People have now idea how excruciatingly difficult it is to make a hair mod. Because of limitations of the tool, (the hair mesh import will only work with the same number of vertices and in the same order) the modder basically has to do it hair strand by hair strand, for each gender / race.

Imagine having to do a hairdo by moving each single hair. Hair modding on DAI is not at all like making new pj mods. It's not like making another texture, it is like painting the Sistine Chapel on a grain of rice. Painful, frustrating and a lot of hard work. To have done that and then get grief for not doing for all the other gender races is hurtful and frustrating.

Please be nice and kind to modders, particularly hair modders. Even if you have modded DAI yourself, I guarantee you that you have not gone through the amount of work they have. It's brutal. They deserve a lot of admiration for their hard work.

Hey Skara! You are an amazing modder and I was just wondering if you could help me making a hairstyle? I would try myself, but since I have the latest 3ds, it won't export the mesh like it should when I'm finished :( I'm willing to pay you :) of course I understand if you say no, but there's no harm in asking :)

If you just need someone to export the hair from Max 2012, I can do it and you don't have to pay me :D

Alright, I'll just fix the last of it :)

Edit; oh, and would you mind testing it in the game as well and tell me what needs to be done to make it better? Instead of sending it back and forth, I mean :P

Sure but I'm not an expert modeller so I can only really point out obvious flaws and probably won't always know how to fix them :)

Haha, you're welcome! I missed this comment earlier... and thanks for compliment!

If you use them on any of your quizzies and take pics, I'd love to see them. I've set permissions to off on the Nexus page to encourage people to upload pics on all (hah! "all" - four) of my mods on the Nexus. Here's hoping people bite :D

I will. I really hope it'll work this time. The eyebrows that you did will fit perfectly with it :) I've uploaded a pic of Raven on the mod page :)

It's super late here but I forgot to say I uploaded the face texture I was using in my eyebrow mod.

Thanks to Shantia for making the original texture.

This is very difficult, but after several weeks of trials and errors, I'm finally getting somewhere :D

Edit: The bangs are almost done :D

Edit 2; I'm a little unsure, to be honest... I don't think this will look good in the game :( Anyone got any advice?

Just import into the game and see how it looks so far. Take pics in the CC for reference. Makes easier to see where you need to make adjustments.

Well.. that's my advice how I been doing it so far  :)

I can't, that's the problem :( I have the 2015 version of 3ds, and it's causing export problems :( mrjack has promised to help me once it's done, though :) and I welcome anyone wanting to help and see if I can improve it :)

you should apply the texture to get more of an idea what it will look like.

how do I do that? Do I have to extract the textures from the modding tool and how do I apply them on an obj? (I have just woken up, so I can't think properly xD)

Yes you have to extract them. They are in da3 > actors > baseheads > hair > textures. I don't know what model you're working on so I don't know which texture applies. Try them all and see what matches. To set alpha transparency add a new texture and use colour correction modifier and switch all channels to alpha, then link to transparency.

If none of that makes sense because you are not comfortable working in the materials editor, then I can take you through it step by step but I don't have time right now to write out a full tutorial.

Maybe someone else here can help?

I'm actually quite comfortable working in Photoshop, but I still don't understand how to add the texture in 3ds. It won't let me :(

Press M to access the materials editor then click the eyedropper tool  below the menu bar to pick material from object and then click on your mesh.

Like I said. I can't really take you through it right now - I have a friend staying with me but either someone else can help or if you can wait a few days, I'll do a step-by-step with images.

I've tried that, but it won't be added to the mesh :( but I can wait, no worries :)

I figured out how to add texture to the mesh, but this is how it looks like in 3ds? Does this mean it'll look like this in the game as well?
