Thank you thank you thank you so much for responding :) Okay let's see if I can actually wrap my sad little ignorant head around this...

Make sure before you hit "repair game", delete the current Patch folder.  Delete anything you modified from the DAI directory.  Just because you are "repairing" the game, it doesn't remove added files that could be causing potential issues.

Er, well, at this point I am not sure what has been modified and what was originally there. All's I do is follow instructions from you guys; I am completely ignorant when it comes to modding  The Patch 5 workaround has got me turned inside out and upset down as far as what was once in the Updates folder. Maybe you can look at that screenshot and suggest what should be deleted before repairing the game???

Untitled_zpsavpcdmo2.png

Also, make sure the patch.daimod file used to create the first merge is not Zhentar's fix.  I have my original backed up so I can switch between the two.

I'm so sorry, but I don't really know what this means. Wait -- do you mean when I deleted the original patch.daimod file and replaced it with the "fix"? I was not supposed to delete that original file?? Because I did... it's gone. I swear I was only following instructions that were posted in this thread!!

·             Close ModManager and then replace the 'Patch.diamod' file in the ModManager folder with the new one downloaded from HERE

I am way, way confused now!!

Also, I really don't like what your doing with the patch folder.  There could be hidden file types you aren't seeing that are still remaining.  Your best bet is to delete the entire patch folder, and rename your merged folder to patch.  That's the only way you can be 100% nothing remains.

Just so you know what I did above not only allowed me to use "existing" mods, but it allowed me with Dans update to create and use "new" mods that I created.

Ah, what exactly is it that I'm doing with the Patch folder? But okay I will do that -- again  (Cause I tried that the second time I went through this... see above... and game still did not launch)

I'm afraid I don't know anything about creating mods. I only use them ^^ (badly, and break my game with them lol)

Okay --- should I simply delete the Mod Manager and redownload it so I have the original patch.daimod file?

And before repairing the game, shall I delete Patch, PatchV, and Vanilla Patch from the Updates folder?

So, your best bet is to just delete all of the folders in that update folder.  It may take a bit to re-download the files, but its better than not knowing what is original and what is not.  Just make sure you back up your mods prior to it.  From looking at your Update folder, that could easily be the issue.

In regard to the Mod manager.  Its very simple.  Download the original 0.48.  Create a merge with at least 1 mod somewhere else on your computer, and leave it there (you don't have to name it merge folder..I called mine something vulgar @_@).

Then download the patch.daimod, and override the one in the Mod manager.  Then create your merge as normal into your update folder.

Thank you :) This sounds like a good plan. It's 11:30pm over here though and I've been at this for an hour and a half, so I think I will try it out tomorrow.

My GOSH what a headache lol!!!!!!!!

You're welcome.  It took me about 4 hours of troubleshooting to get my mod to work lol.  Most of that was repeating the same steps I did before, and trying new things.  I was half expecting for it to not work after all I had tried, and then to my surprise I got it to work.

Hey guys,

I am currently working on a vitaar mod for Iron Bull, but i realized that the blossom vitaar is not working for whatever reason. I find that really weird:

The deathroot vitaar and the blossom vitaar share the same dds file, yes? I edited both of them and imported them into the game, but only the deathroot vitaar is showing. The blossom vitaar is still showing the vanilla version, even though it's the same file as the deathroot vitaar (which is working).

Every other vitaar is showing up correctly, though.

Does anybody know what could have caused this, or is this maybe a bug? I used patch 5 to make the mods with the ModdingTool and then I switched to Patch 6 to merge the files in the ModManager.

Other mods that were made in the past are working fine (just like my other vitaar mod for the inquisitor).

Dummies guide : - :D

To create the modded patch and to ensure it works with Patch 6 do the following..

  • Place the vanilla patch 6 files in the correct location (automatically done by Origin [use repair or update to latest version])
  • Do Not replace the ModManager patch.diamod file yet.
  • Open the ModManager and ensure 'Force Rescan of Patch' is not selected (check-mark not showing)
  • Click 'Merge' and let the manager run through and create the new patch (select one mod to ensure a 'modded file'). Save this to desktop as you will be deleting these files (not required)
  • Close ModManager and then replace the 'Patch.diamod' file in the ModManager folder with the new one downloaded from HERE
  • Now open ModManager and select which mods you want and then click 'Merge'
  • Save the new files to the 'Merged' folder (or a place of your choosing)
  • Delete the files in the 'bioware/DAI/Patch' folder and replace with the ones you just created
  • Start the game and all should be ok.

For some reason the new patch.diamod file does not always 'take' and can be overwritten so the above method stops this from happening. It is long-winded but it does work.

File and original instructions (these are expanded instructions) by Zhentar

DO NOT overwrite the files in the 'Bioware/DAI/update/patch' folder. After saving the merge to a new folder DELETE the contents of the patch folder and then copy-paste the new merged files into the patch folder.

Wonderful!! Thanks a lot.  Wow! Patch 6 with all the mods working...;)

The blossom vitaar isn't in the game without using something like Cheat Engine to get it. As far as I know, anyway.

When I made my mod, I just took the maps for the blossom and pasted them into one of the vanilla files. The eelsnake, or something like that, and that's how I got that one in game.

Sorry, I probably worded my last post strangely

My problem isn't how to make the blossom vitaar appear in the game, since I like to use cheat engine. Like - the vitaar is literally not there, even if I use cheat engine. I edited the maps, but only the vanilla vitaar is appearing even though elfsnake is working just fine.

