No, I mean, it was working before, then the update - or whatever it was - broke it. I just need to spend a few minutes fixing it. I've never used the installer, I just copied the extracted files over. I just can't work on it too much for a couple more hours.

Mine oddly seems to still be working after the update, wonder what the issue is.

Hey guys Dan asked if you guys will be kind enough to test the new mod manager and hear your results here is the link : https://docs.google....lZITFRtRTA/edit

So in the download u will see 2 files the DAI mod manager exe and the  dll file. Copy those files into Ehams old mod manager and delete/backup the old exe. You dont have to do the whole patch.daimond thing again it works for merging with either patch.daimond

What we are looking for is if ppl are experiencing  crashes during the game with mods that haven't been updated in a while such as romance mods  armor/weapon restriction mods and the  big inventory mods

Please post  if you are experiencing crashes in game

For me the merging went fine and could see all the mods in game but after 15-20 mins the game just crashes

Edit to add, weather or not you are experiencing crashes, please post either way so we can know. Thanx in advance

I just tried testing the new manager. And the Manager itself crashed while it was trying to merge

Hopefully something easily fixed. Last time I had trouble with SweetFX (before i switched to Reshade) I ran DAI using Outcome, and then was able to run DAI via Origin launch.

Soooo we'll see. *shrug*

Mine crashed about 50% of the way through the merging process (Running Patch 6 w/o the new update)

Edit: Okay it just seems to be the more loot mod still isn't compatible. Testing it in game now.

Thank you for testing,  it also depends on how many mods you have and what *kind* of mods you have... some updated mods will work without an issue some may just make the tool crash. For now just try mods that are just retextures and see if that works.

Some scripted mods  or plot flags mods that haven't been updated  may not work unfortunately... so it may be up to the creators of those mods to update them or you can update them ur self using the DAI modding tool

Ok guys so me Otte done some tests  with one  mod at a time (old mods that are still in a distributable patch formats)  and they seems to be working fine in game and while merging with the mod manager as long as they are by themselves and no other mods

2morrow i will be testing just the daimod  files one by one and see if those cause any crashes. If NOT then im gonna test 2 at a time one old mod and one new, and if they cause the mod manager to crash or the  game then it might not be a problem for the mod manager, it might just be a matter for the creators of the old mods to update their files... but we shall see tomorrow how it goes....

All right, so I worked with the ModManager .49alpha for a while now, and have the following observations:

  • Used mah bright and shiny patch files downloaded today! (which turned out to be official P6)
  • Could NEVER get it to work if 'Force rescan of Patch' was checked. Full stop, it just never worked and would crash no matter what mods I added or removed, or even if there were no mods and I tried to make a dummy mod. That was true of P6, didn't try it with P5
  • Always crashed if any Configurable mods were used. Whenever I used a NON-configurable (usually older) version of the same mod, they worked fine. This included (but may not be limited to):
    • ConversationCameraZoom
    • MoreResearchItems
    • NewInfluenceTableFlex
    • MoreLoot - any of the new, configurable versions
  • I confirmed also that my non-configurable non-texture mods (such as War Table - No Waiting) DID work without issue
  • I have a mixture of mods, from pre-.daimod versions to new .daimod versions. All seem to work no problem aside from the ones listed above

Right now, I just have the game up and and running on another monitor to test for crashing. Every once in a while I play and/or change characters - no crashes so far.

Will update if anything changes.

I don't know how many of you guys use my Lion of Ferelden mod for Cullen but I just thought I'd let anyone who does know they're off Nexus mod for now. Some of the people there are not very nice it seems. If you still want them they're here: http://www.daitools....ds-t678-10.html

That's also where I'll post anything new I deem worthy of release but for now it's home to the nine variations of Cullen's armour I made and a quick and dirty retexture of Samson's armour I made this morning.

Steph <3

Hugs!

You are welcome to post all the stuff on our forum and we will keep the jerks out with our banhammer :D

I played for about 3 hours and had no issues. I noticed slight increase of load times for character models in the menu, but that was it. Worked flawless otherwise.

When you guys are testing, I would quickly open the game and close it.  For some odd reason when I first launch DAI after turning on my computer, it seems to take a bit longer.  Once I restart the game, almost like due to some caching, the game loads quite a bit faster.

Also when you guys are switching patches, I'm really curious if that's the only change they've done to the files.  I tend to back up not only my update folder, but the DAI.exe and all the dll's.  So its possible when you reverted you are still using a newer exe, not made for an older patch lol.  Though, I haven't checked in a bit, the exact file changes each patch.

