Thanks! Although when I tried to enter them into Cheat Engine it said they could not be found.

They may only be usable with the Frostback Basin merchants. I haven't had a chance to test if anything but Nu Titan's banter trigger works in the Basin, actually so I don't know if you can use the store item editor with those merchants. I'll fire up my save in the Basin when I get home from work and give it a test.

I did the same thing, that's why it didn't work for me the first time. You have to re-do the whole thing all over again :P

I figured that out haha XD I am just dumb sometimes for a while haha :D But if you would not have helped me before maybe I wouldn't have been able to even figure it out.. DAI modding is so different for other moddings.. maybe it's too ''simple'' to me to being used to use ME3Explorer + texmod + gibbed save editor + creating own texture mods there XD so when it is a little more simple I get confused and start to think it must be more hard to do! XD

Is anyone interested in helping me with the tattoo mod I'm about to do? I've extracted the vanilla tattoo texture, so that isn't the issue. The issue is that the modding tool simply won't work, it keeps crashing so I can't make a mod of it. If I send the texture to one of you, would it be okay if you made a mod for me?

I have to go to work so i can't do that for you but try removing the DLC and MP folders from your update folder. The Modding Tool will only open for me if I remove those.

Edit; And now it doesn't seem as if I can make it either :( I have a good idea on what to do, but Photoshop won't save it as I want it...

I've created a file-drop folder on my MediaFire where I've uploaded the pics on how I want my tattoo to look. Think you can help me?

Every time i am trying to start daimod manager with patch.daimod file in the folder, it gives me error upon merging :(

and it shows two -official patch- entries.

Merging works fine if there is no patch.daimod file there.

ViendFx.png

Doesn't matter what patch.daimod i have there, original or replacing one, it wont proccess the merge

Do i do something wrong -.-

So, I installed patch 6, I downloaded the DLC, and I ran through the steps to get mods up and running. But, each time I try to launch DA:I, Origin says there's a new update out, and I have to download it. It verifies my install, says everything is good and that the game is ready for launch. I try to launch it, and it says there's a new update out, and I have to install it. Repeat as infinium. I've reverted to the vanilla patch 6, I've tried removing extraneous folders, and I've run a reboot. Origin keeps running the update-verify-ready-update loop. Has anyone else run into a problem like this, and does anyone have some thoughts on a solution?

To begin with, make sure you've turned off automatic game updates through Origin's application settings.

I did, and on attempted launch, Origin still tells me that DA:I will not be playable without updating. And then it verifies my files in a split second, and tells me I'm good to launch.

I won't pretend to understand the why and how of Zhentar's mod manager workaround, but have a question for those who do: it just allows us to use existing mods again, right?

There's still no workaround for reading/extracting new patch resources, like dialogue files?

@Adela; about the hair, I was thinking that the bangs could look something like this; https://cdn1.cdnme.s...333a9c3fa5d.jpg

Is it possible or too difficult?

My friend and I were having similar problems at first and what worked for us was deleting the entire vanilla Patch folder entirely and then repairing the game with Origin. I also deleted the contents of my Merge folder. Might work for you. :)

@PorcelynDoll, just tried a few of the codes at random at the Dalish Camp in the Exalted Plains with a character whose never stepped foot in the Basin and they worked fine on my second attempt. On the first attempt I was getting the "Could not find item" message as well. But attempt two went perfectly.

The only thing I can think of is there is a space after the code when I copy and paste it directly from the CE forums so perhaps you aren't deleting it. The codes have to exact to work and even a space will cause the error to pop.

Hope that helps! <3

EDIT: My goodness! Give context to your sentences, Stephanie! I'm sorry.  I'm talking about Cheat Engine.

Ran into a crashing issue with using mods when trying to enter the final area of the DLC area (The Temple). Currently trying to find the culprit.

EDIT: Found the culprit. LL Crafting Material fixes

Not sure what it is about Lapislazzuli's mods, but so far it's only been hers that causes the issue. This one and the LL Inquisition Faction cause the game to crash in the DLC area

Well so far I am having a ton of problems with this :( I followed the instructions to the letter, and my game wouldn't launch. So I closed and reopened Origin, which wanted to update. So I updated it. My game still would not launch. So I right clicked on DAI and selected "Check for updates"; it is now downloading another update (???) even though I have already downloaded Patch 6.

Let's hope I did not break my game or my current playthrough, which means the world to me :( Hope you guys can help me if something happens.

EDIT: Download complete -- game still will not launch :( Restarting my computer...

EDIT 2: Okay, started Origin, which wants to update yet again. Updating...

EDIT 3: Update complete. And the game still won't launch. Please, does anyone have any suggestions?

I know we use modding at our own risk, and I blame no one. But I really, truly would appreciate the help of someone more knowledgeable than me. I'm pretty upset (sad, not angry) right now. If anything, perhaps someone could help me revert back to the previous patch so I could at least play the game offline with my mods again. (Or play the game at all, which is impossible at present.)

