I can't, that's the problem :( I have the 2015 version of 3ds, and it's causing export problems :( mrjack has promised to help me once it's done, though :) and I welcome anyone wanting to help and see if I can improve it :)

 

Ah sorry! I didn't know about your situation. Your version of 3DS max doesn't allow you to export?

I figured out how to add texture to the mesh, but this is how it looks like in 3ds? Does this mean it'll look like this in the game as well?

No, it won't look like that in-game as far as I know.

No, it won't look like that in-game as far as I know.

It does, but the newer versions of 3ds is causing problems when I'm going to import it. It always causes the modding tool to crash and it doesn't create some of the essential things, don't remember... TVerts?

 

Edit; and it seems as if whenever I close the project, it has created two new faces by itself when I open it again? What should I do with them; delete them or keep them?

I just KNOW this will look hideous in the game, but I'm finally done with the basics. Will most likely need some tweaking after I've seen it in the game (if the modding tool allows it). So, who wants to try to export it and see how it looks in the game? Am eager to see :P

We try not to extract DLC stuff, it makes Bioware mad.

 

The resource files are encrypted too, which makes it harder

Oddly enough, I just found the Avvar armors in the main da3 directory at da3/factions/chasind/appearances. No idea why it isn't in with the DLC stuff...

The avvar armor was already in the main game. Look at the Fallow Mire Mission. All they did was make those outfits availible for the Inquisitor. So wouldn't that make them okay to edit?

But before I did that, when I tried to open your 3ds max file, it asked if it I would like to change my unit setup from millimeters to inches. That's weird.

 

Curious, I exported your obj file and imported to a new scene and the hair was huge compare the size of obj that I export into the game.

Is your unit setup to inches instead of milimeters?

 

Maybe that is the what's causing DAITools to crash?

Seriously though whichever dev did the uvmaps for the skyhold jammies I would quite like to bash upside the head with the stupid stick a few times. How they made the texture seamless is beyond me.

I suggest creating a new scene and changing the unit setup and importing the vanilla hair mesh. Make a few changes to the vanilla hair(just for testing), export it and try to import it the tools. Or upload it and I can try it out.

 

I didn't have trouble exporting your hair mesh(it had the correct amount of vertices,polys and T-verts) so that can't be the cause of the DAITool crashes.

I think I figured out that part...I got the modding tool to stop crashing by renaming the file in 3ds max from “ef_052” to “08___Default_0_lod0” and then exporting as usual.

 

As for fixing the size, using the scale tool and re-shaping the hair around the head mesh might work. Then again, there might be an easier way to do it...I'm still learning this stuff. :)

Right, forgot about the re-naming part xD I think I'll try and start over, try to make a better looking hairstyle all together, with the right name and everything :P

In that case yes, I believe so. We avoid getting the encrypted stuff, not only is a pain in the arse to decrypt it but also why bother ? If Bioware encrypted it then it's dlc only.

Do you have the view...thingy set as "perspective" by chance? If so, changing it to "front" or something else might allow you to zoom in closer. If that's not it, then I have no idea :P

So, now I have both re-named it in 3ds and used millimeters (at least converted it to it) so maybe it'll work this time? (though everytime I open the project, it has created two invisible faces of its own? :/)

Omg omg omg omg!!! *superexcited* I see some stuff I need to fix, but I'm soooo happy :D
