A question for the lovely modders here :)

 

I know I have asked Adela this before and she said it would only be a matter of time. But my heart is still broken from not being able to romance Cullen or Solas (and to a certain extent Blackwall) with my quizzy (because of gender). How realistic is it that clever modders will be able to remove the gender restriction in the game? Also even the race restriction for those who felt excluded because of that as well.

 

I understand if a modder does not feel comfortable working on such a mod; I would never insist on it!  :unsure: But I am just wondering, because it would phenomenally change my enjoyment of the game and I would already be eagerly planning my future playthroughs, even if I have to wait a year or more for them.

 

As a last line of defense, I would suggest that Solas could at least make the most canon sense for liking both male and female elves, considering his (non spoiler here) true self. Historically, the type of ... being... he is, they do not see sexuality :lol: There, I don't want to spoil more than that :D

 

Basically I just want to know if I have reason to hope. In the meantime I will continue to follow the thread and ogle all the beautiful hairstyles as well as the bizarre monstrous beings that people occasionally post here :lol:

I don't know how but i think it's possible.I guess the game/ npc will think of you/ talk to you as if you're female ( e.g if you romance cullen)

lol Yeah I'm not expecting more than that. I managed to do that with my xbox actually; I changed my character to female in the save file, spoke to Alistair twice, switched my character back to male, and for the remainder of the game he thought I was a lady :P It was rough when he'd refer to me as a woman LOL but it was better than nothing!!

 

I think the worst part would be having to stay silent during the romance scenes since obviously the male voice actors (or females, in Cass's case) did not read those lines.

This would be something I'd want as well, but I'm not familiar with modding enough to make it work. I also imagine you can get something like this to work using Cheat Engine if you knew the codes to make it work.

 

I'm sure someone could make it work. I'm sure someone can make anything work if possible, but I won't get into those "things" here. :D ;)

@Kiitosu does the skeleton come with animations too? if so what file is the animation, whats the name of it and is it in the ebx or sb?

Looks like we can't export animation files yet, just skeleton and skinned mesh.

One step at a time guys, one step at a time lol.  We got only a handful of people working on coding, so without more knowledgeable people I doubt it'll move any faster.  It's already in fact done some crazy progress in a weeks time.  

 

Skinned meshes is a huge step, since we can now use the skels as a base to skin custom works.  If you guys want to not get your requests lost in the pages of this thread, I suggest you make a compilation somewhere, like:

 

daitools.freeforums.org

 

Renmiri could probably whip up another title page for requests.

Nope, looks like IK isn't there. I could easily break model's arm and twist it 360 degrees lol. You can move bones independently too. Great for altering proportions anyways ( i want elves to have wider shoulders <.< )

I'd reallllly like to romance Blackwall but I dunno if I could take him calling my PC 'my lady' throughout....

I only know website, not programming, code or else I would help for sure!

I messed around w some of the addin files for origins, and have made some masks/tattoos/etc for the sims. But I know nothing about frostbite.

I know inquisition is supposed to be vastly different in modding than anything origins did.

Same here. I worked as a Programmer a few Months, but this was in the Web ... I know alot of more, with PC than "normal" people do. i learn fast, work sometimes with poser ect.

But I don't know things about frostbite and modding...

I did itt today to read and find the cas file xD but I didn't managed it to extract files of textures from there.

I would love to mod things...

Alright, I'm fooling around with the skinned meshes right now.  After reading through Eham's directions, it seems you can extract skeletons as a file with "export preview".  There's supposed to be a way to mix and match meshes and skeletons.  Going to test some more and see what I come up with.

 

Edit:

 

K, it looks like if you save the preview file you can then select it when you chose "no" for it to search for a skeleton.  So you export the preview of the skeleton you want > export the mesh > click no > navigate to where you saved the specific skeleton > click on it > choose file name for skinned mesh.

I keep the first post up to date and same for the group description page. Right now we have  simple mods in the works and ready : the ability to view game stuff on your favorite graphics program like Blender, 3dsMax, Paintshopor Maya

No where near brave enough to mess with game stuff yet but I'll keep an eye on the group page!

That's a lot of poly that you had to discard and details you made that disapeared... I feel sad for you.

The face and the clothes lost details, so much that he looks younger now XD

 

Maybe with changing some textures for cloth and skin will be able to add some details without adding to much poly ? I'm just guessing because I don't know how you can spare some poly.

 

My suggestion is to try to extract Morrigan and see how much poly she has because she one of the most "detailed" character I yet saw in DA:I beside monsters, of course. It's just to give you an idea... of the limits of the game ?... I guess...

As for clothing i'm actually satisfied i could get decent looking model i ll just rip bakes and normals from hi res model so details will remain where they should be.. but later  ;)

When I ran the tools to extract the skel, I clicked "yes". It seemed like it worked when I brought the mesh into 3dMax. Did I do it wrong?

I've never liked a mohawk look so much. But a punkish style for a warrior or rogue elf would be awesome.

What did you had to discard to get down to 13k from 67k poly ?
