Dear OP, this particular "issue" has been raised a dozen time already. The reason you may have not find any threads (in the case you actually searched for it) is because they end up locked ; instead of real discussions they display a huge amount of stupidity, intolerance and disrespect. Please aknowledge that, yes, straight men may not have an overwhelming choice of romances for once, but all has been said on this particular topic.

As a reminder, however, a bit of perspective :

The intended content :

- Cassandra (straight men only)

- Blackwall (straight women only)

- Sera (lesbian women only)

- Dorian (gay men only)

- Joséphine (no restrictions)

- Iron Bull (no restrictions)

And the additional content due to the extra year of development :

- Solas (elven women only)

- Cullen (elven or human women only)

I might admit these two negate the chart's balance, but for Solas, I think his romance has been added for story purpose, while Cullen was a character some fans waited since DAO. Leliana couldn't be romanced because of said DAO, Vivienne is already spoken for and... There, we don't have anyone left. Harding could have been a romanceable woman, but then perhaps it wouldn't have been OK because she's a dwarf, and if you're not a drop-dead gorgeous, fragile and sensitive LI, god forbid you have something worth romancing.

As you see, qunari or dwarven women may feel the same as you, while elven women are still undecisive in front of such an overwhelming cast. As for Cassandra's beauty, it's totally subjective. Joséphine's lack of sex scene isn't something that should matter either, in my opinion. The key-words here being, "my opinion".

As for mods, why would you force your own preference upon a character's definite set of preferences ? This, and as of now DAI is not the most mod-friendly title of the year.

I understand it sucks feeling like you're not a developer priority. I know the feeling.

Harding seems pretty well received.  If she were to be the "returning companion (I know, she wasn't a companion)" for DA 4 and was one of two options for straight guys, do you think she would be well received then?  She's pretty and badass, but she's also a dwarf (i.e. thick and short).  I wonder.

I'm pretty sure the problem is that Cassandra has short hair and isn't showing any cleavage, and there isn't a "white Josephine" mod yet.

Ok, this is interesting. I never perceived Josephine as a PoC. She is tanned, sure, but from the features of her face and her accent, she is very much like a Spanish or Italian lady to me.

IMO this game's romance options are geared towards Female players rather than male players.

The existing romance options suck.

Good thing its not a game about romance but  about slaying dragons and demons and such then eh?

There are no drop dead gorgeous options who'd steal every young men's heart available

"Drop dead gorgeous options who'd steal every young man's heart"?  You realize you're talking about digitally rendered NPCs on a video game right? Do you often find digitally rendered imaginary characters "drop dead gorgeous", or you often have them "steal your heart"? RPG romances, if they exist at all, really only need to be entertaining and add to the story/atmosphere. Thus, Iron Bulls romance is one of the better ones, particularly if its a gay romance- its amusing, it adds to the entertainment value. Cassandra's romance is entertaining, because she's a really well-written character. Talking about "being gorgeous" or "stealing your heart" as if these were requirements for a video game romance element suggests you're confusing actual romance with fictional romance. Being good looking and stealing my heart are perhaps requirements for an actual romance (i.e. in real life- remember that?), not a video game romance.

Uh......aren't people allowed to have their own criteria about what they enjoy in a romance?

Also, if there are romances in the game, then the game is partially about romance.  No?

I keep trying to romance Harding NOW. Every time the romance option comes up for her, I pick it in a vain hope that it'll get me somewhere.

Poor you.

So can you recommend any good literature that my inquisitor can get off on, in the comfort of his own company in a tent within the camp?

If remember right Skyrim had 'lusty Argonian maid' that the Nords use to get off on.

Surely the Circle of Magi had more time than the time needed to research all their blood magic and the mischieve in the realm of fade.

I did the same with Aveline in DA2. *sigh*

Oh well, it looks my inquistor is going to have to resort to masturbating till Bioware releases official mod tools or a dlc with some decent romance options. Sigh.

Gross...

So far mods are hard to come by, the closest I've been able to get with modding the game is by using cheat engine and so far only been able to edit money, and inquis perks.

I did figure out that to bypass the "time" limits on the wartable quests just change your clock ahead a day and then back...assuming you're on PC that is.

Completely off topic but what are the commands for both please? I will happily admit I'm a cheater in games but so far I haven't been able to work out the console commands. D:

All the whining over the male romance options proves otherwise.

Funny how female players enthusiastically romance characters who look like Garrus, Thane, Iron Bull, while men throw fits over ladies not having their hair, jaws, skin color up to their standards. Imagine the uproar if one of their romances was a female qunari or dwarf. lmao.

Heh, I'm a guy that romanced Iron Bull, although I usually play female characters anyway. Honestly, everyone is at least a little bit bi, if you were completely straight you wouldn't be human.

Only a male  would say such nonsense ....

Can this thread please get locked already.

There is NOTHING wrong with the romances.

Get over it or move on. The writers DO NOT OWE YOU anything and they have the RIGHT to create and write the characters how they see fit.

Is this trolling or for real? If real, then: *facepalm* Oh yeah, while you complain about your lack of bangable women, I think I'll have my Inquisitor kiss my manly, bearded LI a couple of times just to wipe this thread from my memory banks.

Also its quite streotypically hypocritical as they assume beutiful looking people have no personality or character.

Personally, I would have supported the idea of Hawke being romanceable, regardless of the race/gender combos (Assuming Hawke didn't romance anyone in DA:2... easily fixed in the Keep for those who would want such a thing)

It would allow people to get the 'ideal' partner if they don't like any of the others... assuming one could also recruit Hawke as a proper companion for the party. Again, using the Keep, you could even design the personality of said Hawke, too.

A missed opportunity, in my opinion, but I can also understand why some people would protest that a designable romance option like that would invalidate all of the others. It's all down to our differing tastes, really.

Depending on whether voice files exist, mods might be able to remove requirements for romances (e.g. allowing your manly inquisitor man to romance Sera, but that depends on Bioware having recorded male lines for dialogue male inquisitors were never going to see)

Dagna? You know,

Spoiler

You can already flirt with everyone just the same they'd just need to change it so they reply as if you were the correct sex instead of brush you off. The problem being like past mods they refer to you as a girl. I believe all replies recorded for the wrong sex are just brushing you off or turning you down.

For that, they can always go play "The Wisher," er, I mean, "The Witcher."

Uh......aren't people allowed to have their own criteria about what they enjoy in a romance?

Sure. But the physical attractiveness of a digitally rendered fictional character is already sort of incoherent, and the criteria that one in some sense gets "their heart stolen" should raise eyebrows as well. But the point is that romance on this game is peripheral- its not a romance game. Thus, this is, at best, a very minor complaint. And yet, how many threads are there complaining that the straight male romance options aren't pretty enough or that there aren't enough of them? Its like me saying that ME3 was a bad game because there was only a few scenes were you control a vehicle and those that there were weren't very fun/successful; its not a racing/driving game, no more than DAI is a romance game.
