I know there has been issues with the new mod maker and Windows 10, but I keep getting crashes for the mod manager since trying it with 10. Is there a work around or is it also just not compatible?


Send any bug reports with screenshots and detailed descriptions about any of the tools (Mod Maker/Mod Manager) to the new devs' email: daimoddevteam@gmail.com. I know that Dawnless Sky monitors that email, and Zhentar has been working with her on the Mod Maker, so since he's coded the recent versions the Mod Manager, she could contact him about issues with the Mod Manager.

As soon as I hit merge, it crashes. Loads fine. I can select my mods fine, until I tell it to merge. Then I get an immediate tool stopped working error and it closes. Everything worked fine until I got Windows 10 installed, so my assumption is that's what's causing the problem.

I'm trying to get jeans for him but having trouble with the seams and the boots -.-

I kinda get the same issue sometimes with the skyhold pjs that the front part and the back part of the texture don't align, I use 3d max to see the texture on the model and correct it if something is wrong, you can also use the 3d function in Photoshop to check it out and correct it if it's easier for you, and you don't wanna go back and forth between the programs

Yeah the uvmaps for some of the models are rather dodgy, elf models in particular seem to have a lot of overlapping uv’s. I don’t know whether the mod tools are distorting the original uv's in some way and causing the overlap or if the dev’s were just a bit lazy with their uv layouts, regardless it's really difficult to make seamless textures.

The over lapping UV are usually of objects that are mirrored,  for example for the pj have overlapping for the arms, this teqnique is commonly used in game development due to saving time

I know that but there are parts of the skyhold mesh for example that aren’t overlapping as the result of mirroring. There are parts of the uv that are overlapping that should really have their own uv space or be welded to some of the larger parts like the legs/arms.

Well if you have the patience for it you can remap the mesh however you want you don't have to keep it the way it is

Would that work without importing a new mesh, it would still reference the old uvmap wouldn’t it? I’m one of those people whose had issues importing meshes, even unmodified ones, back into the toolset so that could prove difficult. Admittedly I haven’t tried with the new mod maker yet so hopefully those issues are fixed now. May have to give that a go once the mod manager is updated to work with patch 9.

You would have to import the mesh back as well into the tool because once u edit the UVs and collapse the modifier it's going to be assigned  to that mesh.   If you import just the texture it will just look weird because the mesh that hasn't  been exported and changed won't recognize the UV coordinates because it wasn't assigned to it. Hope that makes sense

Hi, I made a few mods for my inquisitor Trevelyan.

I'm working on customizing human female's body mesh, but the normal map flipped on some faces that have wrong vertices (can be detected by mudbox) when I exported the mesh from Moddling Tool 1.73 or the latest Mod Maker 1.1.013. 

 

Problem like this, Pajama seems ok though.

About that bug, it looks to me as if the face normal of that face (or faces) is reversed. It should point outwards and it seems to be pointigng inwards (into the body). Ans then that face (or faces) have the texture applied on the wrong side.

 

Try reversing that face normal /those face normals (I don't know if that can be done in 3ds, in Blender it is easy and I can tell you how to do it if you are using Blender) ;)

Just a heads up that mods cause a crash when entering the new dlc area. I expected as much, but wanted to give it a shot anyway. Just an FYI for anyone that wants to know.

I somehow managed to get my mods working so far.

 

I just went modless, go to location, let the game autosave, exit, install all mods again, reboot the game and load the autosave  :)

Or maybe it was dumb luck. I'm just glad I got the mods to work  :D

I might try that later. As it is, I am running the game vanilla and keep crashing at one specific cutscene. Once I get that sorted out, I'll try your fix

Annnnd I spoke too soon :lol:

 

It keeps crashing at a cutscene when examining some corpses

that's the same scene I get and yeah, it crashes every time. Nothing I've tried has fixed it, and I'm not running mods vat all.

 

@mrjack - no problem :)  It's looking like it's going to be a while before I get to play it, too.

Some people have said its working, others are loading in without mods then after saving once in the area reapplying mods and getting it to work that way. I currently cant get my mods to work with the dlc so im currently trying different variations of mods too see if its just one affecting me.

 

So try your luck and see i guess lol.
