Also if anyone ever manages to look into NPC outfits, could this be another way to figure out what skin color is needed when creating custom outfits? I know there was the elven warrior outfit too, but I don't know what came out of that.

I'm not sure if I understood your question exactly but typicaly, NPC armors are built 2 ways:

1) as a 1 piece set  with the traditionnal approch of a mesh + textures files to go over it. The skin being already on the texture files so opening them in Photoshop and grabbing the color rgb value there

2) same as the Inquisitor armors are built: bits and pieces in multiple mesh files and texture files where the parts of the armors that  changeable by crafting are neutral grey in the .dds and the ebx files says what default texture to use. The "skin" part are treated like pieces of armor and come from the one piece "armor" Naked Body.

Seems patch 7 is almost exclusively for MP DLC, I hope we get the BE back soon.

We'll be getting in in early May, for free. Which annoys me because I doubt they will add any new hair styles...

Hey guys, I saw this on the /r/dragonage subreddit and thought I should pass this on!

This is very early and still being worked on, so I imagine it needs to be tested. :)

Can this actually be? Mods with the newest patch AND DLC? :o I've been waiting for mods to work to buy and play the DLC ... this is great news if it works!

I tested it on my Cassandra - No Scar mod, and Darker Leliana mod. The game does no longer crashes upon loading and both mods are working.

I have patch 6 but NOT the new expansion.

Working so far for me. Yay!!

It works for me! I just bought the DLC and did a quick test and my mods seem to be working fine! Apparently any mods that have configurable options don't work but I only had one of those (increased inventory mod). I have about 20 or so mods and they're all working.

Can confirm. I have both patch 6 and the DLC installed, and my mods are working.

The only caveat is that any configurable mods (like More Fade-Touched, or Increased Loot) are not compatible. So they need to be downgraded to non-configurable versions.

I think the only one that can't is the Increased Carry Capacity mod, so you'll need to fire up CheatEngine to manually increase your inventory space at this time.

This is wonderful news! To those who have the new patch.daimod working, are you playing the Standard Edition or the Deluxe Edition, or does it not matter?

I'm not sure I understand what the redditer is saying. Could someone maybe give a "for dummies" explanation? (And would my Solas romance mod still work? I'm not sure what "configurable" means.)

When you merge your mods, ModManager creates a patch.daimod file in the same place where the ModManager.exe file is located. That patch.daimod just increments the official patch by one (5 to 6) for the merged files, but for some reason the new Patch 6 crashes the game when it detects it a patch number that's too high.

So the new patch.daimod takes care of that problem by making sure the newly merged patch has the same patch number as the official Patch 6 when the game checks it upon launching. This means that any mod that relies on resources NOT changed by Patch 6 will work fine. That's why you need his specific patch.daimod file, and why you need to make sure NOT to force a rescan of the official patch.

Seems to me that the mods that don't work rely on files/resources that were changed in Patch 6 for whatever reason.

Does that help?

It shouldn't matter, since tmk none of the mods use resources from the Deluxe DLC, but I could be wrong.

Ummm i'm not sure why people are saying that the configurable mods are not working.. I have 'more loot' and 'more fade touched' loaded in in their configurable forms and they appear to be working perfectly?

The only mod i know for def that does not work is, as previously stated, the 'increased inventory' mod.

Dummies guide : - :D

To create the modded patch and to ensure it works with Patch 6 do the following..

  • Place the vanilla patch 6 files in the correct location (automatically done by Origin [use repair or update to latest version])
  • Do Not replace the ModManager patch.diamod file yet.
  • Open the ModManager and ensure 'Force Rescan of Patch' is not selected (check-mark not showing)
  • Click 'Merge' and let the manager run through and create the new patch (select one mod to ensure a 'modded file'). Save this to desktop as you will be deleting these files (not required)
  • Close ModManager and then replace the 'Patch.diamod' file in the ModManager folder with the new one downloaded from HERE
  • Now open ModManager and select which mods you want and then click 'Merge'
  • Save the new files to the 'Merged' folder (or a place of your choosing)
  • Delete the files in the 'bioware/DAI/Patch' folder and replace with the ones you just created
  • Start the game and all should be ok.

For some reason the new patch.diamod file does not always 'take' and can be overwritten so the above method stops this from happening. It is long-winded but it does work.

DO NOT overwrite the files in the 'Bioware/DAI/update/patch' folder. After saving the merge to a new folder DELETE the contents of the patch folder and then copy-paste the new merged files into the patch folder.

Sorry for the multiple posts :D

Patch 6 Modding and DLC content

There does seem to be some conflict with some of the mods and the DLC section of the game. For safety i would probably suggest creating a 'Safe' modded Patch with only the mods that you really need for the DLC. Maybe keep the mods that change/alter character appearances and influence tables or experience tables and drop the 'tweak' mods for the DLC. You should be able to switch back to the fully modded files once you exit the DLC area.
This should then stop the random crashes that are being reported.

This is just a suggestion and not a requirement! I'm only suggesting this as a lot of people are saying that there are 'issues' with a lot of mods in the DLC section.

THANK YOU! This seems like something even a "dummy" like me can follow  I am out of town at present, but next week is spring break, so I can't wait to test this and get back to romancing the elven boyfriend >=D

When you say the "tweak" mods, do you mean mods like "More Fade Touched" and "More Loot"?

I think he means mods that adjust game aspects instead of just visual texture changes :)

So.. yes, those fall under that category!

Loading times have increased with the new modding tools, but the initial loading screen does not take 'that long' to load. If you are experiencing a black screen with the DAI symbol staticin the lower right of the screen for a long period of time then the 'patch.diamod' somehow got overwritten. You would need to re-merge your mods.

Just follow the steps TheIronDrengin wrote, but make sure after you've merged the mods, delete the official patch, move the merged files to that folder that the official patch was in, and delete all of your own folders. It took awhile for me to figure it out :P
