Hair mods based on the following base styles WILL NOT show in Trespasser: P (the bun), PB (ponytail), Q, N, and maybe D. I only had one D to test.

Hair mods based on styles 052, M, 047, DB, E and PC will probably show if they show up fine in original game area. I created a quick reference below. The styles are in the same order as you'll find in the Black Emporium.

Some styles I tried are old (a few patches ago) and some new (days ago). The only common denominator I found for working and not working was the base. For example, I tested 5 different bun mods and none of them worked.

I hope this helps some people when it's time to go to Trespasser. Maybe JoH has the same issue? Iirc some hair mods don't show there, either.

Thanks Purple! Very useful :) I just played Jaws of Hakkon with Valeria and modded bun (hair P) switches to default there, while the modded default hair (052) works fine :)

Finishing runs with characters in other games is the only thing that kept me from DAI for so long=)

Wow, been a while since I visited these boards.  Didn't have much of a choice in the matter, since I've been in and out of the hospital for nearly 2 months now.  Finally recovered a bit after major surgery.

So I should finally have some time to take a look at where we currently are in modding, and see what I can do to help :D

On a side note, that's quite a treat to feast my eyes on Adela, beautiful work as always ^^

I hope everyone is well, and I'm glad to see modding is still alive :D

I'm still recovering, but much better thank you.  It was probably the hardest thing I had to do in my life so far, so hopefully never again lol.  I respect anyone who's ever been through surgery now, despite how minor.  Just know that I'm here for you guys.

[EDIT] I answered my own questions. :)

Another question. What exactly needs to match when exporting my created hair mesh to import into DAI Mod Maker? I get an import failure message because the object doesn't contain the same number of texture coordinates.

I am using the 3D Max program if that helps. My Polys and Verts match up exactly to the original LOD. But I noticed that when exporting my normals don't. I am try to convert a SIMS hair for practice rather than making my own because I don't even know where to begin with all of that. So I'm just trying to figure out what exactly I need to be concentrating on in making sure it matches to the original LOD so that it can import and start testing out a few things in the game.

After further thread research I found out that normals do matter and the likelihood of me being able to successfully convert "original" hairs is not very at this point. Guess I need to learn how to successfully modify the existing hairs then.

Thanks!

Yes, basically you can only morph the original hairs at this moment.

You can't add/remove verts, you can't change the UVW Wrap, no weighting.

Mesh modding (porting) is on the horizon, we're just not quite there yet.

Hi.

I'm currently trying to make body tattoos. I know I would have to mod the nude textures.  But I'm confused by the fact that everyone shares the same texture, except for Qunari. I have no idea if I have the right texture file.

I think "h_arm_nude_d" is the right one. It looks like it has chests/breast there as well. I tried putting something on it as a test but can't get the game to even load once I create the mod.  Can anyone point out if this is the right texture file?  And if it is, what am I missing?

Thanks.

It's the right texture but there is a problem for some people using the latest version of Mod Maker when making texture mods. I personally had to download and use v1.16 otherwise I would get infinite loading screens.

As for the texture itself, you're right that it is shared by every elf and human in the game but the male and female parts take up separate areas so you can mod just males or females.

One downside when it comes to tattoos though is that the texture is mirrored along the sagittal plane of the body which is why you can only see half a chest and one arm etc. per gender so whatever you do will be on both sides of the body. You could still do symmetrical back and stomach tattoos though.

Thanks for the reply! Yep, the neverending loading screens are my problem, it's like a crapshoot. Sometimes the game would load fine and other times it takes forever.  Now I got some major skyhold bugs that BW didn't seem to fix. like opening doors and falling into the abyss of Skyhold, missing companions and advisers, missing throne and other furniture and I didn't even get to here lies the abyss, usually this happens after the final celebration. I'll probably just stop and toss in the towel.   lol!

Hi y'all! Well it's a full year since the game's been released and I'm finally going to play my long awaited mLavellan x Cullen romance  I know this mod has had its wild ups and downs, but I'm pretty sure a few weeks ago (or more) someone announced that it was finally complete (previously you had to download two separate mods). I THINK I have the correct one (labeled: Bi Cullen Mod-781-rar.) but just wanted to be sure. Anyone know where I could check and see if I have the right one??

Hey, Artemis, I think your best bet would be this thread (which is 'Cullen romance for anyone') or this thread (which seems to be the best one for male humans and elves) on the DAI Tools forum. I think they finally figured out all the little wrinkles. Just make sure to read the posts and download the correct version (it's a complicated mod!) based on your needs. Full voicing still isn't there, but most everything else is.

Thanks!! I did end up downloading one on the Nexus but I've only just started this new playthrough. So I'll check to make sure I have the right one. Yeah I remember it was super complicated and initially required two different mods, but supposedly they'd got it down to one. Creators bless modders!!

EDIT: OMG looks like someone on Nexus stole it and reposted it! Lame. Yeah I'm gonna make sure I have the RIGHT one.

Hey everyone :D been a while since I was here, haha xD

First question - the latest patch; is there an updated mod maker and manager for it? I still haven't updated from patch 10 out of fear xD

and another question - I want to try and add a hairstyle to DA2, but I haven't found anywhere I can get a tutorial. Has anyone here managed a hair to DA2?

Hiya, finally able to post in the thread after being accepted :D. I have some issues I posted over on the DAI Tools forums that never got any response, so hopefully some of you will be able to answer me. If not, that's fine too...

1 So I'm playing around with the tinting of the Prologue Outfit and I've noticed that the armor is only accepting the color information for the tints that are assigned to it, and not also the texture information. For example, the scarf is tinted with lambswool, but we only see its assigned color, and not the texture of lambswool, and the same applies to all of the other slots.

Is there any way I can "turn on" the texture information?

I'm using the heavy version to test, found at: DA3//Equipment//Items//Armors//Heavy//equip_armor_heavy_start.

Incidentally, the same thing also applies to the formal attire and the tints applied with the wardrobe; color only, no texture.

2 Following along from this thread (please look at it if you don't play humans or males), I would like to have the butt flap on the outerwear removed. Is that even possible? I don't really understand why they added that for some versions. The only thing I can suggest is that they thought that a larger framed person would look bad.

What is doubly odd is that it doesn't show up when viewing either the chest or leg sections in the Mod Maker's preview window.

3 Trespasser formal wear recolors. The original thread is here, which I don't want to c/p over since it's large. But to summarize...

I'm wanting to know what people have or haven't done with trying to customize the formal wear for Trespasser so that it doesn't crash (or infinite load) when loading the DLC from the war table. I'm also wondering whether it is possible to customize the

Spoiler
version in the same manner.

I'm assuming that the retextures that are currently available still do not work. The model mesh files for each version both have tint color information that can be changed to whatever color the modder wants, which I have experience changing from my extensive work on this mod.

And both versions are found at...

da3//factions//inquisition//appearances//uni_hm_inquisitor//models//bdy_hm_inquisitor_dress01_model_mesh (standard)
da3_dlc_blue//factions//inquisition//appearances//uni_hm_inquisitor//models//bdy_hm_inquisitor_dress03_model_mesh (spoiler-free-description)

(If you're going to respond to this one, please look at the original thread as well.)

Thanks!

*hoping someone will answer*

Whenever I try to import a modded mesh from the wedding dress, it says that it fails to import because the input string are not in the right format.
