So back to using the former use merged patch as official patch? That's manageable I guess but I'm leery of changing the patch version number as it will tie the save game to that number.

If it gets fixed the standard modded patch number will be 9 (If you upped it, it must have been to 10 yes?)

To 10, yes. When I have more time, I'll bump it down to 9 and do some more extensive testing, since I've only been able to do it sporadically for most of today, and the save games I made with it at 9 aren't 'real' in terms of my gameplay.

I tried the above and it freezes on me as well. Everything seems to work fine until I go to the BE, and then it freezes on the load screen there.

Freezes on entering it after choosing companions, correct?

I appreciate all your testing. You're far more patient than I.

As for the save being locked, I suppose this isn't a huge problem if I just want to test my mods out and I don't mind "throwing away" the saves.

So I was able to get the Black Emporium and mods working without issues (SO FAR). I had to do a bit of chicanery to do it, though.

When I first attempted to play DAI with mods after merging them with the fresh new ModManager V.50, it CTD - wouldn't even open the game, actually. Figuring I had corrupted files, I removed the mods completely, put my copy of P7 files into the Update folder, and did a full Repair, which took a while.

After that, I put the patched folder in as 'Patch' and did NOT leave the vanilla folder in. I also incremented the version of the package.mft in the modded Patch folder by one. After that, I was able to see my mods, use the Black Emporium and the mirror, and craft, all without issue. However, I didn't get to play a lot.

I think repairing the files might be key before using mods with the BE installed.

One thing I DID note was that the modded hair did NOT show up in the BE CC. However, I only had a female Qunari of the four origins with hair mods who have gotten to Skyhold, so I can't verify with any elves or female humans. Can someone else verify this?

I've tried ur method but it still freezes for me when i try to go there and has a black screen

That seems to be a common report (black screen upon entering BE).

I wonder if which version of the DAI Mod Manager is used makes a difference. When I am able (in an hour or two) I'll test it using three different Mod Manager-created patch folders and see what happens. Once I'm done with that, I'll report back.

Also, Adela and denise12184, do you have the Jaws of Hakkon DLC? I do not, and I wonder if that's a factor in all this.

no i havent installed it since the day it came out lol

But just spoke to dan about it and it seems that it might be tied to DAIModdingtool if we update the mods from the dai modding tool and then  try to merge it with the new mod manager it should work

but for now Dan is still trying to figure out how to fix it

Let me know if Dan wants me to test anything further on my side. I've been fiddling with it already a little bit, but I'm more a tester than a coder (if that wasn't obvious). I'd be ready and willing to help him if I can, though! Thanks for your help!

I do have the JoH dlc installed. I also remember I was getting the same type of freeze back during the beta and it seemed to have something to do with Shantia's qunari texture mods. I don't want to point the finger at specific mods or anything, but removing just those mods got the beta working. I haven't had a chance to see if that might make a difference this time.

You mentioned the modded hair not showing, so I thought I'd ask (since that was the main reason I wanted BE to begin with) is it possible to pick whatever base hair the mod is made from and then have it show up outside the BE?

I was messing around with the Black Emporium earlier, testing things out just a few mods at a time to see what happened.

I got the Emporium and Mirror to actually load by removing a few Inquisitor face textures and other character-creator related things, so it might just be a matter of individual mods causing things to freeze up. Possibly?

Okay, I think I figured this out...

Look in your Patch_ModManagerMerge folder and there should be a “DataWin32” folder. Move those files to “Patch_ModManagerMerge/Data/Win32” and the DLC should work. That stopped the crash for me, at least :)

Gave this one a shot, no luck. Thanks for the help, though!

Try this, I think it will fix the problem:

The new Mod Manager takes the problematic files that were killing the previous ModManager and puts them into a folder called ‘DataWin32′ in the newly made Patch folder. To restore those DLC files, follow these steps:

  • Navigate to the newly made patch folder the new Mod Manager made. You will see three items: Data, DataWin32, and package.mft
  • Open DataWin32
  • Select all the ‘dlc1′ items as in the screenshot below
  • Copy all the items
  • Go back up to the Patch root and then navigate to Data/Win32
  • Paste all the items into Data/Win32
  • Launch the game and check to see if you crash when going to Frostback Basin
  • NOTE: This DOES NOT make mods that were previously incompatible with Jaws of Hakkon compatible. If you are using those mods that caused Jaws of Hakkon to not work, Jaws of Hakkon STILL will not work. In that case, you'd have to remove those mods every time you go to Frostback Basin

Also no luck with this one. I suspect my mods must be incompatible with JoH. Thank you for your help, though!

