ME3 MP was the first MP I've ever played and I couldn't believe how great it was,

and I realized what I've missed all the years when I've only played single players...

consequently, the thrill of anticipation for DAIMP was huge.

Now, after 45 hours of intensive play, I am definitely knocked out of the skies

(needless to mention again why - the other 30 threads say it all)

Well, I think I'll now go back to ME3 (which I've played like.. forever) but wanted to ask you guys first,

if there is any other MP outthere that is a little like ME3

And by that I mean:

no plain/simple shooter where people just enjoy blowing each other away.

The main aspects should rather be:

  • a great loot system with long-term motivation
  • character development (gathering experience, having fun with ability-experimenting)
  • team-tactical elements
  • coop-mode (not necessarily, but would be great)
  • longterm learning curve (with ME3 I got better and better - even after hundreds of hours played)
  • no simple Diablo click click click (ideally like ME3)
  • last but not least: if the story background is as terrific as in ME-Universe, I would not complain...

of course I know that not all of these points can be realized. just wanted to give you an idea of what I'd consider a perfect game

Warframe is pretty decent.

Yep Warframe fits most of those criterias, I've had a lot of fun with it.

Warframe is what me'n mine went to when ME3 started folding up.  Tragically, it's just...not the same.  Every time we go on a Warframe binge, one of us invariably stops and sadly laments: "I miss ME3".

Now that DAI's out, though, we're having trouble finding the drive to even do potato events in Warframe.

Warframe is what I'd recommend, though it gets grindy without people to help you get mats to upgrade. It's still overall a much more enjoyable experience than DAMP, because the control of loot is much more in your hands. Specific enemies drop specific items, and you can decide who and what to fight, so that you can control (with reasonable RNG chances) how your gear/character progresses.

The classes are also much more balanced. They're all pretty capable. I'm feeling underwhelmed with the majority of the classes in DAMP atm, especially Templar and Reaver. Dunno who decided those two were good ideas in their current state.

Warframe for ME3MP - but as said it's just not quite there.  Better than Destiny though.

Diablo 3 UEE for DAMP - isometric compared to 3rd person, but kinda similar.  At this point I'm thinking D3 is better, DAMP is missing something, although i'm really enjoying the single player of DAI.

For me ME3mp was what hooked me into social gaming. And like you I eagerly waited for DA:I to deliver something similarly great. I've only played somewhere between 10-20hrs and so far I'm ejoying the experience. Not in love yet, but it has much potential, I think.

As for the alternatives, this fall I've fallen in love with Destiny. It got mediocre reviews and it apparently isn't for everyone. But for me, it's just awesome. I've joined into my first clan ever (actually two) and there's just so much to do with so many fantastic people. I haven't been this active facebook user either ever (both of the clans have their own facebook group). I could imagine that without friends Destiny is a lifeless, boring world. But with friends it becomes a fantastic playground. You can trial it for free. If you do, try to hook up with some other players! :)

I'm not sure I'd agree with this. Me'n mine spent about...25 hours end-game speedrunning for Hikou Prime parts and didn't get a single one. I've got about 40 T2 Capture keys because of horrible RNG. You can get significant amounts of Platinum (cash store currency) by selling some Prime parts because of how nasty the droprates are--if they were so manageable, I wouldn't be able to get $5 from just a few pieces. Not to mention how game-warpingly huge Potato/ultrarare alerts tend to be and how that's just RNG of if you're on your computer during the often brief time window some are available. Not to mention that the only sidearm worth mentioning, The Brakk, probably takes more average hours of rng than it would take to get Best of the Best challenge completion in Me3. Same for rare mods that drop from specific enemies and are absolutely necessary to even use some weapons. You could, no exaggeration, spend years trying to get the powerfist drop.

When I was playing actively, we had to take 5 hour breaks about twice a week to chain instakill the same bosses over and over for a rng chance at rare mats to build the stuff we'd rng grinded recipes for.

Can we really say at this juncture that DAI's RNG is necessarily worse?

Path of Exile surpass Diablo 3 by very big margin.

I been off for few days from DA:I mp and sp, and after i returned i have passion to play SP only.

Path of Exile is isometric but much more complex and rich, have pvp and pve, tons of times better than shitty Diablo 3.

Its bit clicky, but it involves alot of skill and understanding.

SP wise DA:I is best, abeit silly PC tactical mode controls.

atm DA:I is not best mp game. Path of Exile surpasses it by very large margin, abeit graphics perhaps, DA:I frosty is more advanced.

I had fun in the Evolve alpha which should arrive in February I think. The core gameplay was good, but what we got to see better not be all there is to see. It'd be a bit thin for the full price tag.

I've also played Warframe - it's good but it lost its edge for me. A couple of characters play quite dynamically and it has lots of animations and cool features, like the wallrunning. No headbutt, though.

War Thunder is quite good too in its core, but depending on where you are in the grind to new planes and tanks you'll get matched up to some funny lineups. The game is inherently struggling to balance the matchmaking and that's highly dependent on the number of players looking for matches in the corresponding equipment tiers.

Long time classic TF2 still is good for a laugh or two for me. You usually die fast but then it's not a WTF moment like in CoD, BFX and (insert generic military FPS).

If you like fps, the good thing about tf2 is that with 50 cents you can buy enough metal to trade for every single best item for all classes at scrap.tf, and the only time you buy anything from the company it is for purely cosmetics. It is also the only free to play game where ive gladly given money to the company because they are not greedy p2w trolls. The mann vs mann coop is decent if you like that kind of gameplay.

If you like dungeon crawling, there are plenty of good free and paid mmorpgs with much more depth and better gameplay than the three dungeon no text chat da3mp, really just take your pick, d3, tera, wildstar, neverwinter, wow, etc. Maybe after a few expansions, loot system changes, and fixes to controls and bugs, da3mp will be much more enjoyable and replayable.

I'm just going to throw it out there and say that Borderlands might be something worth looking into. It's definitely reminiscent of ME3, it is of course a first person rather than a third person shooter. But the games are heavily built upon co-op, complete with a RPG-like looting and character development. It's got just about everything you asked for, not sure how it hasn't been suggested yet.

I played over a hundred hours of Warframe and I kept asking myself "why do I keep playing this??"

I played *too many* hours of ME3MP and never questioned it. I make it a conscious effort to switch up my builds, looking for something underrated, and making the mid tier guns work on gold/plat. Didn't feel the grind.

Warframe never got the difficulty level right, in my opinion. Early on my gaming experience was following around someone with good gear, watching them 1 shot hordes of enemies. In the later levels, the most powerful moves were not hard to excecute. I remember blasting through corvus levels with a warframe that can simply activate an ability to do massive damage to shielded targets 360 degrees around you while filling your shields. Not as engaging as setting up tech blasts...

Warframe reminded me why the Bronze/Silver/Gold/Plat system in ME3 is so good.

I played so much ME3MP and I really liked it. I'm not in love with DAMP like I was with ME3MP but I'm still looking forward to playing it a bit more.

I have Feb markered in for a game called Evolve, which is a 4 player co-op game vs a boss that is also player controlled. It's a 3rd person/1st person shooter and I am really excited about it.

Another fun F2P game is called Firefall, it's a 3rd/1st person shooter but it's an MMO and pretty grindy, although you can swap all your gear between classes except for the main weapon.
