So how is this with export things from a Game? I was reading all your Post's lol :)

And.. Sometimes I work with Poser, trying to make nice Pictures, but thats not something Like, export Files from a Game, looking in to them and changing them, also it feels, verry hard for me, because I'M German, my english isn't that good, and all the information sounds like Chinese to me :D

 

So the Question is, is it hard work, to extract the files, and work with them (maybe in Poser? It's the only Program I have, no 3D Max) or can someone learn it fast?

 

I would love to help you guys, because I can't wait anymore for Mods :D Some Headmorphs, MORE HAIR, diffrent look of my Friends in there like Josephine ... ect.

I know there is no real answer to this but:

 

What is the timetable on getting the new hair in game? I'm on my very first play through and would rather wait for the mods rather then use the god awful base hair styles.

I'm guessing modders are still trying to figure out how to inject the textures into the game.

@Renmiri1 - On a side note I saw that I'm not alone in love with Solas, I liked your blog very much! It inspired me to maybe make some drawings myself.. Been a while but their story is really amazing.

 

On topic now; did you folks saw about the patch being released today? I was thinking if it could mess up with the current progress that you guys did so far, depending on the files they change/add/remove etc...

Most of the items are already unpacked in stand alone files, so thats not a problem. We don't have skeleton files yet so its too early to worry :) i think >.>

Project Timetable / Progress:

The steps are:

 

Identify game assets (textures, mesh, etc..)

1) Read the CAS files in readable form (uncompressed) -- done & released

2) Find texture and mesh examples on the CAS files -- done & released

3) Extract the texture in readable form (dds)  -- done & released

3a) Extract the game 3d models in readable form (obj, 3ds, fbx..) -- done & released

3b) Extract game dialog text -- Done & released

3c) Extract game sound files -- done by other modders, not on our tool

 

Modify simple Textures & Mesh

4) modify textures (gimp, Photoshop, Paint.net) -- done

4a) Modify  Mesh (3ds, maya, blender, daz3D) -- done

5) Make a tool to import modded textures into game w/o crashing the game -- done, not released yet

5a) Make a tool to import static mesh (statues, chairs, rocks) - done, not released yet

 

Modify skinned/ rigged Textures & Mesh

6) rig modded Mesh to fit the npc bodies in game (3ds, maya, blender, daz3D) -- done

7) Make a tool to import rigged mesh (armour, hair, weapons) - done, not released yet

 

Modify game character Textures & Mesh

8) rig modded Mesh to fit the Inquisitor bodies in game (3ds, maya, blender, daz3D) -- done

9) Make a tool to import rigged / dynamic mesh (armour, hair, weapons, body. face) - TO DO

 

Modify game story / flow (dialog, sound files, dialog wheel, conditionals, damage, stats, spells)

3b) Extract game dialog text -- Done & released

3c) Extract game sound files -- done by other modders, not on our tool

10) Identify and read conditionals, statistics, spells

11) Make user tool to modify text, sound. statistics, spells, etc..

12) Make tool to import the modified text, conditionals, etc into game

 

 

 

** Note that 10, 11 & 12 can be done in paralel with the mesh work

*** After step 5 we can have our first mod (Change the colors of your brown Jammies!  ) and some little mods like that, like "use your own flag instead of the Inquisition flag", or "make your throne blue on Skyhold". Perhaps we can even make Leliana a redhead if we find her hair texture.

*** After step 5a modders can add some little things like a My little pony statue to inqui's room or a fancy door to Solas room, or whatever

**** After step 6 modders can change hair, armor and other character accessories. Finally we can try to switch the jamies for jeans ant t-shirt and get Bianca to look as rocket launcher or flame thrower

**** After step 8 we can make new mounts or new Darkspawn, or such

 

Doubt we get to 8 that this year but I've been wrong before, I thought step 5 was gonna happen in 2015 and Ehalmloptiran is doing it already :)

the way u wrote it is pretty easy to follow (for me) i just got excited when i saw  fbx and rig :P  thought they  found a way to get them bones :P

 

also AWESOME JOB ON THE 3D PREVIEWER :wub:  :wub:  makes searching for things MUCH more easier

Ok so today I discovered that apparently I suck at making hair for guys.... sorry to disappoint... i am not happy with the outcome and probably wont use these in game .. cause .. they suck...

 

 

1st off i was trying to do this.. (click link to view ref image: http://images.flickd...enge-sith_7.jpg)  AAAaaannnddd it turned out like this... im not very happy with it...

@Adela - Are you serious? Every single one of them is better than all hairs of all DA franchise! Maybe you dont find them good enough because you are too used to make female hairs so your sense of perception is shaped to judge another kind of design, but seriously tho: the hairs are well made and they look good.

Dear modders, DO NOT download the patch because at the moment it seems the game is forced into low rez quality graphics (even set on high) and some meshs seems to be messed up like the scars not appearing anymore or freekles on dwarf Hardding.

 

Sorry, I didn't want to sound bad or anything I just don't want your works to be messed up or wasted or... anything... I just want your mods be safe ;_;

 

 

Edit : I didn't saw Adela men hairs, you're doing good. I specially think the second hairstyle will suit nicely Alistair because for the moment I think he looks like too much like Cullen because of the same haircuts XD You did a nice job, gratz.

 

Don't be too hard on yourself, you and the other modders are already planning/doing so much for us that's is awesome.

Yea, I would go offline to play Inquisition. The patch changes how your character and other character look. It seems like the inquisitor and non-companion/adviser characters are forced to have this generic complexion.

@ Chaos17 wow thanx for the warning, do u know by any chance if you start origin if it will automatically update or do i have to give permission first in order to install it? Cause i don't want it if it causes more problems then it fixes....

 

 

@Who Knows @Kamael  Thanx.. but i guess im just mad cause it doesn't look exactly like in the pics at all ... i might do some retouching on them later.. but i doubt i can salvage them..... :(

I think from what I read it will automaticly update, lot of users let them Origin open while at work and got the update. I can't be sure because I didn't experienced it myself.

 

But yes, the (forced) downgrade on PC is significant, just take a look at this picture :

So be becareful dear modders, i don't know what the patch will do to your work.

 

 

Edit : Ok, dear modders after some more reading... the game will autopatch if you let the option in Origin to do so. Otherwise you will need to manually do it yourself.

@Adela - I understand how you feel, the sensation that you can do much better drives you to abandon something that in your eyes looks like a failure. But hey, don't give up!

 

In all honesty the hairs are not 100% perfect, but they are really good for someone who is used to make most a complete different style. Everything must have it's begin, don't let the current level you are in another expertise sink the begin of a new area you can be awesome at! You are a great artist and would be a waste if you gave up (You are my hope for Solas's hairloss chronic problem... D: )

What the sh!t are you talking about? They are already far better than vanilla! Seriously, I'm sure a LOT of male players would appreciate it if you released even just those.
