Is anyone else having trouble in BE with mods installed? A quick summary...

Before, everything seemed to work except for anything in BE. I couldn't use the schematics or weapons because once I opened one of them, and the initial screen popped up, as soon as I clicked on anything, it locked up the game and I had to force close.

Since I first had problems, I deleted the Patch_ModManagerMerge folder, then deleted the Patch folder and ran a repair to get a clean copy of the game. Using the MM 0.51, I tried again. Nothing in BE worked due to the same problem. MM 0.52 fixed the mirror...I can open it and change my character's appearance without any trouble. However, if I go to schematics or weapons or the other one, I have the same problem - it comes up, but as soon as I click on anything on the screen, it locks up the game.

I saw someone mention problems with configurable mods in an earlier post, so I did another merge without them and that didn't fix it either. Other stores in the game work fine (I've tested them and even gone to the undercroft and can craft down there as well), it's just BE that's giving me fits. Anyone else having that problem or have any ideas other than not playing a modded game?

What about older saves of Ja'ali? Are they all the same build #, or only the recent saves?

Also, have you tried using the save editor to change something minor (like change his eyebrow color) and see if that will update the build number?

Gah, such a weird problem!

I only have 2 saves on Ja'ali and 2 auto saves - they all on same build.

Jabarias save is also on same build - on her id have to back down to 20hrs played - So that would be sort of when she came to Skyhold, that save file i can load... But thats WAY back in her game..

Ill try edit something and see what happens ^^

Edit.

Ok i replaced a few files now that i took backup for before we was going to get patch 7.

I can now load Ja'ali - But Jabaria is still not loading! - So odd. Going to see if i can edit her savefiles.

Edit 2.

Ok, Jabaria's saves was on same build, but patch 8. So after editing the package file she is now also loading. Gosh this was some issue. Iam glad iam stubborn!

I will now stay with these mods etc for abit, dont wanna lose my chars again!

This sure wouldnt be possible to figure out if wasnt for das_editor! /phew!

So just to clarify the problem: everything works EXCEPT the stations where you purchase schematics and materials in the Black Emporium, yes? You can craft no problem, but you can't actually click-to-buy anywhere in the Emporium?

Exactly.

I figured it out, or rather used someone else's solution from several pages back. By copying all of the "itemappearances" files from the Patch folder into the Patch_ModManagerMerge folder, I no longer have the problem. Once I leave BE and go back to Skyhold (or anywhere else), I can save and quit, then copy the original merged "itemappearances" files back into the merged patch folder and it works fine again.

I'm wondering if it's one of the LL materials files I'm using. I noticed other people have it working with LL materials, but I had a mix of the fixed materials and some from the LL Inquisitor uniform mod (but not the whole mod, just the materials). I may play around with it some more and see if I can narrow it down more to figure out which file is causing the trouble with it. If I find it, I'll let you guys know, in case someone else has a similar issue.

I use the LL mods as well but have not had any issues... yet. Kind of wondering if I should remove them, just in case.

I use LapisLazzuli's Materials mods with a mix of materials from the main LL Crafting Material Fixes  mod, the LL Inquisitor's uniform mod, and Fabric Fixes mod by appleschnapple.  I haven't noticed any problem with them.  There is an issue with the skyhold clothing from the LL armor crafting mod but the rest of that mod works beautifully.  I am on patch 7, mod manager 0.52, I have the digital deluxe with Black Emporium and  just downloaded the Jaws of Hakkon (25% off at Origin)

Hmm, interesting, because I thought that's what Mod Manager v0.52 literally should be doing automatically.

I'd recommend rerunning MM v52 against a fresh Patch 7 and this time click 'force rescan of patch' - see if that enables you to run the mods without doing that manual step each time you want to add/remove a mod.

Alright with the latest manager and removing more fadetouch it 100% works, but there's only one drawback. When patch 6 (I think) hit my eye mod made the loading times ridiculously long, which I fixed promptly. It seems that same thing is happening to someone else's mod, I'm just not entirely sure who. I'll try to do a little research tomorrow.

