately. Reason being the new package.mft in the dlc is encrypted with 74 lines of code as opposed to the other ones being unlocked. And unfortunately decrypting that would literally be pirating as the dlc could then be given out for free.

I just saw a mod released on Nexus today that gave the option to flirt with everyone, but I'm not sure if they're using Patch 5 at the moment (I asked).

 

I can't find anything here about a workaround so I'm assuming it's still very much a case of "It's not currently working" at the moment unless you rollback to Patch 5 and don't access the DLC?

 

And welcome, Dan! Good luck on the mission to make the tools functional again, sadly I have no expertise in programming so all I can do is wave pompoms and be a guinea pig when required. n_n

Alright guys, so I was testing Dan's tool and I was able to get it to load all of the assets (besides the ones he had the tool skip).  Then I was able to export, and import an asset.  Then save successfully.  

 

Then, I ran the 0.48 standalone mod manager, and it successfully created a patch ^^.  I haven't tested it in game yet, but I figured I'd let you guys know.

GAH I'm so excited. I miss my mods.

Omg. Import? IMPORT? And it works too, you say?! Implying model swapping would be a possibility? Custom meshes too? Oh I'm going too far, am I not? I'm too excited.

I did also try the trick of moving my patch file, and getting rid of the prior update folder (which worked for patch 6).  

 

 

 

Wait, so you're saying we CAN use mods with patch 6 now? Confused as to whether to jump out my window in excitement or not.
