Just created a female dwarf to test this out (I never want to do the prologue again I've done it so many times omg). Went to the BE with just the hair mod installed and was able to load it up fine and edit her. Back to the drawing board it seems. @ _ @

 

Or it just means that the dwarven lady 'beards' are handled more like scalps than like beards themselves, which would make sense, honestly.

 

If so, we might be on to something if it relates to an extra mesh placed on the head. I checked the resource files on the game, and the beards are in the same area of the resource files as the hair is. If the beards aren't updated with the Smooth Hair texture mod, but the hair meshes *are*, then maybe the fact that hair and beards don't *both* have updated meshes might be causing the hangup?

Yeah I actually considered that after I posted it lol. The beards are really just stubble so the explanation is still plausible. I'll do more scavenging/moving around of files and testing to see what other results I can come up with.

Ok so I found out which of my mod causes crash using patch 7: MoreFadeTouched.

It crashes JoH with version 0.50/0.51/0,52

Tested on 2 different computers using a human/qunari female mage and a dwarf male warrior.

 

I tested more LootFlex configurable and non configurable version. I only got issue using Extreme version. I will leave comment for both mods.

 

The rest of the mods work with version 0.52. Thanks again for the hard work on MM :)

 

Watch the clock [9.38am]. Yea .. Passed the night on it... But now I go to bed relieved XD

I've released the Mod Manager v0.52: https://drive.google...iew?usp=sharing

 

This version generates the patch.daimod I posted above, so it should fix the JoH weapon crashes.

Tested with these mods:

and the character that has been to Frostback Basin:

* The crafting weapons menu works fine, I can select Jaws of Hakkon schematics and craft the corresponding weapon without problems (I coudn't with version 5.1)

* I can modify JoH weapons (adding a rune) without problems

* Frostback Basin is available on the map, I can travel there and go back to Skyhold wihtout problems (I couldn't with version 5.1)

* I can go to the Black Emporium and use the mirror without problems (I could do this with version 5.0, too)

 

So, it seems that version 0.52 works as intended :)

Joyce, that's what I do:

 

If I already have a modded patch:

* Delete the Patch folder from the Update folder

* Copy the vanilla Patch 7 to the Update folder (if you don't have a backup copy, then just "repair" the game from Origins)

* Delete the Patch.daimod file from the ModManager folder. so it will scan again the vanilla patch

 

Then:

* Launch the tool and press Merge. It creates a new folder under the Update folder called "Patch_ModManagerMerge"

* Close the ModManager

* Delete the Patch folder under the Update folder (i.e. delete the vanilla 7 patch)

* Rename the "Patch_ModManagerMerge" to Patch

 

That's it. Hope this helps :)

You shouldn't need to do this with the latest version. You can leave both the (vanilla) patch folder and the Patch_ModManagerMerge folder in the update folder.

does anyone else experience a glitch during the first mission when you're supposed to re-discover the temple of sacred ashes? It won't trigger for me, so I can't go forward. It continue to say that I'm supposed to seal the rift, but I'm past that point? :/

Glad to hear that WV finally got a new computer lol.  I believe his last couldn't really handle DAI.  Also glad to see he had sometime to make a nice little video.  But dll injection...holy cow...the possibilities....

 

I knew he'd come back with a bang ^^

How did you do it when you merged? Whenever I try to play with mods, my game won't start :S

 

You may have done that but did you try:

- Repairing the game

- Re-installing the game

 

Before merging, try to get MM version 0.50 and replace with files version 0.52 (the zip only contains 2 files). then try to merge that.

 

and if it start but fail to load save:

- Try another of your save

- Try someone else save

 

All that worked for me when I could not start the game at all anymore (crash on first loading screen)

 

I can help you more later tonight. Busy for now. Hope any of these steps helps you :)

You shouldn't need to do this with the latest version. You can leave both the (vanilla) patch folder and the Patch_ModManagerMerge folder in the update folder.

For what it's worth, in case anyone was curious, the DAI Hair Recolor utility works with the BE. I was able to use it to change hair color in the mirror.

Does anyone have the difficulty mod that makes enemies auto-scale to your level? Wondering if it'd work in JoH though I somehow doubt it.

 

Edit: Well I just got JoH (with the added discount, woo!) so I guess I'll test for myself soon enough! Do I need to remake the merged patch once JoH finishes downloading or can I just use the merged patch I already had? (made with v52).

so i downloaded the v52 MM a couple pages back.. and it doesnt ever end up starting?? i double click to open it within its own folder (with other content from the download) and... nothing. maybe a loading mouse for a few seconds but then it goes away and nothin happens... i tried as admin too, no avail. did i miss something?? i have no other MM's downloaded for DAI besides that one..

does anyone else experience a glitch during the first mission when you're supposed to re-discover the temple of sacred ashes? It won't trigger for me, so I can't go forward. It continue to say that I'm supposed to seal the rift, but I'm past that point? :/

 

This happened to me once. I believe it is just a random occurrence with some mods. If you walk back towards the last quest marker and wait a few seconds the temple quest marker should activate and you should be able to proceed.

Ok, the new mod manager fixed all my JoH issues. YAY!

 

Discovered one more thing....tried to claim a camp in Emprise du Lion and once the cinematic pops to cue the tents and soldiers the characters all freeze in place with their arms sticking out. Music plays, sounds play, dialogue happens....but cannot move. Without claiming that camp you can't progress further into that area.

So far the auto-scale mod seems to be working in JoH without issues. I don't know what level the enemies are supposed to be around the camp you arrive in, but they were 24 once I arrived (my char's level) and went to level 25 when I leveled up. I've had no crashes so far.

Have you waited (up to a minute at least) for this to solve itself? This happened to me for a while but the game would eventually get going again. It was being caused by either dark leather pads or trousers (can't remember which) and when I took it out of my merge it stopped happening.

 

I'm not saying this mod in particular causes problems or anything just that if you try introducing your mods in small batches you should find the problem one and then either stop using it or try re-downloading it because it may have been corrupted.

This is a problem with complexion mods. We're still narrowing down WHICH exact modified textures cause the issue, but my guess is that you use a mod that modifies face complexions. Try taking that mod out and see if the BE loads. Or, the Smooth Hair and any bearded Inquisitor will also see black loading screens for BE (either going in or at the mirror).

Yes, I was using the trousers mod, and it was much, much worse when I tried to convert to .daimod. In a distributable format, it just seems to cause intermittent glitchs, both in JoH and in vanilla. Hard to track down exactly why so far.
