I wish you all a great new year! I can tell that a lot of my time this year will be spent modding DAI :P

Speaking of it, I been doing a lot of tests with textures, and I feel like I got a face texture and a tattoo that I really like, so I'm keeping it and moving to another textures now.

While I'm now content with my character, I truly can't wait until we have hairstyles because no matter how hard you try the hair ruins it all :/

Wow, this is gorgeous, great job!

Nah, gold is fine. There's just different mixes of gold. Like below, the concept gives the impression of 18k yellow gold. If the outfit was white, a lighter color could do ok such as a softer 14k gold or rose gold.

Precious_Metal_Color_Chart_-300x131.jpg

edit: if silver, it'll make the outfit seem monochromatic.

Well, I'm a goldsmith in real life, and I can say that this graphic is definitely oversaturated in order to show the differences between the alloys.  Green gold does not look like that at all.  If anything, it has a bit of an olive tone, but it is by no means obvious.  White gold does not look that yellow, and palladium is more gray.  Sorry, I just couldn't stand seeing that and letting you guys think that's how it really is.  :)

eh. it makes sense. You come with a posse to represent an organization. one to represent its power, in this case a military. People wear military outfits to balls all the time. When you were at Vivienne's party, you wore whatever you want because you are only representing yourself. if wearing a uniform, you know who is associated with the organization.

I don't care if it makes sense.  (No offense to you, of course!)  Solas likes frilly cakes and I like frilly dresses.  I NEED a frilly (or not frilly, even) dress for the ball.

So i got a question... what is the limitation on the polys for the armor? Cause right now that white cloth i modeled for the armor is 6700 polys thats without the legs and the boots and the shoulder thing....

overall with everything else its about 33k....  :?

EDIT

Ok so i reduced half of the poly amount of the  white cloth and its now at 3700k and over all the whole character with the  boots and pants and everything is now at 25k  i also reduced some of the polys in the boots...  hopefully 25k isnt so bad

Asked the same question before, as i understand, it's not a real problem for engine itself, but more for people who have not-very-strong machines. Skyrim has ultra high poly bodies/armor/objects without big problems.

I think that will be fine, just note poly count when uploading the mod somewhere, so people know what they get  :D

A bit late.. Happy New Year erryone  :P

There is not that much to look at right now, as its mainly a "base mesh" its not textured or has any details on it yet

I still need to do the cross on the chest with the stone and the gloves and after that  take it into Mudbox and sculpt some detail into it.. but here it is...

Spoiler

also that's awesome that we can now have some color under our hats instead of just plain white; )

Ah ok, i thought it would make the game crash or something or that it has a limitation, but yea good point i should note ppl about the poly count.

Happy new year to u too -hugs-

I could see a male wearing it too B)

Without the heels, though, lol.

Hey, my Lavellan would so rock those high heels.

Although, in Adela's model, you could easily excuse those heels as a sort of pirate boot like shoe, which males could wear. :P

Heels are fine, just say it's orleasian. It's believable.

Pft....god, Orleasian style is so weird.

I know now how to import the mods into the game, but I have no idea how the face textures should be "drawn" :S can anyone send their tattoo/complexion texture so I can see an example and explain a little how the different colors effect the appearance in the game?? Would be so thankful :)

Each channel of the texture represents a unique complexion/tattoo, so don't look at them as colors. Each channel of the texture is a black and white representation.

@Shantia - Thank you very much ;)

@Adela - Well actually the female elf doesn't have their own texture, therefore they use the human female ones, so I'm sure it will work on them too.

@Joyce - I haven't uploaded anything yet, I've only made one face texture and one tattoo, working on more right now and once I have more things shall upload on Nexus all together :D

Also in order to make tattoos:

- Design your tattoo in a new file, and don't bother with color, just make it plain black. (I like better make white with black background to give me a better view)

- Extract any tattoo with the wonderful DAI Tool. (da3 - actors - baseheads - textures - tattoos)

- Open the extracted tattoo on Photoshop, on the Channels tab select one channel (doesn't matter which, but not the Alpha), delete what ever have in this channel and paste the tattoo you desire on it.

Remember: Each tattoo goes in one channel, so make sure to select only one channel.

I can't figure out why my mod takes so long to load. My save is still loading after 5 minutes. I tried smaller mods and it takes less than a minute.

Can anyone test if it does the same?

edit: holy crap, still going at 10 15 minutes of loading screen.

Mod loads fine here, took about 20 seconds, about normal time for me. One thing to keep an eye on, is the Task manager, if you see the memory utilisation come to a complete halt and Disk activity, but CPU activity still going, then you've most likely encountered an endless load scenario.

Yep, that's kind of what I got. The Memory Usage is fine but the CPU usage just drops.

Spoiler

edit: so the original game doesn't have this loading problem and the smaller mods work just as well. May need to check if other mods of equal size has the loading problem or just mine.

edit2: so I have a save that got me in but now all the textures are low quality. My settings are and say Ultra. Meshes in town are missing.

Spoiler

edit3: mhm, mhm. Downloaded Skyhold Outfit Recolor BlackWhite Mod since it was the same file size. It works. So it's just mine.

edit4: found out I can't put face and clothing textures in the same custom patch. now it works.

I know you'll probably say no, but can I get the tattoo in advance?? *please* I promise I won't upload it on nexus and claim it as my own!

Sorry if this has been already asked and answered, but do any of you think there is any possibility in the future for NPC makeovers? Like importing the player headmesh to replace another character? Or would it be similar to ME3 where you can't change face meshes (I haven't modded ME3 though so I'm not sure if there are actually NPC facelifts mods outside the Nexus).

(And though this has been said probably already too many times, you're all doing the Maker's work here. Thank you so much) *goes back to lurking*

@sumojellybean: If I could, I would make everyone darkspawn. It would be Inquisitioner the darkspawn tale. Roleplay as a hurlock and romance some shrieks. There will be no mouth moving because I don't have time for rigging. No animation too because I can't rig.

I would make everyone Solas including Quizzy. It would be glorious like Rimmerwold on Red Dwarf   :wizard:  :kissing:

@Joyce - I have no clue of what can be going on wrong on your attempts, but I understand that sometimes can be frustrating to make mods work.

I cannot bring myself to change the color of the candle's fire, in game it look just wrong... Too bad I really wanted recolor the fires in this game :(

Happy New Year everyone! :)

I wanted to ask if there is a chance that in future there will be hair mods for our Inquisitors. It's something I really waiting for. :)