If it helps, this is what my "Updates" folder looks like:

Untitled_zpsavpcdmo2.png

EDIT: I'm going to try to "Repair" the game. I have no idea what that does, but I've seen others say that can fix things, so I'm going to try it.

@CuriousArtemis - When you say, your game will not launch please be very specific.  The more specific you are, the more we can help identify what's causing your issue.

Now, when I was helping Dan with the modding tool I ran into a similar issue.  When I clicked on the DAI desktop shortcut, my computer acted like it was going to run the game, but then nothing would happen.  When I mean nothing, I mean my screen did not even change, like the gaming was starting up.  Eventually I had to go into my task manager and manually close the game.

The way I fixed this was by removing all modified files from the DAI directory (patch folder included), and going into origin and "repair game".  To Adela's suggestion, I never put any mods into the DAI directory.  I instead made a folder somewhere else (my desktop), that had my mods in it.  Then from another folder, I ran the mod manager 0.48.  Create a merge with it; but not into the DAI directory.  (leave this merge, do not delete it).

Then drag over Zhentar's file into the mod manager, and override it.  Repeat the merge process, except this time put the merge folder into you DAI/update folder.  Delete the existing patch folder, and rename your merge folder patch.

The critical part of all of this is not having mods in the DAI directory, and creating an "entirely new folder" for your mods.  For some reason when I used the existing folder I had with my mods, the game would not work.

Also don't use "check for updates", use "repair game".  Always before you do anything, back up your saves/mods.

I hope everyone realizes that once you create the merge prior to using Zhentar's file, you never have to do it again (as long as you don't delete the file).  Meaning if you add another mod, just use Zhentar's file and create a merge as normal.

Okay, what I mean is, when I click on "Play" in Origin, my mouse pointer turns into a circle, like the computer is "thinking." Then... nothing. The screen does not change, nothing.

Yes, my mods are all in a folder called "mods" on my desktop.

I clicked "Repair" and it repaired the game, but the game still will not launch.

As for the "merged" folder, I no longer have one because it is no longer part of the instructions. The folder "merged" was renamed "Patch" in the Patch 5 instructions:

How to run mods with Patch 5:

1) Copy the patch 5 folder you just got to “Vanillapatch” or whatever name you want

2) Use ModManager version 0.48 to merge your mods again. Save the modded merge to a folder named “Merged” or whatever else you liked

3) Rename the folder named “Patch” to “PatchV”

4) Rename the folder named “Merged” you made on step 2 to “Patch”

5) Start the game

5a) You can delete the folder “PatchV” or leave it there. Keep “Vanillapatch”, You will need “Vanillapatch” if you want to merge more mods

6) to merge new mods: Delete the folder named “Patch” and make a copy of “Vanillapatch” named “Patch”. Run steps 2-5 again.

Ah...

Repeat the merge process, except this time put the merge folder into you DAI/update folder.  Delete the existing patch folder, and rename your merge folder patch.

Okay, I think I did something else. I think I deleted the contents of the existing "Patch" folder and transferred the contents of the newly created "merged" folder into "Patch" then deleted the now empty "merged."

I'm going to go through the process again... going to merge, create the "merged" folder, delete "Patch" and rename "merged" "Patch." We'll see if that works.

EDIT: And... I go to start Origin and Origin wants to update AGAIN!!!!!

EDIT 2: After updating Origin (again), the game still will not launch. I tried launching Sims 4 just to test and it started up just fine. So it is not an Origin problem. It is a problem with DAI.

EDIT 3: I'll just post step-by-step what I did:

1. Opened Origin

2. Downloaded Patch 6

3. Open Mod Manager

4. Made sure "Force Rescan of Patch" was not checked.

5. Clicked "Merge" and saved the resulting info to my desktop.

6. Closed Mod Manager.

7. Downloaded the new "Patch.daimod" file and replaced the one already in the Mod Manager folder.

8. Opened Mod Manager and clicked "Merge"

9. Created a folder called "merged"

10. Waited for mods to finish merging...

11. Once mods were finished merging, opened up the "Updates" folder. Deleted contents of "Patch" folder. Copied contents of "merged" folder to "Patch" folder. Deleted "merged" folder.

Does it look like I missed a step or somehow did something wrong??

@CuriousArtemis - The issue you are having is exactly the same as the one I had.  I already posted above what i did that fixed the issue.  The directions you are referring to are from someone who is summing them up, based on another source.  I've directly read the instructions from Zhentar, and formed my own idea of what fixes the issue.

Make sure before you hit "repair game", delete the current Patch folder.  Delete anything you modified from the DAI directory.  Just because you are "repairing" the game, it doesn't remove added files that could be causing potential issues.

Also, make sure the patch.daimod file used to create the first merge is not Zhentar's fix.  I have my original backed up so I can switch between the two.

Also, I really don't like what your doing with the patch folder.  There could be hidden file types you aren't seeing that are still remaining.  Your best bet is to delete the entire patch folder, and rename your merged folder to patch.  That's the only way you can be 100% nothing remains.

Just so you know what I did above not only allowed me to use "existing" mods, but it allowed me with Dans update to create and use "new" mods that I created.
