I'm wondering, would it be possible to make Morrigan and Leliana's hair available to the Inquisitor? At the very least for human females?

I'm very sorry if this had been already mentioned, but did anyone notice this in the modding tool?

oZNyUVN.png

I don't remember seeing this file in the past but maybe it's just my horrible memory. If so then sorry.

There are basically models and textures for Isabela's armor (and i *think* a pirate hat), but I don't think I've seen that anywhere in the game..? I thought maybe it's the "hat of the inquisitor", but the hat is brown in the dds file and there are black feathers. I certainly don't remember that in the game.   :blink:

Edit: Here's the hat. The skull looks cool and I am sure I've never seen it before.

Spoiler

Hey guys bit of an update from Dan.  He's been kind of busy lately but found some time to fix  the DAI Modding Tool

Now, note ive done some tests and found a couple of things

    1. copy  the  daimodding configuration settings from Ehams old tool into  Dan's updated one. So it can start scanning. If this part isn't done , then when u are going  click on the DAI exe the tool will crash

    2. If you got the new DLC Jaws  of Hakkon move it somewhere else when the tool is scanning for assets, if you have the DLC  in the update folder the tool will crash when it will try to make a cache.

Dan will find a solution for that later, but for now  we will have to do these steps

Also wb Kamael

I did number 1, didn't work :( it crashes at once :(

huh :/ here's what the daimodding.ini says to me:

wth_5526c0949606ee5f39e12687.jpg

Er...that's embarrassing, I was looking at the wrong file (notepad++ keeps like 20 files open at once.) I was looking at daimodmanager.ini.

My file says:

BasePath=C:\Program Files (x86)\Origin Games\Dragon Age Inquisition\
CacheVersion=5
PatchVersion=7 <----this was always 7, I don't know why.
Language=en
Author=mrjack <----this was blank until I made my first mod
GlobalMeshScale=1
Version=v1.27 alpha <--- the old file said 1.26 before I rescanned

I think it was Joyce's post quoting me spouting nonsense (which I hid) so I think it's all good :)

Okay, guys, called Dell and they're going to have me ship the PC back to them and see what they can do. The game played for a couple hours yesterday but once again I can't play for five minutes without the screen going black. The Dell guy did a remote stress test and the same thing happen, so off it goes.

He said I may want to back up my data, and I played it cool and was like, oh yeah, good idea! But of course I have absolutely no idea how to do this >.> I guess the only thing I would want to back up are my saves for DAI, Sims 4, and Skyrim (only games I have on PC). Any tips on how to do this would be appreciated (perhaps via PM??). I know I can do Cloud saves for DAI... is that good enough?

Renmiri shall I hide this and some of my other tech issue posts in a bit? I feel I've been clogging up this MODDING group thread with not-always-mod-related posts lol xD

Try signing up to OneDrive  and set it to backup everything in your "My Documents" folder. You have it already if you have a Microsoft (hotmail.com/live.com) email account.

That should keep all your saves, settings and screenshots for all 3 of those games. That's where they're kept on my PC.

Here's a quick sloppy guide I just wrote. It assumes your familiar with Photoshop. I don't know what exactly your having difficulty with so it might be too simple or too vague. Let me know.

1) Extract tattoo_elf_01.dds (or alternatively 02 or 03) from DA3>Actors>Basheads>Textures>Tatoos

2) Extract any human/dwarf/elf face diffuse texture for example hf_hed_bas_d.dds from DA3>Actors>Baseheads>Humanfemale>Textures

3) Open up the diffuse face texture and (if you're confident that you can recreate the tattoo) use the either the pen tool or paint brush, on a new layer, draw the tattoo design in black. Use the visible facial features to guide you.

OR

If you a have a vector image (or any image with transparency like a png) of the tattoo, paste it on to image as a new layer and use the  freehand selection tool and cut and paste to separate the different parts of the tattoo into different layers and then use the transform tool to move, shape and resize these layers so that they are arranged correctly on the face. Merge the tattoo layers. Rasterize this layer if it was a vector.

4) You should now have a layer that is just the tattoo in black with transparency. You want to make sure it is 100% black so I either lock the pixels of that layer and paint over again with a black brush set to 100% hardness and transparency or use brightness/contrast to make it really black (usually I do both).

5) With your tattoo layer selected press ctrl+i (cmd+i on mac) to make it 100% white.

6) Resize image to 1048x1048

7) Create a new image sized 1048x1048, Color Mode - greyscale, 1 bit

8) Press Shift+F5 to open the fill dialog and select black and press OK

9) Go back to your face diffuse and select the white tattoo layer and, press ctrl+a to select all and copy this layer and paste it into the new image you just created. Flatten image so you have just one layer containing your new tattoo. Select all and copy.

10) Open your tattoo image tattoo_elf_01.dds and select the R/G/B/Alpha channel that contains the tattoo you wish to replace and paste your new tattoo into that channel. You cannot work with layers within a a channel so that is why you had to create it in a second document.

11) Save the modified tattoo dds as dtx5 with interpolated alpha and use DAI modding tool to replace the original and save your mod. (Naviagate to the file you want to replace, double-click, and then import from the menu bar in the pop up dialog)

12) That's it but be aware that different face shapes can cause undesirable stretching of your tattoo so you might not get it right first time.

thank you :D although I have like zero imagination about creating one now, it seems :( I've stayed up all night, maybe that's why xD

What are you guys talking about?  Isabela's mesh has been in there since release.  I probably posted screen shots of it on the first couple pages of this very group lol.  Not my fault nobody noticed back then ;p

Examples of my old screenies:

Spoiler

Spoiler

Ignore the head and hair.  Those are from a different npc.  I seem to either remember finding the armor in the enemy meshes, or in multiplayer.  I'll have to check again.

I had these extracted with the old command line modification Eham did, long before the tools were even released.

Edit:

Yea, just double checked.  It was under

Bundles\Meshes\da3\factions\felicisima\appearances\uni_hf_sailors_lgt01a.  I'll post a better screen shot in a sec here ;p

Does the texture look familiar?

Spoiler

Alright lets see if this link works:

Spoiler

Can you guys see this last image?  That's the actual 3d obj rendered, but i didn't set the normal maps right.  Lol did it headless, cause none of the heads looked right.

It's the "White Claw Padfoot" enemies in the Western Approach that wear this one.

I get so annoyed every time I get to the Western Approach. The White Claws have some pretty awesome outfits and BW didn't make them obtainable for us? The WC Escorts get this awesome tail coat with an ascot! I want that so much!
