@Renmiri - Yes, but I don't expect professional developer to be so lazy or bad.  If the real reason they wanted no toolkit was because they couldn't create anything better than that, and were intimidated by "amateur" modders...then I think our roles should be reversed.

 

If they truly want to make money off dlc, how bout making dlc worth buying.  That's the way I see it.

 

The same applies to the world of rendering.  If you find a kit worth buying to use for your render, you will buy it.  Otherwise, why bother if you can make something better yourself.

 

What really blows my mind is since this is a digital work, there is no limitation on supply of it.  Yet demand is pretty obvious.  Fans want good looking armor, added missions, etc.  If you provide such people will buy it without question.

 

Has anyone found a skeleton file yet?

Whelp on a brighter note, its much easier to work with and convert UNP armors from Skyrim.  Here's a Tera highelf armor partially converted to human female.  I still have to do the helm, gaunts, and boots.

Please excuse the two screen shots with double windows lol.  No idea how that happened.  I should probably find a better way than hitting alt + print screen.

 

This took me a whole 5 min to convert.  I could probably shape it better once I get my rhythm back.  What you guys think?

That armor  looks BADASS looks like it might be a pain to rig tho but im sure you'll get it :D  cant wait to see it in DAI :D :D

Naw, if I have a body with a skin (pre-existing weight paint from the skeleton) I can copy the modifiers to the armor, and tweak it accordingly.  Eham already showed me where the skeleton is located, we just need to convert it from ebx.

 

Eham just asked what would be a good format for a skinned mesh.  I suggested he make it a nif.  He doesn't want to have to write a new plugin for blender/3ds.

collada is awesome but very tedious to write. Obj or 3ds isn't good enough ?

Obj has no skin data I think.  Its the most basic format for 3d objects.  Fbx is really good for 3ds max, so I'm game lol.

Not in game yet. To get the changes back into the game we need to find a way to get past the signed table of contents that stores file names and sizes (it has some kind of security) which is being  tricky so far.

 

Any changed element, be it a texture or mesh would need to be updated on toc and so far our attempts to crack the signature method have failed so the game ignores our changes.

 

 

this worries me... :wacko:  ive been working on some hair meshes for males as well as femals also used as a refrence the early design from Solas and Dorian from the DAI art book... but all of this work will be worthless without an exporter/compiler

 

What do you guys need to get it to work? Are you only waiting for someone to crack it and then you are good to go?

 

I will direct some questions towards "some people". But since I have no idea of what I am talking about I was wondering if you could let me know what to ask.

- you need to get passed the TOC encryption?

- you need a tool for export/compile? Can this be made by modders or do you need it to be a toolset for DAI specifically?

 

Anything else?

we can read it but to rewrite it in a way the game reads it has been failing (Eh just had a breakthrough and got one texture replace to work so maybe we are closer than I thought)

Yup, TOC seems to have a signed entry for each game asset (each texture or mesh or other types)

We have a tool that exports, 2 actually :P

 

Anything else?

 

So far is this TOC thing and Silvist and Adela are still finding assets. Like eyelashes and skeleton to rig the models.

a 3ds would be good  but FBX  is more common in a lot of other 3d programs such as blender  and maya if ti would be a 3ds  it would only work for max

So people are already changing appearances in-game?

Some, not all. right now you see Cullen in pink while far away, then on his regular armor if you get close. And some item texture swaps work 100%

I'm bugging people at work for info about this that would be allowed to share. Basically so far I've only been told someone needs to crack and do backwards engineering. HAHA! :D

Still, just let me know what you need and I will try my best to wrestle something up for you guys. I need my mods!

 

Also accidentally stumbled on to a an old BW employee today who created the first spider mod for DAO. He said he would ask someone if they could make one (or even look into himself). Just getting the ball rolling. :ph34r:

Thank you for your help :) we appreaciate it :D  looks like EM already found a way to put texture in game... will see if he can do it for5 meshes too I WANT MOAR HAIR :P
