YES. Thats what i'm worried about too. Totally agree.

But for now it's kinda problematic to get it properly saved for 3ds max :( importing them back in DA:I is another problem that will happen later lol

Hmm, I changed the normal for the head. It seems to have worked, but then again I am not a pro at this.

I also noticed that photoshop doesn't seem to support the normal format. (ATI2N I think?)  <_<

That said, AMD as an old tool called "The Compressonator" that seems to read them properly, at the very least it allows you to export them as targas or whatever so photoshop (and possibly other programs) can read them correctly.

For example:

Loading the dds directly into photoshop vs loading it into the compressonator and exporting it as a BMP

I have that tool from ME2 days. I'll go play

Did you change a lot so it would be noticeable? I'm not saying it didn't work, just wondered if there was a chance. If you're sure it worked, what format did you save it in?

Sorry don't mean to harrass you  :D

It's fine, yes I saw changes :) Like I tried Vivienne's and you could definatley see the lips and eyelids changing.

I have mostly worked on changin the lips, let me get 2 pics.

I am very new to using normal map and all that, so i really hope I am right now. But when I moved the upper lip up and down on the normal map I could also see it. Unfortunatley I don't have pics taken at the same moment.

Normal maps are being exported in the right format, ATI2 is what they are, sometimes another format, but mostly ATI2. I have already expressed my concerns for people replacing normal maps with DXT1/5 versions, I would recommend against this, could cause issues later down the path.

What your seeing with the normalmaps looking like they dont have a lot of detail, is photoshop adjusting it on import, nothing I can do about that.

Once you load up your dds in the the compressonator got to file -- save original and you should see some options under "type".

Normal maps are being exported in the right format,

I apologise for saying the opposite before I got my facts straight. I was basing it on what you said before about being sure to use the correct format and somehow that got twisted in my mind as them being exported in the wrong format.

Sorry again and thanks for all the hard work.

I saw a lot of  entries for skeletons in every single .sb, but no entries for male human skeleton, weird. That is enough to guess there is something wrong with people who packed all the data lol

Finding files is challenging, but, don't you agree, you feel happy when you finally find something you needed

I feel like an archaeologist digging for treasure :D

Haven't been able to read through all of this yet as my daughter is trying to "help" me. If you want some good videos on making hair I suggest looking up Sims 3/4 hair making tutorials. Those folks make some crazy hairs.

I thought it was interesting that Vivienne's file is named Odette instead of vivienne. Wonder when they decided to change her name.

Hi everyone!

I did a retexture/recolour of the formal attire and posted some screenies over on Tumblr, and it got ridiculously popular, so I decided to post it on the Nexus.

Thanks to everyone in this thread (& on the forum) it was really easy for me to learn how to do it, especially with the tools.

You all are pretty great, I just wanted to say that. :D Can't wait to see what else you figure out!

So I can not resolve the black texture issue.  Gimp DDS plugin is giving me an error when I try to install it and the nvidia plugin for CS6 is still giving me a black texture.  Is there any other program that can save dds files or am I just going to have to give up?
