Can anyone send me the 52 hair for female elves? My modding tool won't open ![]()

Here's a link to a file you can download that has all the .obj files for PC hair meshes.
That reminds me, I need to upload all the NPC hair meshes... *adds to list*

Btw, since my tool won't open, is anyone interested in becoming my tester in the hair?
Testing in game? I am up for it, if you still need someone. ![]()

Yup, and importing it as well (once I'm finished) just to see if it looks good
I can't do it myself, since my tool won't open, sadly ![]()
I have the alpha tool working (v131)...umm, does that work for meshes as well? I can try either way, just let me know the direct path, because I am a complete modding tool noob. I did manage to do a personal retex of Hornography's HF outfit on nexus though, in a deep plum (my fave color!). ![]()
If I ramble, I am heavily medicated due to about eleventy billion health issues I have.
I always try to apologize in advance in case, lol. (The meds are another reason i don't post a whole lot anywhere, I read crap wrong alot etc, and mean no offense when I mess up...blah, rambling! >< )

That tool open for me too, but it's the earlier one that import meshes right, and that's the one I can't open ![]()
Hehe, it's ok
am a med-addict myself, so I ramble too ![]()
Hmm, well, I haven't tried to do the older versions, but I have like 4 or so meds in my system atm, and it may be a bad idea to try for that till later, lol.
thanks for understanding, it's hard for me to decide whether to try and help or not due to that. ![]()
Just a quick question; will this look wierd in the game?

Haven't personally done anything with hair meshes etc, but there looks to be some gaps in the hair to me. ![]()

I'd say that you'll see the scalp throgh the hair, the hair will clip with the soulders and also some of the bangs clip into other bangs. Maybe some face normals are reversed, too, but it is difficult to say in this picture. Use the texture view if 3ds has it to check that, too ![]()

I'm not finished
but I wanted to see if it looked like I was headed in the right direction ![]()
Btw, is there a way to import your own face-texture without it having an effect on other characters? My previous one had effect on many NPCs, such as Fiona, Lord Seeker, Queen Anora, Florianne... and I don't want that xD

I didn't mention it before, but I love the length and potential look of that hair there Joyce. You can PM me or whatever if you need a tester. I haven't been able to get the older modding tool working yet, but I'll keep trying as I can.

Joyce, I said everything as a constructive criticismm trying to help you. I really think that it will be easier if you begin almost bang by bang and with the body in place to avoid clipping than beginning by stretching all the hair and then trying to fix it. But that's what works better for me and maybe for you it works better the other way round ![]()
Ah bugger, I finally found some time to fiddle around with the mod tools and mesh editing only to find the mesh import feature in the current alpha of the mod tool is bugged and I can’t seem to get any of the other versions working so I guess I have little choice but to wait for the next release, is there any current ETA on when it’s coming out?

No eta yet Dawn is working on fixing a lot of bugs atm, so it might be a while before she releases it. Last time I tested it, it still had issues with EBX's and still had some issues with importing

I wonder why my 1.27 still works when most other people's doesn't? Odd. You're using Patch 6 with 1.27, right? What does your daimoddingtool.ini look like?
Or better yet you can help me mod stubble!(good lord i extracted the texture and i have no idea where to even begin but dammit the game needs better stubble)
Ah that could be it, forgot about the patch level. Also sure I’d be happy to help out with your stuff.

Honestly, I really don't know where to begin. The texture assets aren't what I'm used to in my (very) limited experience with texture modding, which is usually tweaking existing mods and customizing them for my games. This is... a whole 'nother ball of wax. It's just 3 files (one set for qunari, one set for dwarf/human) _stubble_b/m/n, and... quite frankly, i don't know where to start.
Here are what the files look like:
stubble_b:

stubble m:

I mean, I see what they are, but I have no idea what to manipulate or how to manipulate them. I assume the makeup files are similar, but I've never tried to change those either. I thought it'd be more like beards, but newp. So *shrug* any pointers would be very helpful.
I can only surmise that each color represents a specific place on the slider for beards. But how to make them look more realistic/fuller? o.O How do i texturize da colors!
Hmm stubble_b looks like it’s a mask file of sorts, it’s masking off parts of the head where the stubble_m texture should be placed.
To make a new texture for stubble you should focus on stubble_m. This texture seems to follow similar principles to tint maps, different types of stubble are on different channels. The colours you’re seeing are where the different channels overlay each other.

Right, and one of the first experiments I'm doing is seeing if I can extend parts of the mask. The issue is how can I use the m to make the stubble look better? The big problem is that the stubble doesn't look realistic. I mean you can see the damn pores on the skin textures, but the hairs in the stubble look like they were drawn on with a crayon. I can figure out how to get the different channels separated to work on them individually, but how do i make those channels actually look like real stubble? That's my real quandary. I mean, it's not like i can go find a high resolution image to put over it and manipulate, you know?
Unfortunately maps like this have to be hand painted, hence why they normally end up looking a bit naff. You could try getting a high res image and try and paint over the stubble but that would probably end up looking similar to what we have now. You could also have a look at other 3D models that have more realistic looking stubble and see how they've done it.