Oh and:

Spoiler

The new mod manager 0.49 worked fine for me.  Created a merge with two newly made mods.  I also did some in game play testing, seemed to work great for me.  Thanks again for all the hard work ^^

Regarding load times - I was having a nightmare with load times with about 8 mods installed (more loot (crafting), no level reqs, no class reqs, camera zoom + a few tex mods) but when I did a test run with just one new qunari face texture (3 files) I just created, the load times were super fast like the game was unmodded. I wish I knew what type of mod caused the long load times...

As for patch 7, it's not out yet from what I can tell. Origin is telling me my game is up-to-date and my patch version is showing as 7 which is official Patch 6. Adela, Multiplayer DLC 2 is currently being tested in beta so maybe you're right and it preloaded it for some reason. I don't have auto update turned on and don't have any MP DLC installed on my normal game, only the beta.

Mrjack - Hmm, I'm not sure about the non texture mods.  Unless there's some kind of scripts involved, it shouldn't affect loading time.  The texture mods can, depending on how good your graphics card is.  So if you running on ultra with HQ textures...lol that can cause alot of load time.  Again, depends on your rigs setup.

It'll be hard for me to notice slowdown since I'm running SLI.  I haven't had enough experience with frostbite 3 to know how it loads textures.  I know that skyrim had massive load times if you slapped on a ton of textures, unless once again you had a beastly graphics card that was overkill.

It sounds like you got mainly player/npc texture mods right?  I'm curious to know how bad terrain will be for loading lol.

I never did check if I got in the beta, guess I should have a look lol.  Been way to busy with Pillars of Eternity @_@

Right now I'm updating the Beta to see if I got the new one ;p

Seems, like everything worked pretty fine :). Had few old mods changing appearance, face textures and eyes retexturing. No crashes so far. Merge only works without patch.daimod in the folder, otherwise it shows two -Official patch- entries, as it showed with 0.48 too

Yea, I would just use the two files in the 0.49.  I wouldn't override the old mod manager with them.  It will create its own patch.daimod on its own anyways ;p

@Silvist - I only run about 4 texture mods at a time max and I run on ultra but my PC can totally handle it. Put it this way I play Skyrim with a metric ton of 4K textures, RealVision ENB, Cliamtes of Tamriel maxed out, Grass on Steroids, PureWaters etc and it's super snappy and load times are negligible - like 2-5 seconds. It's the same with DAI without mods. I know DAI is not mod friendly so it's not fair to compare them and the guys have done great work to even crack Frostbite but I just hate long load times.

I think I'm gonna have to test the mods one by one. I wish I understood exactly how it was all working so I could identify any future culprits though.

@MrJack - Yea, I know how you feel lol.  Sounds like you shouldn't have any slow down if you could run that on skyrim lol.

@Ottemis - *wink wink* I see what you were saying about the Beta patch....

Just for reference: I'm running 47 mods. All loaded fine, and no crashes in the game yet with them all running.

ETA: Oh, and got ReShade running. I herped the derp and forgot to Run as Administrator (a necessity on my box so the hooks can inject into the game). Derp!

So far my observations are similar, apart from being able to use the force rescan option without crash issues. Granted, I only tried once, I'll have to take another stab at it later.

I'm using configurable mods (MoreLoot, MoreFadeTouched and Difficulty Mod) and never had Mod Manager v0.49 crash once. The game runs perfectly as well. Played for about three hours yesterday after I remerged with the new manager, not a single issue whatsoever. I use a total of 55 separate mods, including two made with Modding Tools 1.27.

I haven't had a chance to make it back to the Basin yet so I can't say if its good there or not.

Concerning loading time issues:
Being one of the modders that likes to do BIG re-texture mods ... :P ... I ran into the issue with slooow loading time myself until I figured out what was the problem.

Simply put, the issue comes from running texture mods being done with the ModdingTools prior to version 1.24. Prior to DMM 1.25, the mods were froced to display the biggest MIP available all the time. It didnt change loading time much if you ran only a few small retextures but made a HUGE difference when running big mods.

The solution is to redo the mods with DMM 1.26 and up. I'm currently running all the mods I've made (LL Armor Crafting, LL Skyhold Clothing, LL Crafting Material, LL Inquiition Faction and LL Inquistor Uniform) plus a few others so roughly 270 retexturing files and loading time is only slightly slower than vanilla now that I have redone and resaved everything (even the mod that weren't mine) with DMM 1.26.

Been using the new modding manager, but my mods aren't showing up at all

Are you deleting the vanilla patch files then placing the merged ones or are you just overwriting them? If you're overwriting it doesn't replace everything sometimes. I'm not a expert but that's my experience with it.

I just delete the entire vanilla patch folder then move my merged into the update folder renaming it patch. Don't know if that helps any.

sigh I really miss the override folder from the first two games.
