i have kind of a silly question regarding the texture importer tool.. um how do i open files in the tool? I have extracted all of the assets using your old command prompt tool  all i see is 3 buttons save to patch export all EBX and exit  i clicked on the export all ebx button and then  followed the path to ebx >da3>actors>baseheads>human female

then it says complete exporting but nothing appears in the assets or anything like it does  in your picture

When you open the program, it should prompt you to find your Dragon Age executable, after you do that, it will begin gathering assets, you will have a little progress bar down in the bottom left hand corner, Folders will start to appear as they are loaded, the initial load will take around 20 mins. After that, each subsequent load is very quick due to the data being cached. If you were not prompted to find your executable when you first launched, then there is a problem.

Make sure there isnt a daimodding.ini file in the same directory as the executable, that is the only thing that would prevent the dialog from showing up. I have tested this on about three different machines now and in all cases the dialog showed up.

Make sure you dont Click "Export all EBX" or "Save to Patch" during this initial load, it'll most likely crash, and destroy your cache, and then you will have to start again, you can however begin browsing files, viewing resources and such. Just don't perform any other ASync tasks such as the two above. Eventually I will write protection in to prevent such an action, but just havent gotten around to it.

I can't seem to get this to work either.  I verified I have net frame works 4.5 installed, and installed the slimdx.  Ran it always as admin, and even tried different compatibility modes.

When I run the exe, it doesn't seem to do anything.  I get a slight flicker in my folder as if it was attempting to execute.

Where did you guys install it to?  I've tried both the root of my drive, and on my desktop.

I'm going to check prerequisites for slimdx.  I'm gonna try installing the directx sdk.

There could be any number of reasons why that didnt work, I would try some simpler swaps to start off with just to make sure it is in fact working.

No we are not very close, texture swapping was in the end very difficult to achieve, lots of sizes and offsets, meshes are even worse, especially when dealing with multiple chunks, and still too many unknowns to be able to successfully build a mesh resource. Unless your talking about swapping meshes that already exist in game, then we are no closer on that avenue either, since that requires EBX editing as well.

yes ofcourse italking about it :) I think importing NEW meshes willnot be possible in few years IMO.

And what is ebx editing what problem with it?

@Adela - Yea I saw Kiitosu's post about language, though I haven't really ever messed with mine on this desktop.

You think it maybe related to region settings?

While trying to install directx sdk, I ran into an error.  Apparently I have to uninstall visual C++ 2010, in order to install sdk.  Gotta love all the hoops lol.

Edit:

Meh, still no go even after successfully installing directx sdk.  I also tested without my SLI, just in case that for some reason caused a conflict. The only prereq I see is here:

A few years? really? I dont think quite that long. EBX files are the actual data assets, they control everything about the flow of the game, we can convert the EBX to a format to make them readable, but cannot convert back to normal form

i had 2  variations 1st i tried to save the patch on my desktop and then it said this:

[12/16/2014 11:13 AM] Adding modified data to D:\Program Files (x86)\Dragon Age Inquisition\Data\cas_01.cas
[12/16/2014 11:13 AM] Beginning the search for references in Super Bundles

and then i saved the patched file into the update folder where the original patch is and have it replaced and then it showed only this without the second like as posted above

[12/16/2014 11:15 AM] Adding modified data to D:\Program Files (x86)\Dragon Age Inquisition\Update\Patch\Data\cas_01.cas

do i have to wait for it to be added cause i dont see a loading bar on the bottom left.. it just says ready...does it suppose to say more after the "adding modified data"?

Dont replace your existing patch, it takes the original patch contents and packages it into your new patch, that may be why its not working

Ok i will try to play with it myself. If it just data assets why it so difficult to import it back..

Because it is not a usual format. It has some funny quirks to it, like using instance repeaters and array repeaters, storing descriptors first, followed by instance data, etc.

Yes they are standalone.

I suppose if Origin has some kind of repair feature, you will need to do that

yea.... it doesn't have a  "repair" feature... i had to re install it... cause my game didn't even launched anymore...

just so i wont mess it up the 2nd time.. where should i put the modified patch?

Just save it to a new folder in the Update folder (ie. Patch2). Its setup with a higher patch version, so it will be used in game over the original patch (And since it contains all the original patch contents, you wont miss out on the updates)

ok so i re installed the game and try  to do the process... but still cant see the new texture when i go into CC

ok so as u can see in the pic below i replaced the face on the right with the one on the left that worked well it said : "successfully replaced"

Spoiler

then i go  to save to patch  then says [12/16/2014 1:40 PM] Adding modified data to D:\Program Files (x86)\Dragon Age Inquisition\Update\Patch2\Data\cas_01.cas

[12/16/2014 1:40 PM] Beginning the search for references in Super Bundles

and then nothing else happens after  "Beginning the search for references in Super Bundles"  i saved as a Patch2 folder  and it is in the updates folder but i guess it just doesn't see it in game?

Can you check the Patch2 directory and its subdirectories and report what files you see? Looks like it failed at some point.
