Are you deleting the vanilla patch files then placing the merged ones or are you just overwriting them? If you're overwriting it doesn't replace everything sometimes. I'm not a expert but that's my experience with it.

I just delete the entire vanilla patch folder then move my merged into the update folder renaming it patch. Don't know if that helps any.

sigh I really miss the override folder from the first two games.

ah, I didn't delete the vanilla patch, forgot to do that :P I tried again, and now it's showing up :D thankies!!! :D

Same here :( so much simpler :( I have a theory though about why Bioware doesn't give us good hairstyles or clothing; it's because they secretly are flattered by the modders; that we actually take the time to figure it out :P

You're welcome! <3

BW could have given us 100 different choices for hairstyles and outfits and I'd still be sitting here going "So when are the mods coming?" There's just no pleasing me. I can't not mod games. I play something I've never played before and about an hour in my brain goes "Psst, check if there are any mods for it. Just check. It can't hurt to check." Then I have all the texture mods under the sun installed. Playthrough two is when the game mechanics tweaks get implemented. :P

haha, maybe that's why they don't bother with the hairstyles and clothing, since they know we will add it ourselves :P

Yeah, no matter how many hoops we have to jump through to get mods working there are always kind souls who know programming that will make it happen! May whatever deity they believe in bless them! Because goodness knows I have no idea what I'm doing when it comes to stuff like that! I'm a "put the thing in the other thing and see what happens" type of person. Spoiler alert: nothing good almost ever happens. :P

Thank you for testing,  it also depends on how many mods you have and what *kind* of mods you have... some updated mods will work without an issue some may just make the tool crash. For now just try mods that are just retextures and see if that works.

Some scripted mods  or plot flags mods that haven't been updated  may not work unfortunately... so it may be up to the creators of those mods to update them or you can update them ur self using the DAI modding tool

The same thing is happening to me. It crashes unless I only load texture mods.

hey guys!! hoping i can join in and be of some use :)

is it possible for us to take .daimod files that haven't been updated, and update them ourselves? or would we need source info for that?

i am currently updating my lavellan's face texture to see how things go.

also should add: i successfully merged 3 .daimod files that have not been updated for this, but none of them even showed. did anyone else have them working? i was using a josie retexture (changes her clothes to red and creme) and a leliana one (fire red hair and lace retexture on her outfit). i did both on individual tests runs, but nothing showed at all? despite merging going fine and no crashes

You need to use the Amor Locker mod to wear squadmate armor, you can't just edit the coalesced alone. There's a great tutorial (in 2 parts) and links to download the mod in the following links.

Part 1

Part 2

It may seem complicated but it's not so bad once you get used to it. Also, you can ignore all the stuff about using UModel to find your mesh name and package (PCC file) because you have that info already from the mod page you linked.

ETA: Even with Armor Locker, your character will change back to N7 armor when you change scene because the PCC isn't loaded. You have to activate the PCC and load Shepard's cabin wardrobe at the beginning of levels or upon return to the Normandy and reselect the outfit you want to wear. With the armor locker mod you just press a button and the cabin wardrobe loads as an overlay of the main menu, you quickly change clothes and exit. The only problem arises when a level starts with a cutscene because you will be in N7 armor until you regain control. I don't think this is the case for Miranda though, I know it isn't for Jacob. His PCC is always loaded and I wear a red and black N7 version of his combat suit all the time.

ah, ok :( because when I try to wear that armor as casual in my Thane-romance scene, she's wearing her N7 armor. Is there a way to go around that?

I don't know to be honest.  I'm not sure why changing to a cutscene but still being on the Normandy would not still have the PCC loaded but I guess if your wearing it before the scene and then it changes back, it probably isn't possible.

You might want ask the creator of the mod if she (or he) has found away around it. It seems unlikely though. It probably should work when you invite him up to your cabin to snuggle if that's any consolation.

ah, ok :( no need to try and mod it into the game, then :P

1) Did you make your daimod with a vanilla patch6 in your Update/Patch folder?

2) Same question for when you did the merge

3) Did you put the resulting merged patch into the Update/Patch folder after removing the vanilla patch 6?

Ok maybe my questions are obvious but when trying to figure out what's wrong, it's a good thing to remove the obvious :P

I've been successfully using both tools since they got out in numerous daimod creation and merges.

Yes it's possible but you need to extract the modified files with the Modding Tools then create a new daimod and re-import the files. It's the only way to make sure they are "processsed" correctly.

This, and also bear in mind that it's not going to look as good when you put it through the new update.

Does anyone know where I can get a proper download of DirectX texture tool that girlplaysgame is talking about here? I can't get a v8u8 normalmap anywhere :( (and I'm sorry for getting OT, but I really need help)

Edit; Nevermind, I figured it out :D

okay so.. what steps do i need to follow including the workaround? do i need to remake the mod with vanilla 6 out of the update folder?

edit: i just tried to open the modding tools with the vanilla patch out of the update folder and it crashed? then i remove the patch 6, but made my merged folder name to Patch, and it opened. is that correct?

When scanning with the mod tool you need to remove Jaws Of Hakkon out of your update folder, at least I think that's what Dan/Adela said.

Yeah my eyebrow mod looks really pixelated since I updated it to the daimod format. I tried recreating it at 4096 res but there wasn't really an improvement and the file size was huge.

You can rework the sharpness by adjusting MIP levels by hand in Photoshop or the likes.

As daimods work as intended you're no longer always using highest MIP level for texture mods, this is much better for load but requires MIPs to be individually optimized for some texture mods.
