Just a few, if you’re using photoshop and want to attempt to paint your own textures, or even if you don't, set both the width/height and the DPI/Resolution for your texture very high, it’ll preserve most of the quality of the texture should you try to resize and warp it to fit the skyhold jammy texture later. Also make sure whenever you’re resizing stuff to set interpolation to bicubic sharper to keep the texture crisper. Also abuse the convert to smart object feature if you have a more up-to-date version of photoshop. It allows you to resize layers without actually altering the original image, so say you had a texture/image you want to fit to where the inquisitors arm would be on the texture if you convert the layer that image is on to a smart object you can resize and warp that layer to your hearts content without actually changing the original image or losing any of the quality of the original image. Handy for images/textures with fine details.

Whenever I’m painting textures for character models I typically have it set at 4096x4096 at 300 DPI which is admittedly a bit OTT but you can worry about optimising your texture once you’ve actually got it to a point where you’re happy with it.

Ahhh, all the stuff I want to learn and don't have the time to.  :crying: I'm so grateful for our modders. *big hugs*  <3

It’s sad that so many modders are getting hate/demands lately over some/all of their mods. Makes me wonder if the majority of people who use mods understand that for the majority of us modders it’s simply a hobby and not the be all and end all.

Well, that's not new. At least it is not new with popular modable games like Bethesda's Oblivion, Fallout and Skyrim. And things are even worse on Steam ... :(

You need to learn to ignore those stupid comments and only take care of the lots of nice people out there (they are, and luckily they are the majority of mod users) and mod only what you want and because you want it.

But it is true that it is not easy. I've seen some modders giving up since the days of Oblivion for the same reasons ... it is a pity :(

Oh I know this isn't a new problem, I've been modding on and off for years when times allows, I just don’t get what those type of people hope to achieve. If you don’t like a mod just don’t use it. Certain mods like ones that changes a characters race or sexuality I can understand modders getting hate over, I don’t agree with that by any stretch of the imagination but I can sort of understand where that hate and anger comes from given how touchy a subject race and sexual identity are for some people but when a modder receives hate for a purely cosmetic mod it just boggles my mind.

Does anyone have an idea on what hairstyle would be good for a first try? I've tried so many different things, but I just can't seem to get it right :( any suggestions? I have something like this in mind, but an easier way to do it :(

To get something like that I'd try with either "Hair db (mh_xx_db_model_mesh)" or "Hair m" (mh_xx_m_model_mesh) :)

Do you think you could send me that one? Cause for some reason, my modding tool won't open :(

I've uploaded them into a 7z zip file here: http://www.mediafire...irs_Joyce_HF.7z

I've only exported those hairs for human female. If you want another race/gender, let me know ;)

And no, no experience with Renderosity at all.

Yeah if you go to members-my account it should have a list of all of your orders, click on one of them and the zip files for the things you’ve bought should be on there. Your first purchase can sometimes take a little while to go through their systems so if your zip files aren’t there give it an hour or so and they should appear.

I think I have those textures so I’ll have a look at them and get back to you. As those are textures for a poser dress model the textures are laid out very differently to how they are in games so to achieve that look in the images on the skyhold jammies you need to do a lot of editing and combining of the different maps. You will also have to do a fair bit of editing to these textures because you're aren't really allowed to use these types of textures as they're not roytalty free to the best of my knowledge. You should be fine with using it for modding as you're not profiting from it but in future it would be best for you to use textures from the merchant resources section under the 2D section as they are all royalty free.

ah ok :) yes, I figured that I had to do a lot of editing. That's what I didn't thought of in the beginning ^^

Just looked at them, basically the best thing for you to do is pull elements from the desired textures and edit them so they fit the skyhold jammies. The main body of the blue dress is found in RFPdress_rpd04, I think all of the textures to do with the blue version end with rpd04. If you have an up-to-date version of photoshop it may help to fiddle around with the 3D object import function, you can import the meshes for the jammies and apply your textures to it to get an idea of how it will look in-game.

I didn't know you could have 3d objects in PhotoShop (if that's what you mean). Even so, my modding tool won't let me export meshes :(

Strange I assume you’ve uninstalled any outdated versions of the mod tool? I think I have the models lying around somewhere on my PC, I'll try and send them to you tomorrow when I get a chance.

On the import 3D function I think CS5+ has it,  it’s a handy feature to be able to paint onto a 3D model and edit textures entirely in photoshop but there are other programs specifically designed to do that job like Zbrush and 3DCoat that do it a lot better because you can also create your normal maps at the same time whereas you have to use various plugins to do it in photoshop.

any idea what LOD level you were trying to export, or do black boxes show up for everything?

in 3ds I use LOD 0. And in Photoshop they didn't show up at all :( btw, I think I will need help with re-texturing the pants, since I've never done the pants before ^^"

Edit; I'm a little frustrated, since the thing that caught my attention with the clothing was that the necklace she was wearing had the same shape as the collar on the PJ, but it wasn't in the textures :(

Edit 2: Nevermind, found it ^^ but I was wondering if anyone can help me creating a realistic skin texture?

Edit 3: Is it less blurry now that I've got better textures? (and no, the skin isn't supposed to be red :P )

She is still on Tumblr under a new URL. However, having said that, she did delete all her mods, citing harassment and negative reaction as the main reason. I'm not sure if she deleted her tutorials, so perhaps you could find those still at her blog. (I kept a copy of her hair mod tutorial myself, for when I have enough free time to actually do something with it.)

She has pulled back sharply from the fandom, though recently has shown signs of at least playing with her main Inquisitor again. I highly doubt she'll ever release her mods publicly again, but at least she's back to enjoying the game itself, for which I'm glad.

I wondered where her mods had gone! It sucks that she got harrassed. Some players have this stupid sense of entitlement when it comes to mods, which are FREE. Wankers. If a player likes a mod they should give positive feedback; if they don't like the mod, they shouldn't download it. All you mod creaters are creative geniuses IMO, thank you for your work.

Yes!! :D I have finally figured out how to add the colors correctly in spec and tint :D it came out great in the first try :D

Edit; tried another one, I'm very happy for once and excited to see how this looks in the game (my Quizzy is too much of a bad-a** to have beige PJ :P )
