If I left-click a lootable item I attack it with my weapon

 

If I right click a lootable item nothing happens

 

if I place cursor over a lootable item and press "F" nothing happens

 

How do I loot?

You have to be quite close. When you are close enough a small circle will appear. Then a rightclick will loot it.