Editing the blossom vitaar for the inquisitor worked fine and it showed up in the game, so I have no idea why it's not working for Iron Bull's files.

Does the blossom appear in the files you pulled? I never got around to messing with Iron Bull's vitaar files. I know the name of the blossom for the inquisitor says 'ballroom' or something, so maybe it is specific to the quizzy and Iron Bull just doesn't have it?

@PorcelynDoll, just tried a few of the codes at random at the Dalish Camp in the Exalted Plains with a character whose never stepped foot in the Basin and they worked fine on my second attempt. On the first attempt I was getting the "Could not find item" message as well. But attempt two went perfectly.

The only thing I can think of is there is a space after the code when I copy and paste it directly from the CE forums so perhaps you aren't deleting it. The codes have to exact to work and even a space will cause the error to pop.

Hope that helps! <3

EDIT: My goodness! Give context to your sentences, Stephanie! I'm sorry.  I'm talking about Cheat Engine.

It was the space at the end that was causing the problem. Thank you so much for the help.

Yes, Iron Bull's file has a map for the blossom vitaar, just like the quizzi.
By the way, I just checked again and now I'm more irritated than ever: if I equip the blossom vitaar via cheat engine, Bull's not actually wearing the blossom vitaar. He's wearing this (i think it's a map for the deepstalker vitaar, i'm not sure though):

Spoiler

I don't even know what's happening anymore oh my goodness.. The deepstalker vitaar and the blossom vitaar don't even share a file. Ok now I'm pretty sure something went wrong.

Just be very, very careful; I followed these exact instructions and it didn't work :(  (About to turn on my PC and try to tackle the problem)

EDIT: Oh and in case it's not clear I'm placing the blame entirely on myself :P Just be careful though.. be prepared for a disaster.

Okay y'all, and here's my new plan of action! Let me know what you thik:

Delete Patch, PatchV, and Vanilla Patch.

Repair game. Update if needed.

Delete Mod Manager.

Download new Mod Manager

Open Mod Manager and ensure Force Rescan not selected.

Click Merge.

Create Merged folder on desktop.

Download new patch.daimod

Replace in Mod Manager.

Open Mod Manager and Merge.

Create Merged folder in Updates folder

Rename Patch to Vanilla Patch

Rename Merged folder Patch

*** Have to head out now so can't try it until later tonight. Fingers crossed!!!

Got my mods working with patch 6, big happy dance :)! Thanks Zhentar on reddit for the fix and Tarkov33 and TheIronDrengin here for spreading the word and giving instructions for dummies, worked like a charm for me :)

I use the configurable "more Loot" mod and works fine for me too, so at least some configurable mods should be ok.

And hi and welcome to Dan wonderfull to hear you`re working on the tools!

Thanks all you great modders out there, you´ve allready made DAI tons more fun and replayable for me, and I´ve got a feeling it will only get better...Cheers!

Greetings,

Been a while since I was active here, or in any other gaming related activities in general, work and other topics kinda of overwhelmed me but now I got more free time again.

I'm very pleased with all the progress that the community has done, you guys are so amazing! And welcome Dan to the dev team of DAI modding community, I'm sure you'll do an excellent job for us all :D

Just a heads up: I opened my mods to the public again at Nexus, since I been receiving messages and e-mails requesting me to do so. The mods are not updated or improved in any way (yet), being just the way I left them a couple months ago. I will be working on them again now that I got more time, and I might make new ones in a near future.

I'd like to thank you all for the support and appreciation and apologize for the long absence.

(To be sure I don't know if the mods still work in their current state, if they don't please let me know.)

Hey guys bit of an update from Dan.  He's been kind of busy lately but found some time to fix  the DAI Modding Tool

DAI Modding Tool v1.27 released

This version of the Modding Tool contains a fix to allow mods to work with the latest patch of DAI

Instruction:
* Download from link below
* Unpack to a folder
* Run the EXE

Modding Tool (x64): https://drive.google...iew?usp=sharing
Modding Tool (x86): https://drive.google...iew?usp=sharing

NOTE: This tool requires and updated version of the Mod Manager to pack mods and get them working in-game. This tool is not officially updated but there IS a working fix. Please see the following thread for more information.
The old version of Mod Manager (version 0.48) will NOT work. The mods created with that version will either freeze the game at startup or will crash the game completely.

Link to working Mod Manager:
http://daitools.free...tch-6-t681.html

Now, note ive done some tests and found a couple of things

    1. copy  the  daimodding configuration settings from Ehams old tool into  Dan's updated one. So it can start scanning. If this part isn't done , then when u are going  click on the DAI exe the tool will crash

    2. If you got the new DLC Jaws  of Hakkon move it somewhere else when the tool is scanning for assets, if you have the DLC  in the update folder the tool will crash when it will try to make a cache.

Dan will find a solution for that later, but for now  we will have to do these steps

Also wb Kamael

My friend and I were having similar problems at first and what worked for us was deleting the entire vanilla Patch folder entirely and then repairing the game with Origin. I also deleted the contents of my Merge folder. Might work for you. :)

Thank you, but it didn't help, lol :( I am not lucky enough. Will have to wait, i guess.

I haven't been able to find an updated version of ModManager in that thread (beyond 0.48) only the new patch.daimod. Is this all that is required or is there actually a new version of ModManager out there?

Thanks for the help.

So we still use 0.48 just with the new patch.daimod? OK trying it now. I managed to get DAI Modding Tool up and running so that's a blessing :D
