so i made a face texture for my human female today and it worked at first, but i didn't like how it looked so i went back and changed the maps again...
normal and spec seem to be working, but now any kind of diffuse i upload (i even tried using my male's diffuse map to see if it was my saving the files wrong) doesn't show... at all... but the spec and normal map do (i can see her eyebrows reflecting? the ones that should b there). i tried starting a new game to see if it was the save but its the same there too
im using the most recent tools and mod manager. any ideas? :/

No, they modify different textures see this post.
Only one of them comes with eyebrows though so maybe that's why you're only noticing one in the mirror.
Although if you've really loaded Complexion 01 (alters 3rd complexion, has painted on eyebrows) then I'm surprised you can get the mirror to load at all. It usually crashes the game.

I finished sculpting face detail on a DAI head mesh today based on a few pics of a male model. I plan to hand paint the textures but I wanted to see what it might look like and to see if I got the shapes right so I slapped on a quick photo texture using spotlight.

Texture 01 modifies the 1st complexion, has no painted on eyebrows. Complexion 01 modifies complexions 2 and 3, has painted on eyebrows

This is a known issue, and has to do with the way the Black Emporium renders hair. Once you leave the Black Emporium, the hair mods will display correctly again, even if you change hairstyles using the Mirror. It is only in the Black Emporium itself that the hair won't display correctly. Currently, there is no known solution.

Also I'm pretty sure the latest mod that adds really long hair for female humans also causes crashes when using certain races/genders because it adds a variation of the realistic/shiny hair mod (I had a suspicion so I tested it and game crashed with my qunari male as expected in BE).

Is it going to have the stubble painted on?
I hope to do two versions with stubble and without. I was only using this guy as a reference for face shape but I wanted to see what my sculpt looked like with a texture and used the pic. Zbrush has a really cool tool for this.
Anyway sad story is that I lost a whole days work yesterday because I screwed up the UVs right in the beginning of modelling. I can recreate the work but I was too pissed off to work on it today. ![]()

For those having trouble with Qunari and BE, try making a blank modding patch (ie, use mod manager but disable all mods except the Official Patch) to use when you want to go to the Black Emporium. See if that at least lets you load the game.

At this point in time, the tools are very limited. Unlike Skyrim, whose dev tools were released by Bethesda to modders which could manipulate most every part of the game, the tools for DAI are made by coders after a lot of hard work and without any help from EA or Bioware. Though they've managed to do a lot, there are still quite a few things out of reach, and new assets and asset recombinations are among them.
New areas/quests were possible in DAO because all of the assets were accessible through the Bioware released toolkit. No new areas/quests were possible in DA2 because no such toolkit was released, and the same will likely be true for DAI.
