Er guys.. I just created a modded patch and forgot to move the vanilla patch out of the update folder, the vanilla patch folder was still called "Patch" and my merged folder was called "Patch_mod" but when I ran the game the mods were there anyway.

It was like how it used to be when just having a higher patch number would be enough for the game to recognise it. No renaming or moving required.

The only difference between then and now is that I'm using the fixed patch.daimod and the name of my merged folder is Patch_mod instead of "merged". As the fix only has to be done once, this is just as easy as it was before.

Can someone else try and recreate this? Maybe because the folder name starts with "Patch" as a single word, the game looks there too?

Oh, cool! I managed to recreate this using the new Mod Manager instead of the fixed patch.daimod.  Thank you for the heads up. This makes things a lot easier.

It didn't work with just MM v0.49 for me but when I did it with Zhen's fix and MM v0.49 it worked like a charm! Yay! It's so much easier than remembering to delete and rename folders. :D

@mrjack whoops this never updated!

i was going to ask--so you made a patch_mod folder in update, put your merged files in there, and never removed the vanilla patch at the same time? and u started the game and it just, worked?? do you think you could type out exactly what you did? or is it literally the same steps as before, just without removing vanilla folder?

If you don't have a patch.daimod in your DA Mod Manager folder.

  • Do a merge of one mod, call the folder anything then delete the folder and it's contents.
  • Delete the newly created patch.daimod from the DA Mod Manager folder.
  • Replace it with the fixed patch.daimod

If you do, just replace it with the fix, then:

  • Select the mods you want, and hit merge.
  • Name the new folder "Patch_mod" - make sure it is created in the "Update" folder.
  • You do not need to delete, move or rename the official patch folder.

That's it.

If Mod Manager ever says "Processing official patch", you need to redo the fix.

Make sure you never check "Force rescan"

I wouldn't mind hearing from a few more people if this method works for them. If it does, it means that Dan or whoever else is working on Mod Manager doesn't need to address the issue of needing to"overwrite" the official patch to get mods to work.

Further to my above posts, I just had a PM from someone who also got this to work using the format Patch_[their character's name].

It worked for me, albeit in the most cursory of tests (running around the DLC map for ~15 minutes killing spiders). All of my installed mods seemed to be functioning properly, as best as I could tell.

All right, you want to know something odd?

A while back, I commented that my ReShade got brokeded by Patch 6 (which turned out not to be true). At the time, I thought that the issue was that I wasn't running as administrator. It worked fine after that, until I tried a new preset (the Realistic SWEETFX from the Nexus updated with Reshade/SweetFX 2.0). And then it started CTD again when I launched DAI.

So I did some digging, and found the culprit: the ReShade log file. If I delete it every time, I can run ReShade no issue with DAI. If I leave the log file in the DAI directory and try to launch DAI, it crashes. I thought it was a permissions issue, but nope. Full GOD permissions, and still CTD.

Anyone run into this? It's a darned odd reason for the software to crash, especially since permissions aren't an issue.

Makes me wonder if whatever change they made that broke the old way of mods in Patch 5 was undone in Patch 6.

Reporting that so far the patch.daimod fix seems to working, even though the v.49 mod manager still said it processed the official patch for me. So...good?

Just to be clear, when using the above method, should we have the official patch checked under the mod list? I had a vanilla copy of patch 6, so I just used that when trying to merge the one mod with the new mod manager, and I still got the 'processing official patch' message

ETA: The MM didn't say that when I made the actual merge, so I guess it was just for the first one you throw away. Can also confirm that mr.jack's method is working for me.

Does anyone know what happened to Adela's 3ds hair guide? I can't seem to find it on the other forums anymore.  :(

Adela seems to have deleted the topic, you will have to ask her. Maybe she has a revised version or had some other idea with it.

Just to let everyone know, apparently on Gamestop and Origin, the Black Emporium now has a set release date of May 5th (next Tuesday). Jaws of Hakkon will also be released for everyone else on May 26th.

This seems to support the idea that Patch 7's release is imminent.

EDIT TO ADD: Upon going back and looking at the (sorta) source, the only true OFFICIAL released date announced is Jaws of Hakkon on May 26th. The BE date was through inference from a screenshot. Though it is highly likely that May 5th is the release date for BE, it hasn't been officially announced. My guess is that if it is legit, they'll announce it in their twitch stream tomorrow morning.

Hello everyone!

I've been helping someone get the Manager working for them over on the DA subreddit and I've hit a roadblock in my knowledge of how to help them. They're getting an error I've never seen before: "Task failed. Error reported was: An item with the same key has already been added" Here's the screenshot they sent me of the error, as well: http://i.imgur.com/IGFBSP5.jpg

I know Eham left a notice on the Nexus page about this error back in February but the person I'm trying to help isn't using language workarounds so I'm at a loss. Has anyone seen this before and do you know how to fix it? I hate leaving things half finished and I really hate mysteries. Thanks for the help!

What patch number should a modded game be at?