Please add a comment to the "more Fade Touched" mod page for the creator of it. He does not believe me when I say his mod crashes JoH and he needs to look into it and update >.<

Honestly, I amazed any outdated mods work at all with the game.  Mainly because of how the merged patch works at rebuilding the update folder.  If certain conditions don't match up insatiability can occur just from that.

It's extremely essential to have multiple backups of saves when testing mods.  I had the same issue as Mintsong, but I was testing one mod at a time.  As soon as I removed that specific mod, everything loaded properly.  Its been said that if you have a large mod collection, to not alter it at all during your play through.  The larger the mod list, the harder it is to troubleshoot conflicts.

If a mod is created with a newer version of the daitools, older saves that use this will be stamped as if they had the same version.  Especially if you forget to restore your original update folder, and create a merged patch with a "modified" update folder.

*cough*

*looks at 60+ mods list she changes constantly*

Right, best practice, you said? I'll get right on that...

Seriously, though, I have constant backups running of my save games, so I admit I'm a little less worried about corrupted saves than most. Of course, I have Patches 5-7 copies on my computer and my last 4-5 merged patch folder as well, because I'm doing a lot of switching back and forth between game/P7 and Modding Tools/P6. Plus all the testing of mods I do myself...

I'll admit I'm a special case though. Very special. I have a lovely jacket with very long arms, in fact.

Lol no that just means your very dedicated lol

Hey guys, do you know why when entering the BE mirror, the game turns completely black? it appears it only happens when I have a tattoo mod installed. Any ideas?

The new tool is not up yet, might be tonight but we'll see if its still buggy, last time i tried it  the meshes weren't there  but it could scan all the dlc's  so im gonna talk to Dan tonight when he gets home from work  and see if its good for release.

As for the hair... well its kinda done but im not too happy with how it looks so instead i decided to make something with bangs and braids and a pony tail.

but here is how it looks so far...

Spoiler

Ok, good to know :) thank you :D

I think the hair looks great :) but it would look cooler with braids and ponytail!!! :D it's you who'll be doing the work, so do what feels best for you :) but I still think the bangs looks awsome :)

@Tklivory - My above post was not directed at anyone in particular.  You may not be having this issue, but I see thousands of posts that say they are having these very issues.  I've been a mod creator myself for many years, and a mod user for more.  It was just my humble advice to those who have not as much experience.

What I said above is pretty much the bread and butter of modding for essentially every single game.  We are lucky that mod makers don't have to update every single patch; but that doesn't mean they shouldn't.  In most games, if a mod isn't updated to keep up with the game updates...it simply won't work at all.  The only way around it was to not update your game or learn how to update it yourself.

The only exceptions to these are texture/mesh replacers.  We don't have the leisure of a simple override folder that the game loads from anymore. (like DAO did).

It looks impressive but I don't know what this means... I tried googling ProtoSSL but I'm even more confused now

Anyone care to explain to me (the spaz) what's going on here?

It shows network informations
It cant access the content yet, but the state and how many bytes were send and it creates a log file

Witch will be very useful to us in the long run with the whole patch problem also he manage to decrypt  the DLC's mft so its readable now instead of gibberish

Alright  guys time for a bit of testing, I talked to Dan last night and we worked on the moddingtool v1.31, and we found some issues (at least on my part) so we wanted ppl to test the tool and report back to us so we can pin point the problem and hopefully fix it.

Here are the issues that i had:

  • The tool works with  patch 7 and works for scanning  but it appears that it crashes when u have the MP folders in, the other Dlc's seem fine
  • If you don't have the  MP folders in your updates folder   the tool will finish scanning without crashing.
  • At 1st u won't see  the Data tree on the left, however, it does create a cache file  so if u restart the tool again it should read ur cache  and then u will actually get to see the Data tree on the left and u can then do ur usual stuff like import and export

If u have any of these issues or other issues please let us know. The tool is not available in the launcher yet, we are still trying to fix it before we put it up there. so here is the link :http://www.mediafire... 1.31 Alpha.zip

PS forgot to mention that the files in the download link don't need to be put  in any other folder of the previous ModdingTool  it should work fine on it own.  Also now It actually asks u for the DAI.exe  so u don't need to have a ini file either

So far, so good. Having some trouble with finding where to change the halamshiral texture, but nothing with the tool :D