I think I'll just yank my mods for now - could be that the BE is confounding my issues now that I've put that in. Might be able to figure out a workaround sometime.

EDIT: Actually, I retried Leista's suggestion after re-merging my mods, and it's worked! No crashing at the Frostback Basin, and no issues with the BE either. Many thanks! I hope this can help others too.

Alright, so it seems that u guys are right, some mods do cause the game to crash at the BE Shantia's mod is one of them unfortunately but its only the complexions  so if u tick those off (not the eyebrows but the complexions) in the MM it should work fine

Other old mods for now I suggest u guys have a back up of ur patch 6 so u can repatch the old mods to work with the new modmanager until Dan fixes the old Modding tool

So I'd like to report that so far I've had no crashes and both the BE and JoH seemed to be working properly. Used the Mirror of Transformation successfully and had a nice chat with Kenric before running around the Frostback Basin for a bit.

I have all DLC downloaded, including the Dragonslayer multiplayer and deluxe edition rewards.

Steps I'd taken:

Converted some old mods into .daimod format using patch 5 as a base with v1.26 of Eham's modding tool

Downloaded patch 7 + repaired Origin

Used the fixed version of v50 mod manager available on the other modding forum (so that the initial JoH workaround wasn't necessary)

I DO have Shantia's eyebrows and face textures, including the Qunari ones, and did not seem to get any weird freezing.

I did NOT have any configurable mods active aside from More Fade-Touched, but I will be testing the other configurable mods shortly.

There has been a fix for the hakon dlc so the mods should work with that, here is the link :

So since mine works, here are some things about my mods:

I *do* have a complexion mod, the one with freckles and skulls.

I *do* have all the hair mods that I am aware of (7, iirc)

I do *not* have any configurable mods - I took those out when Patch 6 had issues with them and never added them back.

I do *not* have Eham's inventory mod.

I do *not* have the Jaws of Hakkon DLC.

I do *not* have Shantia's mods. I kept meaning to try them and never got around to it. *cough*

Is there a tutorial on how to convert the mods? I'd like to start converting mine, though I don't have many, but I couldn't find a tutorial. I'm sure it's simple, but I haven't been able to figure it out.

Hmm, I did the repair with Origin and I don't have any configurable mods, either. I completely removed the couple of old mods I have, because I'm not sure how to convert them to daimod format, and I'm still having the freezing issue. I'm not sure what's going on, though I'd love to be able to keep her textures.

Basically I just opened up the .mft file of whichever mod I wanted to convert in the mod tool, waited until it loaded successfully, then did a Save As... so that it saved as a .daimod. I...don't know if that's actually the proper way to do it, but mods like Darker Leather Pads and Darker Leather Trousers showed up properly in my game.

Thank you so much, Adela.

Unrelated: fwiw I disabled a face texture mod (Inquisitor specific) and Emporium loaded for me okay. I had the black screen of doom otherwise.

I finally got the BE to stop freezing on the black loading screen.

As Adela pointed out it was cosmetic mods that were causing the issue. Shantia's face texture mods. But I'm still able to use her eyebrow mod, as well as the smooth hair texture mod by Skaramoosh and HD eyes

Just to clarify, once the manager has been run we should have two folders, the original patch and the Patch_ModManager and we are not moving/replacing files or removing original patch, correct?

I'm running into black screens of death when trying to load my latest save which is post JoH but I can load previous saves before entering the DLC. I'm going to remove Shantia's mod and see if that resolves any issues.

Yes, that's one of the one's I use, too!

Yes, there will be two folders, original and patched. You shouldn't need to do anything after that. Some people have done so (like me) for testing purposes only, but it shouldn't be necessary for the mods &c to actually work.

Let us know if removing that mod helps! You're not the only one with that issue.
